  1. Congrats on your long awaited new arrival :D Hope the "little" one is not too naughty
  2. Very sorry to hear of Tip R.I.P So many different ideas get floated around good and bad . I have witnessed Browns with Blacks and with Bluetongues here in next doors yard and out the back bushland of our homes so I really think it is old wives tales that they keep away from each other . another thing I was told Snakes use the same paths in there 4 k's of roaming , creature of habit I think. they also can get really flat a friend had a brown under their porch the hole it came out of was sooo tiny that it totally freaked him out. so yep short grass, no water, nothing they can hide under . Really wish we had Moongoose in aust
  3. GIRLS Coco – You know her as a fashion icon, but Hawaii’s Coco Ho is a pro surfer currently on the tour. Gidget – Sally Field’s bubbly television character from the 1960s was based on a series of novels by Frederick Kohner. Kohner’s daughter Kathy surfed with the boys and earned the nickname Gidget, just like the fictional version. Isabel – Born in 1899, Isabel Letham was just 15 when surf evangelist Duke Kahanmoku chose her to take part in his Sydney surfing exhibition. This makes her the first Australian to catch a wave. Jericho – A pioneer in women’s surfing as well as a powerful place name. Keala – Keala Kennelly surfed before she could walk, and was one of the real life surfers to appear in 2002’s Blue Crush. Pronounced ke AH lah, the Hawaiian name means “the path.” Layne – This world champion has a very appropriate last name – Beachley. Margo – From land-locked Pennsylvania to three-time world surf champion, today Margo Oberg runs a famous surfing school in Hawaii. Rell – Rell Sunn was surfing at age 4 and competing by 14, before there was a separate women’s division. Her Hawaiian middle name, Kapolioka’ehukai, means Heart of the Sea. Rochelle – Among the best female surfers today, Rochelle Ballard is one of the women featured in the 2001 documentary 7 Girls. A surf-obsessed parent could double dip: put Rochelle on birth certificate, and call her Rell. Serena – Another of the 7 Girls from the 2001 documentary. Silvana – Brazil’s Silvana Lima is one of several South American women currently making a mark in the sport. Sofia – Peru’s most famous surfer, an International Hall of Fame inductee, and the first South American woman to make waves. Mossimo - Moss , Imo ;) Kuta.

  6. If any of my dogs did something like that, they'd be at the vet being euthed long before any "authorities" were called... that sort of behaviour is NOT acceptable under any circumstances! Hell yeah !! I would be as. as I put on my flame suit a Bully breed in a harness all the ones I have seen locally and at my Vets ,the owners have no control , as the dogs do nothing but knuckle down and pull . R.I.P little dog
  7. Handsome fellow he is :) You have some really helpful advice from the very dog savvy DOL'ers here Good luck :D
  8. There was no need to arrest that chap and no reason at all to murder the Rottie I signed a petition regarding the incident . I have read many an article relating to a lot of USA cops that seem to be trigger happy when it comes to dogs , their nerves must be blow and I feel they then should be on 'sickness leave '.
  9. Around here, underground cables, water and gas pipes get marked out with different coloured spray paint. That's the same here But the worker's mostly use Yellow and they sure make a large mark for all to see . Pretty darn scarey so many dog's missing if they all escaped from yard's would be a heck of a lot roaming , as for my area I have not see a loose dog for months !
  10. Yes as far as I know the Police were informed .

  19. On ANZAC DAY we also must remember the K9 soldiers The Register (Adelaide, SA : 1901 - 1929) Saturday 28 December 1918 DIgger, THE DOG. ... 'Digger,' a bulldog that left Australia on board the Argyllshire in October, 1914, and is now the only surviving mascot of the original lst Division, has returned to Sydney. If he could speak he could say that he has been over the top 16 times says the Sydney correspondent of The Melbourne Herald). He was in the landing on Gallipoli, went through Lone Pine, and was in the evacuation. Afterwards he went to France with the boys, and at Pozieres was wounded and gassed. He returned to the division again, and out in two winters with it, being gassed again in the Ypres battle. Men who know him say that as soon as the gas alarm sounded Digger would rush up to, his nearest human comrade and make signs that he wanted his mask fitted. But he was not a mere show dog. When a man was lying wounded out in front and no one could reach him, Digger would be sent out with artificial foods, and if it was possible for the man to write he would bring a message back. He bears the marks of his wounds. A hole in the top of the lower jaw, three teeth gone, blind in the right eye, deaf in the left ear. He had to be put under chloroform to have the bullet extracted. No one company or battalion can ever say that they owned Digger. He belongs to the 1st Division. Sometimes he would be with one battalion, next week with another. Then he would take up with a battery of artillery for a -while. While convalescent in England he transferred to the flying corps. On one occasion he went up 8,000 ft. with the late Flight-Lieut. Gibba, and has, they say, flown all over England and Scotland. He always was a venturesome dog, but he was invalided home a couple of months ago, and now has to lead a more or less humdrum life. However, so his present keeper says, he could not be kept in on the day of the news of the Armistice. He caught a train to Sydney to knock around with the boys and,' several days later, had to be bailed out of the Dogs' Home for half a crown. He had the reputation of being a hard drinker 'over the other side.' His was a common face in the wet canteen and estaminets. The 1st Division has allowed him to go into the custody of Sgt. J. H. Martin, also a returned Anzac, who since the war has lost a mother, father, two brothers, and a sister— the last three on active service. It was thought that the dog might be some consolation for him. Sources; National Archives/ Item details for: B2455, MARTIN J H Australian War Memorial
  20. Good one thanks for sharing :)
  21. http://au.news.yahoo.com/world/a/-/world/16566907/healthy-guide-dog-killed-to-grant-final-wish/ The family of a blind woman who died from cancer has received death threats after her healthy five-year-old guide dog was put down so it could be buried alongside her. Sheila Stadler, 68, expressed to her family that her wish was to be buried with her beloved labrador, Toffee. Her son Andrew fulfilled her final wish by having the dog put down so it could be placed inside her coffin after she died on March 8. He said the dog had been lost without its best friend and ‘wandered aimlessly’ while mourning in the days after Mrs Stadler died. The controversial decision to put down the healthy guide dog has spurred a hate campaign from the local Terre Haute community, animal lovers and even her own family. “It got totally out of control, the neigbourhood was really angry”, said veterinary assistant Gregory Rielly. “People were saying they should burn in hell. Terrible things were said.” “Mr Stadler told me he had received death threats and a member of his own family wrote on a Facebook page that she could not believe he had done it.” Sheila Stadler, 68, died March 8 at home with her service animal, Toffee, at her side. Photo: Debaun Funeral Home. Even Mr Reilly was implicated in the hate campaign after being mistakenly blamed for putting Toffee down. “We would never euthanise a dog - we simply find them a new home”, he said. “It seems very morbid to me but unfortunately as the dog was their property, it was perfectly legal.” It is not known when or how the pet was euthanised.
