  1. Every breed has its issues so weigh up the risk of another cavie with SM to the breeds you consider. Personally with some issues i owuld take my chances on SM ,after its just like the chance you take your RR won't get HD .
  2. Some dogs just hate coats,if he is sleeping outside then make sure the bed/kennel has good warm bedding in it.
  3. Greyhounds would suit,Chows area alot of brushing unless they get a smooth. Berners are wonderful dogs. With what they have listed maybe the Deerhound. Dachshunds are obviously at the smaller end of the scale so if that size is of interest then there is plenty of other choices.
  4. What breeds do they like??(doesn't mean they would own them but what has taken there fancy
  5. You don't need baby shampoo just use what you have & rinse well . My show dogs have never been washed in baby or dog shampoo in there life . If the dog stinks it needs to be bathed cool or not ,towel rub ,brush.
  6. You also need to remember her world is about to change once again, she has be rehomed, now lives with you & now suddenly her inside life mean outside on a few occasions I would say one very confused dog who when getting put outside is being dragged out like she has done something wrong & i dare say your body language when this happens is one of a frustrated person . Hopefully your vet has recommended a good trainer because many don't they often don'thavea clue. She needs to spend more time at home outside without it being soley related to leaving, does she have a doggy door or access outside when home or is she reliant on you letting her out ?? It is up to you not to make her needy but you need to look at it from the dog side it is piggy in the middle & has no clue what is expected Also remember she had the visitors in this time frame that she also didn't deal with, she has had alot of new things happening so she needs direction
  7. We use a stable/kennel & chlorine . We have also on occasions used the cheapie stuff & the major difference was the crappy smell & the build up on the floor . The good stuff doesn't leave it slippery . We also use a degreaser (bunnings ) every so often to get any build up off as well.We alsi high pressure hose
  8. I have seen them at shows but i prefer the wire coat
  9. The most important advice i can give is she start crate training the dogs now . The sooner they adaptto the crate the better there travel will be . My dogs are frequent flyers & have been since pups but they are crate trained & happily will sit there for hours without any concern
  10. Considering is weight i dare say it would never hit the ring,it must be a very over sized dog or very very fat . US height is 32 inches or more
  11. Grazers are your worst nightmare & so much hassle especially when sick & when older plus there often self created . Personally i wouldn't want to be encouraging birds to hang around for food especially considering some of the diseases there poo can transmit. Chances are if the dog is a grazer it has taken a back step to the birds & is going hungry anyway because its food is being eaten so infact the dog is missing out. You could try other options but birds often don't give up on easy food sources
  12. What size are you after ?? Most people who contact us say Schnauzer when infact they want the mini not the Standard . All you can do is email the breeders or look at the mature dog pages. Also be prpepared to wait as mature dogs are placed in like minded homes for the best fit
  13. I would say that is expensive & many are charging for those collars which we have never used . One of our puppy buyers used Ranford last month & for a 7 kg dog where charged price plus a very over sized collar . We did havea bitch spayed last month & her bill was near $500 (8kg) but she had complications(first stage pyo) & an over night stay . George out at Midland is apparently great with pricing
  14. NSW also have training nights if your within travelling distance otherwise email the committeee & ask if they can suggest someone who can help explain or demonstrate the rules. Videoing the senior class is also very helpful for kids to watch
  15. We have boarded both breeds & i would go Bullmastiff all the way . Personality, loyal, friendly ,laid back & go with the flow . Dogues we have never had an issue but i just prefer the character of the BM
  16. First of there not a terrier . They do not shed but must be clipped every 6/8 weeks or if shown hand stripped when the coat is blown. Brushing a few times a week more so if ther is lots of crap on the ground as there legs & beard will collect all sorts of garden They are highly intelligent & do very well at obedience/agility They normally aren't a one person dog BUT the pitfalls of away workers & the others in the house being the primary care gicvers may mean the dog doesn't click like he thinks. Being a companion breed they thrive on human company .
  17. I am currently showing a dog in another group & have to say that breed takes the cake for displaying every aspect of bad sports or poor ring form . Some prefer to play the game more . I have no trouble speaking up if there affecting my dog.my dogs are fine with what ever is thrown at them BUT i will not tolerate people who have no care for another dog no matter who owns it. First rule is don't get sucked into the game ,judges & outsiders are good at seeing the bad display in the ring & i am finding judges are speaking up more & more now. Personally i think the stewards especially if there is only one aren't there to be the ring moderator ,there job is hard enough without having to be the umpire & as someone who has stewarded you can get varying versions of ligit complaints to those who are also serial whingers trying to create mischief themselves & making out there the one who is being affected when they aren't. Video cameras can also be a wonderful tool . As for the shadowers they peeve me off the most . Although the laughable part is these idiots seem to have n clue how it affects there dogs in the ring For people that seemingly want to win at all costs showing there dogs like a normal person brings out the best
  18. We have never ever followed the vets no exercise,if the dg is sane onlead then take him for walks,he will not damage his stitches walking . What is the dogs daily activity level ,what do you do to make life fun for him?? Some dogs will chew things to simply get the attention it may be lacking & being told of doesn't off phase them as it is attention. I just read this on another of your posts He also takes great delight in "stealing" things - he'll snatch a item and run off with it and if left unchecked, tear it to pieces. Many many many times a day. He enjoys being chased and considers it a great game, but if I don't recover the item it's as good as gone. Chewing gets rewarded with a fun game ,sounds like time has come for some new rules & respect . Has pup been to obedience school ??
  19. When you say generally fit & healthy is there something that she suffers from. Some skinny Boxers when feed up end up with the runs so feeding up needs to be monitored . What exactly have you feed & quantity wise ?? We board a number of skinny boxers a number have done great on Royal Canin Boxer often its a malabsorption issue so things like thrive D can be helpful. I do feed ice cream to any of mine that get skinny but they can stomach it . I did have an entire bitch that after 2 years we decided to spay due to weight issues & once spayed she put on weight easy . Also some young Boxers just take time to settle . How many times a day do you feed her ?? Bowen massage can encourage appetite aswell
  20. Set times means expectations, pups learn very quickly what set times are & providing you are happy to do the demand thing that is fine but we teach our pups that food comes when it does ,this doesn't mean they don't get feed but we don't feed as soon as we get up the priority there for us is traing pups to go outside to toilet ,have a play & when we are ready or its suitable pup gets feed. Our dogs learn to sleep in aswell.we don't set the alarm for clock work night toilets. If pup cries we get up,if no noise we don't disturb they also learn quickly that at midnight last night & the night before they got attention. We breed & show so all the dogs are taught from day 1 that good things come to those that wait & that we also set them up for the routine we expect latter on
