  1. Hi, BobR , When your dog goes back for stitch removal/check-up ..ask the vet to explain it to you , or perhaps a nurse at the clinic could do it by phone ? I hope all goes well after this surgery now .
  2. So do I ..Tho I am no good at ID'ing them without Griz's help LOL I just adore this photo I got of her last year ..... She has such a sweet and wise face .... and we were looking at each other ..communicating ..they are so very special .Wish I could spend more time around them ... *sigh*
  3. Oh. @Dame Danny's Darling Dear Zombi is Mum to Zuri 6 ?& Enzi terrible 2 ?
  4. *jiggles with excitement * .. not long now .. I get to spend a bit of time with them on 4th August , @grizabella any chance of meeting you there? I really am looking forward to the day ( I have earplugs in case we get to do a second visit and there's a group or a talk happening ;) )
  5. That really needs a correct diagnosis ...it seems a very quick progression , if arthritis - and I've been thinking again about that falling over when toileting - that is odd, and worrying . Hopefully you can find a vet who will get to the bottom of it all for you so correct treatment can be started , and Luci begins to live again
  6. Ohhh, redangel - that sounds distressing for you all . What tests did the vet do to diagnose arthritis ? Do you think it may help if fresh eyes (2nd opinion) have a look ? Obviously some weight loss will help ... but were she mine ..I would be videoing snippets of behaviour candidly ..esp the depressive signs , the uncomfortable positions, and any episodes like you described Poor girl . I'll leave it to others to discuss meds etc .. I've had hardly any experience with arthritic dogs . I 'll send this shout to @Jumabaar who may have some wise words ...
  7. Interesting reading/viewing. excerpt : https://doyoubelieveindog.blogspot.com/2018/01/the-owners-behavior-elusive-puzzle.html
  8. Sorry you lost your girl it is almost impossible to diagnose from the information your provided , sadly ..... Are you in that same house now ?
  9. awww... I am smiling now as well, when I remember how 'Secret' got her name ..they were good times
  10. Ohhh..I had almost forgotten how beautiful (and teeny) Neko& Secret are . Dear old Tag ....
  11. @grizabella what beautiful portraits of such a sweet- looking dog who now will never again be neglected & confused & unwanted . That second photo seems to show her thinking 'oh My ..just WHAT is all this wonderfulness ? ' ( though it was more likely a pant-hoot ! LOL )
  12. Hmmm.... puppies , from an early age need to realise that owners can handle any part of the puppy body respectfully, when needed . This includes removing nasties from inquisitive mouths ;) most times this is not a tug-of-war ... but a give-take thing which can be taught . has puppy/does puppy have free time exploring after nice long on-pavement controlled walks/obedience sessions? Time to chew different toys /bones/balls etc ? Dogs also eat grass/leaves/dirt/stinky cat poo/deat rats /lunch wrappers & other things . They do not have fingertips or hands ..so HAVE TO use their mouths to explore and make sense of the world around them it is our responsibilty , as it is is with toddlers, to ensure they can understand us , and can do this safely . The food may not agree with him - could be as simple as that - or his tummy may work better with smaller quantities, more often ...it's never 'one size fits all' Like us - one person's kale smoothie is another's torture! His system may also not be digesting the food properly .... is this the food recommended by breeder and or vet ? Coprophagia (eating poo) can be related to a number of things ... a learned behaviour from a tiny pup ..... to boredom... to being hungry....to food not being digested properly ..all sorts of things. This recycling can also lead to more frequent,. and often looser, poo next day ..and so it goes . It is not as uncommon as you might think. gross to us ...but dogs are dogs. have you had puppy thoroughly vet checked ? As in his weight / maybe a faecal sample tested for enzymes etc in case it's his digestion playing havoc ?What has the vet suggested ? Does the pup's breeder offer any support at all ? Sounds a bit like you've been left with no assistance /useful advice
  13. Look at that ! You've done such a great job with him tamar certainly won't get lost in that coat ..gorgeous colour
  14. and .... Smoke with his favourite noisy octopus toy thingy ..... @PossumCorner, @tdierikx can only do two ?
  15. LOL Enzi, with his hair all sticking out like a tough guy !! fantastic personality captures again - thankyou for sharing
  16. Ouch ! Sounds as if everyone is having a rough time of it ..... here is some reading for you ..as I have not seen you or your pup personally . if a pup nips at you/pulls you /won't move - may I suggest there are a couple of problems . one being lack of communication , the other , one of respect . Communication between two different species is difficult, but VITAL . Dogs can read US much better than we can read them - which is how pups will so often end up training US ! I have no doubt folks will be along to offer advice - mine is to find, by asking on here, a GOOD trainer who will help your family find balance . Good trainers are not everywhere .... and word of mouth from dog people is important THIS LINK may explain WHY your pup LOVES people so much ..... click here Catch your dog in the RIGHT ...click here a very good article !! noticed you have been on a break ... what does he do when left home alone ? where do you leave him ...does he chew/bark/toilet etc if alone for a couple of hours ?
  17. some of the blotchy ones- past & present ...
  18. How worrying. it does seem like these is pain somewhere ..he is feeling it ..and trying to escape it /get comfort ? Sounds as if a very thorough and gentle check could be helpful . Keep a diary . Where when before/after food or drink? before/after walk/gettong on /off furniture? what do his pupils do ? panting? drooling? is he defecating& urinating normally? sleeping in different positions? tongue a different shade of pink? ..all good info
  19. new week!! meet Duke ..a pointer x belonging to friends he has owners who have spent much time making sure they can take him in their camper, or to pet friendly accomodation etc ...and have him be the perfect gentleman He is allowed to hunt bunnies/hares when given permission , and is apparently fast enough to catch them on occasion!Watching him move - I can believe it.
  20. those 3 or 5$ reading glasses at the cheap shops will do fine get a level 2 or 3 .. great for checking wounds/lumps & bumps casually . the dog must be laid back ... ours would have protested one way or another !! ;)
