  1. My mum thought the same thing until she actually saw it for herself when Roper pooped dust Roper is the only one who has white poo, although he does not get as many carcasses as the other 4, but the others do have hard chunks so it's all good. Didji used to "scoot" almost constantly when they were on dry but she stopped almost immediately after I started their raw diet.
  2. Oh no Fifi! I am so very sorry for your loss of such a young, beautiful bitch. I know no words can bring her back & we are all here for you! If you ever need a keyboard to cry on, never hesitate to pm. So sorry  RIP beautiful girl
  3. One thing I will tell you to look for is whether the parents have been health tested, whichever breeder you look at. I understand that in one of the states, pups don't have to be registered but all breeding dogs should be health tested. If neither do health testing, run as far as you can get & look at other breeders. I'm sure a Cav breeder here can tell you what health tests the dogs should be tested for but that should be a priority. I would also be worried that they have taken a deposit from you, before you have even seen the pups. A breeder needs to know whether any of the pups even suit you as they will all have different personalities & you may fall in love with one but that one may not be suited to you at all. For my own litters, I will wait until the pups' personalities really start to shine before I let people know which pup I am thinking of for them & THEN they can place a deposit if they wish. If the people just suddenly change their minds & get a pup from someone else, the deposit is not given back. If they don't get a pup because the litter is too small or I have decided that there isn't a pup for them from that litter, I will give the deposit back. Talk to each breeder, find out which health tests they do & get to know them. You have to feel comfortable with your breeder as they are supposed to be there for the rest of your dog's life. Good luck & I hope you find the little bundle of fur that you have always wanted

  8. Glad to hear she is okay again :D It's very nerve wracking isn't it? Back in September, after I had got Buuli back from the people that had adopted him (their son was allergic), he started dropping weight & looked tucked up. X=rays also didn't show anything but he was so weak that the vets agreed that he needed surgery. Turns out he had eaten a leash as well as some plastic & rubber bits which I am assuming were kids toys. It cost $1600 but the real nice family paid $1000 of it because they were responsible for it. I didn't ask, they just did ;) If he didn't have surgery, he wouldn't have lasted another day or two. Thank goodness your girl poo'ed the nut out. Do you think your neighbours would do something about the tree if you told them what happened?
  9. My sincere condolences :p RIP Sprog

  14. what do you mean not up to breed standard! I have a friend how is a breeder and even she has problems sumtimes with her dogs and there pups i think you are trying to give everyone else advice and you dont even know what you are doing. Well for one thing you didn't mention anything about her background which would have told us that she was reg'd. You just came off as another pet owner who wants to breed their bitch & your statement that you wanted her to experience a litter didn't help. As for me, I know exactly what I am doing & if it wasn't for my knowledge, I would have lost that bitch & her entire litter. I was trying to show you the horrors of what can happen Excuse me for not being a mind reader & knowing that you have a friend that breeds or that your bitch is registered. If your bitch is deemed worthy then good luck with her & I'm sure you will do great & we will all help.
  15. Aside from the fact that she probably isn't registered & possibly not even up to breed standard, you may be letting yourself in for alot of heartache if you do decide to let her have a litter. You could go through most of the threads in Breeders to find out what can happen but I will give you the most recent example of what happened to me. Now you may or may not get beginner's luck & this may or may not happen to you but is it worth the chance to find out? When Loo, my blue bitch, had her litter this year, the first pup was stuck. It was hindfirst with a leg caught behind it. This pup was stuck for over an hour before I was able to grab the one leg & pull, with the mother panicking by the way which meant that I couldn't get the leg back around & the result was a dead pup. To follow, there were 2 more stillborn pups & then a pup that just couldn't quite get breathing & died a couple hours later. If I had not been there to help or had no knowledge of what to do in that situation, I would have lost the mother as well as the whole litter. This is not uncommon either Then, we lost the mother when the pups were 2 1/2 weeks old to a horrible accident & had to handraise them. There were only 3 surviving pups but it was still quite a chore to mix up the milk replacer (goat's milk & yogurt) & feed them every couple of hours. What if your bitch has 8-14 pups that you have to handfeed every two hours?? What if she won't accept the pups at all or her milk doesn't come in? Do you know the cost of a C-section if she does need help whelping? ALOT! Read through the Rescue forum & you will read all about the pups that are now in shelters because someone "wanted their bitch to have a litter" but had no clue what they were doing or who they were selling the pups too . For the sake of all the dogs & pups that are already homeless in shelters, desex your bitch! Please.

  18. Sad to think, that's one of the cheapest clinics around In the city, you can hear the cash register ding before you even step inside
  19. I called my vet yesterday to ask what the price would be to have Missy spayed before she goes to a pet home. They said that because she is 5 years old, 22 kgs & a bitch, it would cost between $500-600 ;) When we had my big male desexed at two years old, he weighed 27kgs & it only cost $200 for his neuter. Pups' shots, I get the breeder rate so $60 for the first pup & $35 each pup after that. All microchips are $20 with breeder rate, $35 for a dog or bitch. The microchips used to be the same cost as for the adults but alot of breeders were either doing their own microchips at home or getting the cheaper tattoo's done (we have a choice for our reg'd pups here), so the main vet lowered the price.
  20. So sad to hear she has been called to the Bridge. She was very loved. RIP Princess :D

  24. OMG that beautiful girl :D Sending many :D from overseas. RIP Carli :D There will be many friends awaiting you at the bridge & if you see some cute ACD's, say hi for me.
  25. It IS an interesting topic...sorry to hear about your little one lilli. I adopted a bitch & her 7 pups from her breeder who was retiring & since I had no pups of my own at the time, my puppy room was available. One of her males would go stiff as a board too. He stayed tiny. He looked like a blue & tan Chi. When it came time for their vacc's it turned out he had a grade 4 heart murmur & we decided it would be too much for him to handle the vacc's. He never caught up to the others & he was always sleeping. He died at 8 weeks old poor thing. I did not keep the bitch since one of the pups had a blue eye as well as the other pup having the heart murmur so I didn't want to take the chance of using her again. We were going to pm the pup but since a heart murmur was already diagnosed we didn't think we needed to. I haven't seen it before or since with my other litters
