Supercoat Special Care Sensitive
Dogsfevr replied to InspectorRex's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
We trialed it when we had the beddies & the CT issues way back then. Im not sure what size the biscuits are now but we stopped trialling it as it was like feeding fish flakes & the dogs hwere having great difficulties eating it. -
What Do You Feed Your British Bulldogs/brachy Dogs?
Dogsfevr replied to bulldog4me's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
Personally i think you believe Bulldogs are a special needs breed & there not. like ANY dog BONES/NECKS should be supervised when given. What age was the dog when you got it & what did the previous owner/breeder feed/suggest. Bulldogs dont grow differently at all.No matter what the breed a good balanced diet is required for long term health & what you are feeding now isnt useful at all & there is a chance your dog may refuse to eat the Bulldog RC,just because its for them doesnt guarantee they will eat it . You need to deciude on a diet & stick with & start to set the rules of your dogs diet not the other way around Also large print in forumns is seen as very annoying -
I will be over-dominating until I get total control and affection I dont agree with that.respect is earnt by both.If your girl isnt the affectionate kind you can not make her or break her . Total control is about you being the leader, you dont need to dominate just use simple methods to get good old fashioned respect. Some people try to dominate there pups to the point they break there spirit ,respect & trust in there owner.

What Do You Feed Your British Bulldogs/brachy Dogs?
Dogsfevr replied to bulldog4me's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
We board many bulldogs & the eat anything & everything. Sounds like your pandering to your dog . Also to much chicken & no quality dry /other meat or supplemenst can also increase the risk of them becoming anemic. Sorry but unless you have a retarded Bulldog they are normal dogs that eat just like every other breed -
Have you discussed this with the breeder?? Some dogs are very independant & like to view you but not be touchy/feely but i would also consider her start to life to have played some part in it. Be patient, dont push her .

Having Trouble Training Puppy To Be Left Alone
Dogsfevr replied to mini_dachie's topic in Puppy Chat
Follow Mirandas advice because pandering to a dachie is your worst nightmare. They area hardy breed but can become obsessed with there owners & as there a breed born to bark you dont want to encourage behaviour that will get this result. -
Where Do I Buy Decent Scissors?

The best place is a hairdressers wholesaler. We have cards here to buy gear via the grooming salon. -

The grooming shop in WA sells them but the Wahls are cheaper i think -
Ahh, i see... Odette DEFINATELY dictates the pace laugh.gif I was using an extendable lead to being with, but she tugs so hard on it, ive gotten her a much stronger lead, and she is only a little dog!!! Sounds like she dicates the rules too.Little dog doesnt make them exempt from behaviour skills & what you allow now moulds them for life or you end had like many posting here at 6 months my dog is feral on a lead.. We inform all our puppy owners what we feel is acceptable type of walking & the amount of time.It is in our puppy paperwork that they read through & sign. Why because many chose to ignore sound advice & many r vets hand out inappropriate advice but dont guarantee there info if it isnt done correctly & when damage happens they will soon phone the breeder. Even rough play in young pups when playing adults needs to be watched . It only takes one good thump on the hip area or shoulder to do long term damage. We sit out the front with our pups from 6 weeks.Outside doesnt mean it has to go walks everytime but its being exposed to cars going past, lawnmowers, kids, bikes, noises all things that if they havent adjusted to well slowly can be overwhelming on a walk.

To be honest this is one area that you work with the vet first ,simply stabilizing & then working what is good bad/ . We baord many diabetic dogs, some stay on there normal diet, others a normal but with adjustments & some sadly only can end up on a very special diet . Fined a vet who is very offay with diabetes & go from there ,. Alot of our clients add metamucil to there diets as this slows the food down passing through which means it in there system longer & obviously food & diabete is very important

Any Suggestions For An Alternative?
Dogsfevr replied to Terujo's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
Okay checked which one. It is Hills W/D that contains it. I now euk did but as far as aware they stopped using it after many complaints. QUOTE For those not familiar with it , it is used/was used to preserve dog foods, but it is also used to make RUBBER .......Can cause lots of problems in a dog, auto immune disorders in the main. Also a cancerous agent I am not sure if its in all the Hills range but is in the W/D I also now with the Hills UTI diet that use over a certain in our breed has no been linked to another health issue. By all accounts there are warnings on there website ?? Many vets i believe arent aware(ours wasnt with the breed issue we have) but after been informed he has contacted someone studying this issue in the breed who also wasnt aware of this but was thrilled to receive it as it does answer some questions for her -
Any Suggestions For An Alternative?

The hills range still normally contains wheat & corn,A problem for your dog, Does the ZD contain Ethoxiquin & as the one for sensitive tummies does -
The dog isnt trained or been adequetaly socialized . You need to put in alot of effort via a private trainer or obedience club in your area & sooner rather that latter We are boarding an adult male(5ys) who is having the same issues. He is 70 kg & they are now seeking help . Bullmastiffs are very loyal, gentle & fast learning dogs but hey need training

Every dog is different & really is trial & error. The PP blues stuff on my boy was adisaster dried the coat & the dilution rate adjusted didnt stop the blue staining. Each dogs coat absorbs the blue shampoos differently & what is brialliant for one is useless for another.

Check the ingredients of the royal canin & see what else is around. Eukanuba do fish/potatoe or roo & something (this one is very hard to get) Proplan do salmn for sensitive tummies & skin(we use this with great results. or stick with what is working .. Have you tried anri histamines ?? Do you find it worse at set times or all year?? What does the vet or yourself feel is the major issue diet oor environment or both?? -
I use the whit & Brite for the feet/hocks. I have tried the spray on my irish & i didnt find it any good at all. For my setters i prefer the crown royale #2 spray(which i use no matter what there bathed in) & to be honest a mixture of human stuff. If you want to try natural also consider the Kelco range which i do use alot

Skin Condition On A Hairy Dog
Dogsfevr replied to Wendysdarwin's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
There are some that show clipped of powder puffs but apperantly it is easy to tell as there is a differenece in the way there molars sit or something similiar. We did ask a breeder who showed us the mouth of both varieties so we could see the difference as friends who are toy judges informed us of how to tell but seeing it was very interesting -
Skin Condition On A Hairy Dog
Dogsfevr replied to Wendysdarwin's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
If its staph what meds has the vet prescribed?? We have had 2 dogs with staph,a Kerry Blue who after 4 months of high dose meds cleared up & we also had an old girl who recently had to be PTS who had a tumour that was then invaded with Golden Staph, she alsorequired certain meds & we also used a naturopath who made up a good natural potion BUT you need to now exactly what your dealing with & work in with both. What exactly has your vet treated the dog with?? If the dog has open sores then you certainly need to ensure that when bathed you dry the coat fully, not allow it to stay damp . Ask the other exhibitors what they use in darwin ,there are certainly people up there that travel about & would have good brushes -
Are These Things Good Or Not?
Dogsfevr replied to greatdanes's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
If you are feeding a good diet you dont need to over supplement/Look at what your feeding & then decide what could be improved. -
We have boarded many danes who have lived up to 14 yrs & been feed dry only or dry combo diets. There is more than just diet that enhances d dogs life. There are plenty of alternatives you can do to just dry only.Didnt your breeder give you a diet sheet??

Walks for me arent about peeing but exercise, infact mine are not encouraged to wee on walks. What you may fined is it isnt about the weeing but being on lead & weeing. With some of the show pups we now train them as pups to toilet onlead when toilet training .I have had odgs in the past for weekend shows that would not toilet at all after 3 days simply due to the lead. Try placing your dane onlead at home & allow him to toilet in your yard with reward.Dont make abig fuss when out but if you start at home he will understand the lead & toileting is more acceptable

Adult vacc dogs can get parvo .Some breds are pre disposed & many say Black/Tan breeds have a higher incidience of being affected despite all the precautions. Personally if i new parvo was rife at an area & that the grounds used where a local park i would be inclined to stay away
