Looking For Some Good Thinning Scissors
Dogsfevr replied to cassie's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
yes ,i also have some others that cost more but we use those weekly in the salon & on our showdogs & for the price have had a good life from them . -
Yep had dog with bad tonsils & had them removed all good after that .She only had the one attack but it was bad & it was an issue in her line Generally they gag especially with a lead on ,be off & have a stinky breath ,no coughing infact many of the dog i now with it didn't have a cough as such. Can run in some lines & some breeds more so. Some vets will remove some won't ours didn't hesitate to remove & she was great after. Most do the med path but it gets to a point that it can affect lead/collar wearing & a decision needs to be made . Many pups can get inflamed tonsils whilst teething * then no issues ever again

Looking For Some Good Thinning Scissors
Dogsfevr replied to cassie's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
We use wahl thinners have lasted well & used all the time. We use Gator straight & bent shank scissors ,Geib etc etc no expensive spared. The reality is though cheap can mean crap & then it costs more to buy another pair. I use single side & very fussy on the the quality as i want perfection in the results & some just don't do the job -
I see it as it takes two to tango ,some Cats are just plain nasty & no dog should have to live with them . When people phone about puppies many will say how is your pups with cats & our reply is how is your cat with dogs & if it doesn't work out what is the plan , We then have the owners of totally house cats only so no cat doors so then we ask where will the dog live & what access inside /out will it have . Both need to have a routine they can all live to . Our most trusted around cats where our Greyhounds but our Grey would be the first to kill chooks so depending on what access they will have on the farm may make other breeds better suited for the WHOLE package

Young Schoolgirls Asking To Take The Dogs For A Walk
Dogsfevr replied to Boronia's topic in General Dog Discussion
No insurance in this day and age no way. I would not trust any teenager to walk my dogs no matter how savy they are & if they don't have public liability insurance any parent that allows then to do this is nuts . When you walk these dogs you are the guardian at that time ,any issues the kids pay the price or the parents that allow it . -
I gather the OP is meaning injections for keeping the prog level at the ideal level to help the survival of the litter . Has she had issues before?? If your vet is a repo vet then they should be answering the questions

Diet is what best suits the dog some do bad on grain free others do fine . There is more to diet than just feeding grain free & personally i found my dogs where worse on it . If the dog hasn't been brushed out fully regularly chances are its full of dead coat & its coat changing time & often whilst blowing coat they felt & mat . A good under coat rake will work wonders, a soft slicker brush for the pants, behind the ears , a good comb . What you wash it in can also make a coat good or bad . What to use again varies my showdogs are done in human shampoo/cons & have been for nearly 30 yrs now

One thing that amazes me with specialist treated dogs is the expense owners go to yet they never suggest a diet plan to suit or help & yes i now diet is individual & finding the right one is like winning the lotto. We board alot of dogs whose owners are spending a fortune on allergy testing yet they feed the crappiest food out & treats to match or they just promote what the clinic sells . One dog we board has been on meds for so long it has now caused kidney issues ,the owners are people with lots of money so no expense is spared but they don't ask questions nor question the clinic on why so long & now this health issue is here what to do. He doesn't have false turf ?? Does the dog have bad ears ?? Does he flea treat?? Did he have issues as a pup or it started later in life?? Feet wise you can wash in neat white vinegar, use tinea cream .

Minis are on after lunch restart 1.15 & there is 35 before them

I doubt the stuff has worked that quickly ,never has in my experience . Some vets can do them not knocked out but its rare & personally i prefer knocked out so they can get what they need done quickly & place the dog in the position that best gives answers. The dog may need to simply see a good chiro or bowen person

Personally i say suck it up & stop trying to blame the DA dog if infact its truly DA . You weren't paying attention & where obviously standing chatting near the walkway ,you had no idea what your pup was doing until it got to close ,you said it was pulling to get closer yet didn't take control of your pup just kept talking near a walkway that i gather other people with dogs also had to use . Big or small makes no difference .

Small dog owner they where walking & distracted .

So what is the long term plan ,will she be chained for life ?? In wet weather is that her only form of protection .
-
Yep talk to your breeder because your breeder should also help with the grooming needs for the show ring as your breed is an art to prepare. If showing was never discussed in the first place then chances are your pup may not be suitable . Go to some shows & watch . Points is the easy part but learning how to prepare & maintain a poodle coat each week is far more important . Hopefully it hasn't had a pet trim yet ??

Arguments For And Against Spaying And Neutering Dogs?
Dogsfevr replied to Safffy's topic in General Dog Discussion
All our pups must be desexed, don't care about the science .Science doesn't prevent moron owners breeding there pet dogs & owning a breed highly sort after by BYB & DD breeders & exporting we will stick with desexing 100% -
Bowen is gentle & works wonders ,what people forget is the other parts of the body take on the pressure when the dog is down so it may not be the back but the neck/shoulders . The biggest thing is life needs to change & daily activities need to be factored as to what will /won't cause grief .Also getting the dog groomed more often can help . When my dachie went down in his back we did the myelogram path issue was the uni decided to do surgery without our permission dog walked in/couldn't walk out but after months of physio ,chiro & massage we got him back up. Supplement wise i would use arnica tablets & rub arnica/comfry gel on the back ,good horse places have the best gel

This was on my wish list as a child for my showdog but they where not recognized here.

I would not get another dog unless you want one & no guarantees she will accept a new dog or pup anyway . If your plan is to have another dog then i wouldn't rush out just to get her a mate . Her routine has changed big time even to he sleeping arrangements ,her pack leader is no longer there & she is now having to fend for herself without having the skills to do it . What is her hearing /eye sight like ??

Using Human Antihistamines On Dogs
Dogsfevr replied to Leema's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
We have used Zrytec .claratyne, phenergen & a number of generic brands .Periactin we have used for appetite stimulant We board dogs & many vets now are prescribing anti histamines on a daily use for dogs with issues .The most common is Phenergan but it can make them drowsy . The dogs on these vary with issues ,some are highly reactive to stings & others just seasonal stuff ,some work better on some dogs & not others. The biggest issue ofcourse is what hes reacting to & whether a antihistamine will work but it won't hurt. Whilst you say no supplements there are some that can work very well & are cheap as chips ,we use a flax seed granule $8 a bag ,we have a number of clients also using it & found a massive difference with there itchy dogs . -
