  1. For puppies secondary infections due to KC I would think could be deadly. Please isolate your pup for at least two weeks to stop him spreading it to other dogs. If you take him to another vets do so in a crate or carry him and don't let him say hello to other dogs. There probably isn't much else another vet can do other then give him some more antibiotics and check him over. KC usually takes at least two weeks to ride out. Didn't the breeder have the pups in a seperate area to the other dogs?
  2. Sounds like your pup has KC. Get a new vet they are the amatures.
  3. Sounds like your puppy has KC to me. Get a new vet as they sounds like the amature one.
  4. I was going to suggest a poultice but I think it's just another term for the other things already suggested. Put whatever you have on the area and cover with a strong band aid/sticking plaster. Leave for at least 24 hours.
  5. I never leave the pugs unsupervised with bones or food.
  6. Sounds like an undesended testical to me if the vet report stated it was 'not in the sac'.
  7. My male pug was desexed when he was about 1 and a 1/2 and he is a leggy pug. Whilst my female pug was desexed when she was 6 months and she is short and stout.
  8. Cockerlover the pugs are not very willing to share their slops with others. Because my pugs are only little and adults I feed a rotational diet of meat and bones and add one or two tablespoons of the slops to that every night. Last weeks meals were: Monday - chicken necks & slops, Tuesday - sardines & slops, Wednesday - chicken necks & slops, Thursday - rabbit & slops, Friday - lamb bone, Saturday - offal & slops, Sunday - kangaroo & slops. If I had larger dogs or pups I would do things differently.
  9. Don't cook it. Food process it to break down the cellulose walls though. I always put spinach and silverbeat into the veggie & fruit slops I make up for the pugs. ------------------------------------------------ MY BARF SLOPS INGREDIENTS & METHOD Things I always include: - container of alfala spouts - bunch of spinach (roots cut off) - bag of carrots - bunch of celary - 4 zuccinis - 3 to 4 oranges (peeled) - 1 pumpkin - 2 to 4 apples (pips taken out) - 2 to 4 bannanas (peeled) - bunch of silverbeat - 4 oranges - 8 to 10 eggs (whole including shell) - flaxseed oil (approx 250mL) (some people choose to not include this and add to the food daily) - kelp (approx 100g) What else you can put in: - 1 to 2 green capsicums (stalk cut off & seeds out) - 1 to 2 red caspsicums (stalk cut off & seeds removed) - turnip - squash - 2 to 4 pears - half to 1 pinapple - brussel sprouts - brocoli - cauliflower - bag of beans - Apple Cider Vinegar - Vitamin C Chop up then process up in blender/food processor so that things turn to slops. Put each blender batch into a big bucket. Usually leave the eggs & flaxseed oil for things that don't blend very well like the pumpkin and carrots. Ingredients should fill up a bucket. Mix bucket with big ladel till all mixed through then put into take away containers & freeze untill needed.
  10. Could be a skin irritation that female puppies can have and grow out of. It is mainly seen near their girly bits. I can't remember what it is called off the top of my head. Otherwise it would be just an irritation to something, maybe the dirt that was on it. I wouldn't worry to much unless it gets bigger, more of them appear or it begins to look more irritated. Just bath it in some luke warm salty water if you want to do anything. If your girl still needs another puppy vaccination get the vet to take a look at it then.
  11. Her head end or rear end? If it's her head end and in the middle of her stomach then most likely to be an umbilical hernia.
  12. The pugs get roo meat every few weeks. I probably only feed beef once a month if that.
  13. Leave him. He might get the runs from it though.
  14. I owuld say that she is wanting to be the boss. I would tell her off and remove her from the situation.
  15. I know the RSPCA down here have a vet clinic that the normal public can take their animals to. Last time I looked the prices were about average for all services. On occasions I am pretty sure they have run desexing and microchipping campaigns where for a certain time these two things were a little cheaper to the general public. Current cat desexing and microchipping special offer
  16. I think that my pug girl only grew out of peeing in excitment a few years ago. She is now 6. My only suggestion is to make sure she is toileted frequently so her bladder isn't full when she becomes excited.
  17. I disagree with you. My vet said he has done heaps of bowel surgery from lodged chicken necks. Because he has done so many of these ops. he advises against feeding chicken necks to dogs at all. The whole necks made it through the stomach and into the bowl intact? I know that in some cases dogs can have bowl obstructions due to a build up of bone mass but this usually occurs due to their diet having to much bone and not enough meat, veggies offal etc in it.
  18. As long as it made it down his throat and into his stomach, which seems to have occured, things should be fine. Problems arise when dogs get things stuck in their throats which can then block off their airway leading to the dog passing out and possibly dying. I cut my pugs chicken necks up into bite sized pieces because they try to swallow things. Chicken necks are the perfect size to block off their airway.
  19. As Staranais said follow the advice of your vet. Each vet clinic has a different way of doing things in terms of vaccinations. Some use a three vaccination schedule whilst others use a two. Personally I would opt for the three as it is more then likely that because your pup was vaccinated at 6 weeks it had no effect.
  20. Sounds like she is scared of upstairs. What is she like with you if you hang out downstairs?
  21. The only people allowed to microchip are those who have done the course and hold a licence to do so. I owuld think that most breeders get their vets to chip their pups. Why no just include it in the cost of the pup?
  22. Puppies like to chew wood. I have teeth marks in my wooden stairs and bookcase from naughty puppies. I would go with the metal puppy pen/ bunnings pen. A plus is that you wont have to bend over it to get the pup in an out of. You can just swing open a panel.
  23. Personally I would be wary of anything that was called 'miracle' and claimed to cure many and varied diseases.
