Figure of eight Stand for exam
-
I have a little brag. Dee and I started trialling in late June in CCD. Our first trial and pass was at the Rotty Club Resticted trial with a score of 86 and 2nd place. Our next pass was the next day at Broadmeadows with a score of 89 and 6th place. Our third trial was at Geelong and resulted in a score of 82 NQ The afternoon trial was a better result with a score of 83 and a 4th place. Our first trial in Novice (CD) was this weekend at the State Obedience Trial at KKC Park. We obtained a score of 178/200 and a sixth place. Very happy with this as her heeling was much better than the Geelong Trial. I left her at the post for the stand for exam this time. For her CCD trials I kept leaving her at the post for the recall. Handler error on my behalf. A breakdown of her scores on Saturday are Heeling 31/40, stand for exam 23/30, recall 36/40, change of position 28/30 and 30 each for the sit and down stays. The Sunday trial was an absolute disaster. We got 5/40 for heeling and zero for the other exercises. She had lots of fun. Stole the judge’s marker. Alternated between hesitant on the take offs and absolutely manic with boundless energy while working and between exercises. She did the stays perfectly though. Oh well there is always the next trial, which will be Sunbury at the beginning of September. Heeling Lost her a bit on the left about turn Got her back Not sure what is happening with the sit

It is also very likely that the health problems result from closely linked genes not the gene that governs coat colour. When mum and dad's chromosomes duplicate and recombine the crossover occurs for a small section of the DNA that contains the colour gene and other genes close to it. Therefore as the coat gene replicates so do the other health related genes, as they love to stick together. Which means that you increase the chance of the colour gene, but also the bad health genes.

You are so very welcome and deserve all the assistance and good vibes coming your way. It is fantastic to see you posting and read that you are getting stronger each day. What is so extremely humbling is your capacity to stay positive in the face of such adversity and tragedy, and to forgive the heartless people who did not wish you well. Stay strong and positve. Heal at your own pace and enjoy the strength of the DOL family. We look after our own.

Proposed New Victorian Dog Laws Dead Wrong
grumpette replied to Erny's topic in General Dog Discussion
These clubs are part of the applicable organisation because they are members of Vic dogs but unless their dogs are purebredand on the ANKC registry the dogs are not exempt. If that is the case then none of the dogs registered as Associates for competition purposes and I would imagine many dogs that have joined the Companion Dog Club would be covered, as a lot of them are cross bred or neutered. I would think that Dogs Vic would be extremely stupid to exclude such a large membership base when formulating new laws, as they are actively encouraging membership in the Companion Dog Club -
Proposed New Victorian Dog Laws Dead Wrong
grumpette replied to Erny's topic in General Dog Discussion
I am pretty sure that any of the Obedience, Agility, Tracking, Herding etc clubs that are affiliated with Dogs Vic would be considered an "applicable association" as they are covered by Dogs Vic's insurance and must operate under Dogs Vic's Code of Practice. I have sent off an e-mail to Dogs Vic seeking clarification of the "exhibited the dog for show purposes" part of the proposed amendment. Will let you know when I hear something. -

I am wondering if this section also includes VCA/DOGS VIC/ANKC sanctioned events like obedience, agility, flyball, tracking, herding etc not just conformation showing and does "membership of an applicable association" mean VCA membership AND/OR membership of an obedience club, agility club, tracking club etc. This way "associate dogs" ie neutered and cross breed dogs would be covered. This part needs to be expanded upon to ensure clarity of the law. If this is not the case then only one of my dogs is exempt as the other two are not shown yet are VCA registered, but they compete in obedience and herding, with tracking to follow later. My interpretation of the above (bolded) is that if you have the council tag in your pocket then you are exempt from the fine. -
Glad I am not the only one who can see a foster failure happening here She is absolutely gorgeous

Behaviour Of Staff And Their Dogs At A Pet Store
grumpette replied to lovemesideways's topic in General Dog Discussion
I would have to say the 4 Paws & More experience is the best and well worth the 75 minute drive one way. Phillipa, Ian and the girls certainly view the dogs as the customers. There have been several occasions when I have dropped in for something and have been asked where are the dogs? Their range of food (fresh and dry), equipment and bedding is extensive. Their advice and knowledge is fantastic. Their customer service is brilliant to the point that the dogs will drop in front of the counter or behind it and refuse to go home. -

I would gladly love to contribute. I can hand sew, but know somebody that has a sewing machine.

RIP Phoebe Another black and tan gone too soon Baifra it was not your fault. Some dogs have the most uncanny knack of getting themselves into trouble despite our best efforts. -
