Oh no poor baby. Vibes for him. Do thye know what the cause of his pancreatitis and renal failure is?

I wouldn't bother with the vet. It is a reaction but pretty harmless. It occurs sometimes and will go down over the next two or so weeks. Massage it gently when you think to do so. I think I have had three rescues, that I was fostering, that have had the reaction and all of their lumps fixed themselves over time.

80% meat is way off. If you are feeding a BARF diet then it is supposed to be approx 80% Raw Meaty Bones with the other 20% being made up of veggies/fruit, offal, dairy and muscle meat.

Fingers crossed for the MRI.

Stop bathing. I have never been told to do that with the many that I have had desexed. The main instruction was not to get wet. (Wonders what they are teaching vet nurses these days) As for the lump some will get them some wont. Seeing it has been 5 days since the op, some sutures coming lose should be ok as the wound should have closed up by now. You will sometimes also see irritation at the actual suture sites. This is due to the body rejecting the sutures and wanting to get rid of them. Don't worry. Once the sutures are removed the irritation resolves itself within a day or so.

Oh no prodigybxr. Thinking of your girl.

The marrowbones are more then likely what gave her the runs.

Yes I to would be getting a second opinion. Things like that don't just happen overnight. Are they sure it's not a UTI or some other generalised infection? Have they checked his prostate? How about suggesting some belly bands so that the poor old thing isn't kicked outside all of the time. http://www.petsonthepark.com.au/category40_1.htm

What is it that you are feeding RAW that doesn't agree with her? What exactly have you tried. Some dogs can't tolerate kangaroo because it is to rich whilst others have problems with the amount of fat that is on some chicken necks. If you feed to many sardines this can also cause stomach upsets.

I would be cautious in buying Frosty Paws as they are made by VIP pet food which have been known to use lots of preservatives.

Normal checking of the ears wont show up anything as the problem is in the inner ear which can not be seen. Did your vet prescribe any medications? I believe steroids can be helpful. -

If the inner ear is full of gunk and/or the bone has grown over then surgery can be performed to both get the gunk out and to remove the excess bone. -

Good stuff. Remember that dogs cope perfectly well with ECollars on it's us humans that don't cope with the dog bashing the collar up our shins. -

I would suggest something to do with the inner ear as well. The only real way to find out would be an MRI or CT Scan as you would be able to see if the inner ear was full of gunk and if the ear bones had grown over. Vestibular Syndrome usually comes on in a sudden hit and many people think that their dog has had a stroke. But alot of people report that their dog wasn't 100% on and off, ear infections nd just not happy, for a long time before the actual attack. -
Try either adding Omega 3 or evening Primrose Oil to her diet. Do you feed fish at all? The only times I have come across Dandruff is either on pugs that have had fleas or black pugs that haven't been washed or brushed for a long time. Seeing that you bath and brush regularily possibly try a different shampoo and the diet additives. There might be a possibility that she has a condition like psoriosis.

Are you completely washing her shampoo out? What shampoo do you use?

One Of My Dogs Stitches Has Come Loose
puggy_puggy replied to snr's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
Seeing he was just desexed I would suggest calling your vet and he will probably put new stitches in. With male desexing they only use a couple of stitches so if one has broken then there isn't much else holding him together. If it had been about 5 days I would have said not to worry because the wound would have healed sufficently. -
Good to hear. I would just be continuing to bath and do the warm compresses.
-
Stye, allergic, reaction or maybe just a fatty growth. Most likely a stye. Try bathing in warm salty water and putting a warm compress on it. Something I personally wouldn't rush off to the vets for. Now if there was something wrong with the actual eye ball that would be a different story.
-
Yes he's fine. It was just fat. I feel it every now and again to see if it has changed but it hasn't.
-
Jules with things like lumps no matter how hard you try not to think about it they play on your mind. For your sanity, at least, go get it tested again. My boy has a lump on his chest. I was pretty sure that it was just a fatty cyst but was freaking out untill I got it tested.

I think they can grow. Does it still feel the same other then it's size? If at all in doubt get another fine needle aspiration done.
