Hopefully it will pass through without problems. He will probably be bloated and producing yucky smells for a while. Fast him for the next day or so. And expect him to probably drink more water and blob around like anyone that has over indulged. As Erny said if he starts having problems going to the toilet or has blood in his poo then you may have a problem and a vet trip would be advised.

Any Thoughts On Using Pinetarsol To Wash Itch Dog ?
puggy_puggy replied to chepet's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
How long have you been feeding a BARF diet for? It can take a good few months for the body to basically detox. Do you include grains in it? If you still include things like rice and pasta then this could be causing the problem. What do you feed for treats? Things like smacho's and pigs ears have addatives that can cause itching. -
A friend was feeding her dog EP Holistic and the dog lost weight on it and I can vouch that it was going through her like nothing I have seen before. (The amount of poo she did on one of my mats was unbelieveable)

Sounds like he has a yeast overload/infection. Do you feed rice or pasta at all? Groomers Choice Evening Primrose Oil Shampoo has been very helpful to calm dogs itchie skin. -
Pugs Shedding Big Time - Help!
puggy_puggy replied to Madeleine's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
I've found that the pugs that are shedding the most are the ones that don't get regularily bathed or brushed. I have tried many brushes/grooming tools and the shedding blade, metal loop, is the best by far in getting rid of the hair. At tip is to use it when the pug is still a little damp from the bath. I bath the pugs once every 7 to 10 days and always have done so. Madeline just wait a little while and you will be oblivious to the hair. -
Wouldn't a BARF/RAW diet that contained very little fat be the way to go? Digestive enzymes included in every meal might be required as well. I am currently looking after a pug that has to have digestive enzymes sprinkled on every meal she has. Her food has to be low fat. She has 3 small meals a day. 2 of kangaroo BARF patties and 1 of chicken necks.

Have found Sasha's Blend online for $46.

Diet Help For My Dog With Colitis
puggy_puggy replied to daccydog's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
What were you feeding him before? I would not be feeding the rice apart from it not being necessary for dogs it is a grain and grains cause a high rate of allergies in dogs. Do some rearch on a BARF or RAW diet. If you are feeding just chicken meat and vegtables for weeks your dogs diet will be very lacking. -
Limping Hind Leg After Frisbee Play
puggy_puggy replied to Sticks1977's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
In hindsight it may have been worth resting him on the Sunday when the injury occurred, but considering I did not know how serious it was and that the lamenss in his right hind leg was still there I thought to see the emergency vet to get at least a diagnosis was the best course of action. I understand. When I first because a pug owner I would rush to the vets over everything. I've gained alot of knowledge over the last 7 years from both owning my own pugs and fostering rescues that these days unless it's something like an eye injury that I need meds for I either treat at home or wait a little bit before I hit the vets. Glad Fraser is doing better. I would continue resting him for the next week. If you think about whne we as humans get strains it takes a fair while for them to heal. -
Elongated Soft Pallet maybe. Where do you live? Could be that the weather is warming up and you are walking her in the heat.
-
I fed cooked chicken breast for a few days when my girl had a few teeth out. I would say stay off the bones for a week or so. You could more then likely feed minced chicken carcusses and veggie slops with no problems.
-
Like others have said she will hopefully grow out of it & in the mean time try to minimise her excitment and if possible take her to the toilet before you know she is going to be excited. My 5 year old female pug still will pee in excitment sometimes.

Remove the sand box. I would not be encouraging my dog to dig anywhere.

Work out your dogs ideal body weight. Work out what 2% of that body weigh is. Work out what 75% of that 2% is. This will be the chicken necks in grams Work out what 25% of that 2% is. This will be the veggies. ie.. If your dogs ideal weight is 10kg. 2% of that is 200grams 75% of that is 150grams (so 150 grams of chicken necks) 25% of that is 50 grams (so 50 grams of veggies)

I've found Sasha's blend helpful for my 7 year old pug that was limping from front elbow sorness. He had a course of Procaine injections which somewhat helped but did not completely get rid of the limping. i have had him on the Sasha's Blend for the last couple of weeks and I would say the limp is 99% better. If your doggy is even slightly overweight get that weight off her as it will help as well. Use veggies and fruit to help fill her up.

Limping Hind Leg After Frisbee Play
puggy_puggy replied to Sticks1977's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
I would be crate or puppy pen resting him for the next few days to see if there is any improvement. Did your vet tell you to walk him???? I probably would have crate rested him from the start rather then having to pay the crazy prices of emergency vets. -
What exaclty occurs?
-
If you don't want to crate get a puppy pen. Please do not walk your puppy till he has had his 16 week vaccination.
-
That's a long time to leave dogs alone. I would make sure that you walk them before you go to work so that they are tired out. As Sharon suggested it would be a great idea if you could get someone to come over and walk them or play with them whilst you are at work. I would not be getting a third dog if you are working such long hours.
-
When youa re at home take your puppy outside and tell them to 'go to the toilet' after the wake up, after they have a big play, after they have eaten etc When you are not at home. Get a puppy pen. Put plastic down & then newspaper. Mmmm I hope this puppy isn't coming from a well known Puppy Farm in South Australia that you can choose your puppy from photos on the website.

Dog Gone Pain Capsules
puggy_puggy replied to Staff'n'Toller's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
Have you tried other joint supplements like Sasha's Blend or Joint Guard? -
If you give it use the injection. They usually get snotty grotty noses with the inhalation.
-
What exactly is she eating? I would say 1 big chicken neck or two little ones and a tablespoon of veggie slops would be more then enough for Chi. I fyou were feedin a pure BARF/RAW diet then 1% to 2% of her ideal weight per day. How many snacks and treats does she get during the day? How many do you not know about that other family members are giving her?

Question About Purina Chewy Sticks
puggy_puggy replied to moggy's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
Wow 4kg is very overweight for a little Chi. Do you have a listing of the ingredients? I would presume that it has alot of fat in it but appart from fat and un needed carbs it probably has many artificial colouings and flavourings. Why not give her a lump of carrot or some other raw veggie. I am sure she will enjoy veggies just as much and it will not only have the teeth benefits but not contain nearly as many calories as the processed chew sticks. -
Does Seabreeze oil have any alcohol in it? I probably would be stopping it as well to see if it makes a difference. I know Perth has been really hot for the last few weeks, does the weather correspond to his hairloss or was it occuring before it warmed up over there? Is he itchie?
