  1. Don't know if it still happens, but a friend who studied medicine, used to use greys in heart research ..pacemakers etc . Whilst very well cared for, most of them were PTS eventually...he loved working with them .. and had his favourites, but could also see that they were there for one purpose only.
  2. No, not immediately... :D maybe not for a little while.... BUT it is being spoken of..and I would like to have the clarity and better focussing, to maybe publish/print out more of my stuff. I love macro .insects & textures....and flowers, and birds, and some landscapes. Do not photograph humans or dogs much, if at all. Cheaper is more appealing...and I desire a Canon. ;) What would I be looking for? please do not go into focal lengths and other very relevant numbers.... my brain does not compute numbers well (which is why I get along so well with a simple point/shoot camera ;)) HERE is the sort of stuff I do . Thankyou
  3. What is her injury? Could she have irritation to the nerves which control bladder ?
  4. Dieting probably won't help :D best to keep everything separate Perhaps consult a behaviourist , too. He has just been castrated? maybe the drop in testosterone over the next weeks/months will also help ....
  5. Feed him in a separate room...don't give him the need to defend. Same with toys. If he is alone- he has his toys. .. how long do you have this dog for?
  6. JESSIE can you tell me why you see it as barbaric? Is it more barbaric than injecting the animal at the pound? And why?
  7. cma76 some day , you may have no choice as to what vet sees your dog .I hope that day doesn't come .. but some day in an emergency, a new kid may have to be the one to make decisions about your pet. I hope that new kid has experience with what is inside a warm, breathing animal.. We can read your posts using lower case letters , 'shouting' is not necessary :D
  8. That's so sad. Run Free, Sophie , :D Sophie was with her mum as she left to go over the bridge ....you couldn't have done more to help her.
  9. Thanks for that info , Steve.. I would still like to be forewarned, so as not to wet myself when barked at by a maremma doing his/her duty :D I am not brave.
  10. she is indeed a chewer! Glad all is OK at present ..and that she's happy on the paper. I love newspaper bedding..guess it's a hangover from working in kennels many years ago, when shredded paper was the only bedding used .It was terrific
  11. poor girl . Hope ,on Monday, someone will investigate thoroughly and find something they can fix .
  12. A vote also from me to get some serious allergy testing done on you and your son. Then you will know for sure if it is Ollie or something else, and can then make your decisions/plans. aahh :D see you beat me to it
  13. Just a bit of a side track- are BB's able to fully utilise/enjoy a lot of these toys? :D I was wondering if their jaw shape precludes some activities/makes fine control a bit more tricky?
  14. Aahhh.. yes he probably caught it from the next door dogs - it is transmitted by breathing on/coughing on another dog, so that is quite feasible.
  15. Your neighbours will have to be made aware of what you have in your paddocks .... so they or their animals do not inadverdantly enter, and become a target...also perhaps extra barking needs to be thought of?
  16. A stands for AGGRESSION DA=dog aggressive HA = human aggressive these dogs need a LOT of good management... and the owner needs to be very much aware of their personality/body language and habits/instincts.
  17. The last one is my favourite You have a perfect subject on which to practice! You may enjoy reading thru some stuff HERE
  18. My thoughts also. If he has KC, he picked it up before he was at the vets. *nods* Try not to walk him much on a collar- use a harness if you have one- the collar presses on his throat JUST where it is irritated The honey and benadryl and rest will help - he'll be fine
  19. If puppies are fat & full, I would not try to increase milk production .. they don't require much in the first week or two ... and if they have round bellies, they are getting plenty :D
  20. Oh - I was going to say don't clean him up - so she can smell herself on him.. but it's too late for that. You could try giving her a good massage - and doing her feet and ears as well.. so you have smell on your hands- then rub puppy , ..also roll him/rub him with some of her soiled bedding. Also - toilet him, and wipe it on her front paws, so she gets the scent/taste. Sometimes, cleanliness hinders rather than helps She will be a bit 'off' for a while, poor thing.
