I was very surprised how small the benching area is even including the crated dogs .Compared to other Royals i have been to it was a shock but i love the video feed into the benching areas even though i didn't get to really see it & the ring set ups was nice I enjoyed my day there on saturday

Temperament is part of the breed standard so any ethical breeder strives to breed for the whole package . Pet owners should also expect to purchase a pup that looks like the breed & all the requirements per the breed standard . One shouldn't have to second guess what it is because a breeder breed solely for one thing Having said that a breeder can sell a wonderful pup with a super temperament & the pet owners ruin it . The pet owners also pay a massive role in the outcome of a pup

Also keep in mind once you have one someone else often wants to donate more so the club really needs to discuss long & hard what the long term is for trophies . They can become very expensive to a club especially if funds aren't plentiful. Also keep in mind dogs co owned who aren't members but one is. It is really ideal to list what qualifes one to be able to have there name on the trophy ie will you just put names of members or are you going to put the name on irrespective (generally Non members don't get there name on

Make sure the club is happy to finance the trophy & cover the costs for a long time. Also make sure the club has it covered who is entitled to win it,whether it can leave the state & how many months in advance they need to be members. The clubs i am on are fazing them out they are costly & someone always ends up having to chase around for there return,store them . As for trophy the easiest to maintain,clean & repair

There not naive ,They like everyone else would have done the breeder exam sheet before gaining there prefix where they had to research & answer the questions correctly. They now the rules but obviously don't wish to follow them ,not the type of breeder i would deal with at all

Ideally your breeder should be able to give you all the support required or the very lease be able to answer any questions regarding showing . What exactly do you feed How many treats Your diet may be perfectly fine but the quantity easily adjusted . The quantity may be fine & its all the added treats that are the problem.

Hand back your award & then you wont have to be disappointed . Maybe you should go live in the NT then you wont have to worry

Yep rumour every year & we have just renewed ours BUT they are being a bit more pro active now in ensuring facilities are up to scratch & that will decide on renewals

There are alot of breeders in Qld & sadly they have the higher number of shonks even in Minis & some asking totally over the top prices BUT there are some good ones to . I will pm you a contact who im not recommending as i don't now them enough to do that BUT they do show & are very up to date on the breed & who is in the QLD area as far as breeders go

I wouldn't bother just use ne of your crates & put a blanket over,easier for the dog to see its surrounding,better air flow & less enclosed which alot of dogs dislike

Does she react the same if they come through the front door or is it just the gate?? Does she react the same if you take the dog out the front & greet the same people ?? Is she sterilized?? Also agree with others she needs to be ignored but using food treats to just build some enjoyment of people

Any kennel owner should live on there property . I have shown dogs since a child so kennels is part & part of life for me ,so even alot of the equipment was already owned before the kennels where. The worst part is the 365 24/7 lifestyle ,unless you plan to employ excellent staff you are the one who is there for the animals no matter what & especially in summer when it comes to fire season. You work every day of the year no matter what you are your job & all activities work around it not the other way. Christmas day = Kennels Holidays far & few between unless you have wonderfui help ,we go on separate holidyas because of the business. It depends on how big you want to be or how small. Dogs come in with many health issues that you need to be prepared to deal with or not accepted ,you need to be very dog savvy in looking for signs of issues in breeds & knowing when a vet is required & when not . You need to be prepared to brush dogs in boarding ,bath,blow dry all these things are part & parcel, Dogs with the runs,dogs passing away in your care especially the elderly . It is hard work with not alot of reward unless you offer a great service & have clients. It costs a fortune to build kennels,fencing for the outside yards that need to be dig proof,escape proof . Kennel set ups can vary to making life easier to making life harder & also what makes the dogs in your care feel at home the most . As i say i love working with dogs i have done it all my life but i would never open another boarding kennel given the choice & not with what it costs to build these days . We also do full time grooming from our place which covers the occasional low periods because when your not full your not earning money . Because we are known in the dog world we have a great referral system from breeders & even our vet ,our vet is well aware of how we deal with any medical issues & the care taken & again word of mouth with there clients . There is not alot of playing with the dogs as such but a lot of hardwork dealing with dogs of all sorts of backgrounds,needs & patience that can be very trying at times. You need to have plans for aggressive dogs to timid dogs You need plans depending on how dig you are for evacuations which means vehicle types,crates & we also have 2 dog trailers if required . As soon as late November hits we are on full alert for the fire season & rarely go anywhere far as apair if need be plus you need to be there through the summer to monitor dogs & how they are dealing with the weather . Because we live here if i hear any of the dogs barking during the night i go up & deal with it often shutting them in there sleeping area ,this could be anytime in the morning lack of sleep can be a package deal aswell . Barkers are far & few between but when you get an all nighter you again need a plan to deal with it & your neighbours ,1 barker can lead to many barkers .

We own boarding Kennels & i love my job but i would never open one again given a second chance. It is a 365 day of the year 24/7 life changing business ,yes you make money BUT it is a constant money draining business for repairs,upgrades & with all bills increasing so are your running costs. As for set ups that will come under your local council & what there guidelines are for kennels ,each council can be very different & location makes a business make or break.Close to freeway/highways in/out of major cities,near airports or other tourist routes are good. Whilst working with dogs is fun its hard work that in all honesty many people don't appreciate & you need to put up with some extremely odd clients at times. I would suggest working in a kennel would be the go & i can tell you many people don't last long as it isn't what they think. I have run.owned a boarding kennel/grooming salon for since 92

Rescues & pet shops do havea lot to answer for. All to often you do see breeds that in all reality it isn't & yes many are overseas breeds & the chances are nil but will just call it that. The pictures above is fairly obvious they are not the same breed . I recall a pet shop here listing some breed in there shop as a very rare in country of origin gundog breed. You didn't have to be to smart to see they where Border collie crosses . It is very annoying that many do get away with very obvious misleading info . We run boarding kennels & get alot of rescues through & the owners list them as ****** & when it comes in its nothing like any of those breeds . We generally say to the owners look it isn't that some get narky others say great & we only tell people what we believe people would recognize it as if lost . Lets take the photos above if dog A was lost & listed as a Sloughi all dog savvy people would say no to having such dog in there. You say is there a Greyhound cross & you would get the answer straight away . We board a dog listed as Boxer cross on the rescue papers & it is very much a Basenji cross,Same size,yodel,scream & breed nature but certainly not pure & not one feature of a Boxer except its red/white .

Actually no one can say there aren't any Sloughi's in Australia,many people bring there pets from overseas ,There are a number of breeds never seen in the show ring or on a registered list but are in the country. But in this case one is a Sloughi & the other certainly isn't

I hope the time is shortened . Lets be honest anyone who has brought a dog in will be aware that quarantine as such is a tad lax anyway. Dogs go outside & share (alone) the same grassed yards,the grooming rooms & walking in/out. In our case our dogs where given a wooden crate from South Africa to sleep in,not treated /nothing . They where more annoyed the dogs started to eat the crate Given most animals have meet a strict requirement before leaving the chances of diseases arriving is small. NZ has it right its about time Australia followed
