Thats the thing about foods optimiun gave our dogs the runs, they lost alot of weight & condition ,supercoat a lost cause hills i cant feed due to an ingredient that could be an issue with my breed.Royal canine is now available through a stockist here in WA but for the price we found there was no difference in the dogs compared to eukanuba,i guess where lucky through our business we can get the breeders bag eukanuba 20kg for $75,Bonnie we have found works well with the kennels but they changed an ingredient in the bonnie performance so we no longer use it as it affected the dogs -

Okay the only cheaper brand food we have feed & would feed is Bonnie working dog,its 15kgs for about $30,we use it it through the kennels as it suits so many dogs, keeps good condition & doesnt affect there tummies,so maybe give that one a try -

Well my veiw is its cheaper to pay more & keep the dog in good condition than payless & they lose condition which then requires more money spent -
Hip Dysplasia In Little Dog
Dogsfevr replied to BittyMooPeeb's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
The way i see it is your concerned that the dog has an health issue so unfortunately despite the $$$ the people intending to take this dog need to be made fully aware of any known health issues prior to taken the dog on. Patellas could cause soreness but if it is me the money saved testing is nothing compared to things going wrong. Have the new people been told about the patella prob?? -
Bondi Is Finally Putting On Some Weight!
Dogsfevr replied to boxagirl's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
remember dont over do it ,what looks like weight gain this week could turn into the runs next week so do it in small quantaties, weight gain is a slow & easy process, many people get overly excited & increase the amount & it all comes out the otherend -
Is this one of the pups from they 8 yr old blind bitch that had a litter??

When it comes to grooming you have 2 types of clients. Regulars that come back year after year, the dont care types that go anywhere thats convient at that moment & very raely return these kinds are very active in summer. Grooming is hardwork on the body, expensive to start out & even more expensive if you dont have a good client base. You also need to look at what sort of dogs you where thinking of grooming, how fancy a groom you wish to learn & above all how confidient you are in handling dogs because as a groomer you are also a trainer & advisor to your clients.

i prefer not to go into detail about our reasons for not using them but put simply we drive past 4 vets murdoch included to our choice of vet . There are plenty of good vets around in your area depending on which one you tried already. Did you bring your dogs vet notes with you from NSW??as that would always be handy for any new vet you pick
-
Loraine there are other specialists out there bare them we wont use them full stop but that is our choice
-
I guess we all have opinions of vets but i wouldnt take a dead dog to murdoch

Certain biscuits have different ingredients & different smells so its always best to stick with what you now & wait if stocks arent in.I now i cant use hills on my dogs due to the wheat & corn ingredients as my breed can be intolerate

The WA natural balance has been around for years & was mainly sold to japan where it did extremely well. We have used it & whilst we dont continue to do so many do with no issues at all,it just didnt work on the dogs i wanted it to like there current diet
-
I cant say ive noticed swelling but as a result of his problem his teeth have detoriated much quicker . The main associated problem we find is when he has a flair up he gets bad ears as its all connected
-
One of my old dogs has bad adnoids (which cant be removed in dogs)every so often he has a horrid hack sorta cough/clearing the throat,it comes & goes & meds do relieve the problem but we try to advoid them where possible .We have learnt not to worry as its just him but it can be embarrassing when people here it
-
could be bad adnoids,tonsils

He has just as much chance of getting bloat whether feed barf or biscuits & if a dog is lacking condition then i would be trying biscuits aswell, pointers are hard to maintain weight & what you may want to feed doesnt mean its right for this dog. I have deep chested breeds & they are feed biscuits plus there raw food & are exercised for an hour each night plus the free running on an acre but i always have to adapt the feed to each dog in question as each one thrives on something different. Maybe try pancreas tablets aswell

We had a dog with blocked tear ducts who required the surgery many years ago & it was all fixed .

Maverick a clipped top coat is far more work than a good top coat even for pet owners, you have to constantly clip the top coats where a good top coat is easy maintance, dries quicker etc
-
At 7 months the coat is no where near mature but you need to strip the coat to get the puppy fluff out.Maybe ask your breeder if they can recommend another breeder to give you some basic advice or show you how to use a tool correctly maybe even the one you have.
-
You shouldnt clip the top coat of a springer . You need to rake/strip the top coat so the right texture comes through & then you have a great coat for the life of the dog,if you clip the top coat it will curl more, the undercoat will take over & it looks dull & deary. If you got the dog from a good breeder they should be able to show you how to work on the coat,it isnt that hard but the results a fair better than clipping,a good groomer should advise agaisnt clipping the top coat but they should strip the coat & tidy the feet, clip the throat/ear area & trim & tidy up. If the dog is young the coat will curl until the mature coat is heavy enough to keep it down

I will also use this as a case many yrs ago we plus many others we unfortunate enough to have puppies vaccinated by a batch that was bad. We persude this & although the outcome was to flipint if the pups hadnt been vaccinated by a vet where it was proved they where healthy & happy at time of vaccs we wouldnt have had any comeback as what proof would you have to say pups where fine when vaccinated by yourself?? If your vet doesnt check thoruoughly then say something we sure as hell do,we are paying for the consult & expect full service to be given or we speak up
-
My theory is if you slef vaccinated are you going to take the temp, listen to the hearts & do a general checkup to ensure puppy is healthy to be vaccinated?? For me when selling the pups have been vet checked at 6 weeks ,injection given or if for any reasons a problem is there its addressed before a vacc is given.
