  1. Thanks Rappie. That answers my curiosity. I have no doubts that he is a good vet. The fact that he is willing to consult with a specalist and give the operation a go himself shows something. I know that vets are only humans but I wonder in this case if he has offered to do the procedure for free or for a reduced price. Yes it probably wasn't his fault that some tissue was left but who knows. I've had a pug that developed a hernia soon after spaying. It could have been the vets fault it could have just been luck of the draw with the dog. Because it could have been the vets fault they put her under again and repaired it for no charge.
  2. Might be a long shot and the xrays could have already turned up something else. But if they don't perhaps it's a allergic bronchial irritation. An ex foster puggy had a little rumbling cough that would not go away. I think two at least courses of antibiotics were tried and it persisted. A chest xray was taken that showed nothing. As a last resort I suggested trying some Claratyne for a few weeks. And hey presto the Claratyne got rid of the cough.
  3. Rappie is it easy to identify the ectopic tissue? I know it might be riskier but would it be more identifyable whilst the dog is on heat? Cowanbree is the same vet that desexed her originally going to perform the operation?
  4. Vibes for Ivan. How often does he cough and wheeze?
  5. Also try not to let him jump off things like couches or beds.
  6. Definatley do the cartrophen injections. Keep him as skinny as possible. I use Sasha's Blend for my 8 year old pug. Perhaps look into swimming him at a hydrotherapy pool.
  7. Last year I was considering titer testing but now think that it possibly is a waste of money.
  8. Thinking of you and Diesel. See if the other drugs perk him up. Take it one day at a time. Having palatively cared for a dog with cancer myself you can think they are near the end one day and the next day they have perked up and are not ready to go.
  9. More vibes for Diesel. If your boy has more good times then bad then I think you are doing the right thing.
  10. Yes I have claratyne in the pug medical box. Will give one if I see a face starting to swell. I also have prednil, which is a cortisone & antihistamine, on hand. But a vet has to prescribe this.
  11. Has she been desexed? If not then pull the teeth when she is desexed. Personally if she doesn't need a GA for any other reason I wouldn't put her under for her teeth at this stage.
  12. Fusion, with a plate, of the wrist is something one of my ex foster puggies might end up having in a few years to come. So same same but different as your dog. I guess the recovery time would be the time it takes for the bone to heal around the plate screws. 6 to 8 weeks.
  13. Remove the VAN. Just feed her either the turkey neck or tuna in the evening with food processed veggies. She will lose the weight in no time.
  14. I have never left a pug overnight, at a vets, after desexing.
  15. Puppies often dream like this. It is a part of growing. The older a dog gets the less they do it.
  16. Was your daughter patting the pup? Or throwing up near or on the pup?
  17. Ah ok. If he is only 5 months old he is still going to have toileting accidents. Make sure you are consistent with taking him outside to the toilet every hour or so, every time he wakes up, after eating & after playing.
  18. 1. From my calculations your pup is about 7 months old now. Is he desexed? I am guessing that he is toilet trained and his marking on the rug and toilet is to do with him growing up and wanting to mark his territory and show you who's boss. 2. He is probably wanting to play with the cat. 3. Fence off the area that you don't want him to toilet in. Take him to the area you do want him to toilet in and praise him when he goes there. 4. Sounds like he is trying to start a game with you. 5. Obedience training school might be helpful. A different lead set up might also help. 6. Is someone else instructing him or just you?
  19. Crates are for sleeping. Get a puppy pen if you need somewhere to keep your puppy safe during the day.
  20. I would think the bone woud be to hard for him.
  21. pumpitdog don't feel stupid. Your dog obviously was like one of your family and you are allowed to grieve for her. I bet she was a massive part of your life. Perhaps your vet might know of a counsellor that deals with grief after the loss of a loved pet. Kirty great suggestion. I will be keeping a mental note of this.
