  1. I rang the vet yesterday and she said just monitor her and if she got worse to bring her in. Nothing showed up in blood tests etc before the seizure.
  2. She's still not back to normal, however, there has been a slight improvement. She has stopped pacing, but just likes to sit and stare or go to sleep. She slept well last night on the end of my bed, with no interruptions during the night. If this is as good as she's going to get, well so be it and we will love and care for her until it her time to go.
  3. Thanks so much for your replies, it eases my mind a little. Fingers crossed that this may just have been a one off.
  4. Thanks Anne. Yes it's her first seizure - very scary for us and for her no doubt. Having done my research it most experts say the post seizure period can last up to a few days and there is no correlation between the severity of the seizure and the length of the recovery phase. I was just curious if any others had experienced it.
  5. My dog Holly, an 8 yo maltese x, had a partial seizure on Wednesday night. We took her to the vet and she gave us some Valium to give Holly and we were told to monitor her. She hasn't had any more seizures. Her behaviour for the week before this seizure had been concerning as she was lethargic and seemed depressed. She spent overnight in hospital on Monday as she was dehydrated but didn't seem too bad when she came home on tuesday. The vet did blood tests and everything came back normal. However, her behaviour since the seizure is quite strange and disturbing - she paces constantly and can't settle, she doesn't want to be comforted by us and is quite unresponsive, particularly to me. I have googled the post-ictus phase and it says this can last for days. Does anyone have any experience of this phase lasting this long and is there anything we can do to help her along. Thanks
  6. Great photos - I like the kung fu one.
  7. This is my Holly. She always does this when asked if she wants to go to school. I had to resize so it's a bit blurry.
  8. Dr Harry is ugly and I reserve a special dislike for him too I like Dr Harry He breeds Welsh ponies and likes border collies. He obviously loves animals. He is just a crap dog trainer but I am not going to hold that against him too much. Dr Harry was our local vet when I was a teenager. He was wonderful with our dog, when he was very sick, so I still have a bit of a soft spot for him. Remember, what they show on tv is what they want you to see - like that Bear Grylls guy - what a lot of rot that is.
  9. The RSPCA sells real Xmas trees each year. I'm not sure if they're safe for dogs, but I don't think they would sell them if they weren't. Scouts usually sell them too. Just be warned they make a hell of a mess and vaccuuming up the pine needles is a complete pain in the a.
  10. Great website and very straightforward to navigate. My favourite photo is the one in the pub with your husband and two dogs - just gorgeous. Keep up the good work.
  11. Here's my little family. Holly, Maltese X; Lenny, JRT; Pip, JRT X
  12. Cosette or Eponine from Les Miserables
  13. Large pet beds are available here http://www.1-day.com.au/products/AA3EAN0SB for $7.95 plus shipping and handling. Pretty cheap for those people wanting to buy one.
  14. You don't need to convince me that JRTs are the best!!
  15. He's just gorgeous - I'm so happy that you ended up with the perfect pup for you. JRT's rock.
  16. I voted No to both. I have a DA dog (a very slight JRT) who goes off her nut if she can even see another dog at a distance. I would not put her or other people/dogs through the stress of taking her to a dog park.
  17. I saw it on something I recorded on Foxtel - I love it. Congratulations Bec & Charch too of course.
  18. Gorgeous girl - love the name too.
  19. Great to see you're recovering Jed. Take care.
  20. He's too too cute - I love his ears. Have fun with him.
  21. He looks pretty much like a rough coated JRT to me. Gorgeous little fella.
