  1. Agress with 'persephone'. ktn I don't believe your dog is having an erection whilst pooing. It is just that his penis is coming out of it's sheath whilst he is straining. When I first read the title of this thread I was thinking enlarged prostate which is what you confirmed. Apart from drugs to try and reduce the enlargement you could add more veggies or even flaxseed oil to his diet to make his poo a little easier to come out.
  2. Is there fish in their food every day? Could be the cause. And like ArtyFarty said if I have feed a bone or chicken necks that have been a little off then they have stunk the house out.
  3. please!! i have the day off tomorrow, so im up for it!!! Hands TB a glass A bottle of wine for me thanks.
  4. Um and what happend to MinMin? Kreepy, Leight & MinMin?
  5. Would have been cheaper to cut the foor open whilst the dog was under for something else then it having to go back and go under again. How's Kreepy's foot now? Aren't Leight and Kreepy sisters, and therefor the same age? Or has Leight been desexed?
  6. I'm guessing it was a dose of apomorphine... That's not stomach pumping then. It's inducing vomiting.
  7. Um maybe a new keyboard might be a good idea rish.
  8. Um only $32 to pump a stomach? Um what the whatty what what?
  9. How could you not notice a burr in your dogs foot for a month? Why would any vet want to cut open a foot because of dermatitis? I would see that a vet would more likely xray a foot and a leg if a dog had unexplained limping. Look it's ok the OP saved money on the purchase of these dogs so she is making up for it with these strange medical issues. If I recall the pups were bought from a BYB/PF for something like $50. Goes to read the stomach pumping thread.
  10. Someone else in your house giving him food?
  11. Go with the antihistamine then. Try it for at least a week to see if it makes an improvement. 1/2 a day would be fine.
  12. I would be only giving a bone a day to get her weight down. Maybe alternating with the dry food which probably would only be a cup. There are some diet dry food on the market with much less calories then the normal stuff. If she is hungry add veggies to her meals.
  13. Sorry to hear about your boy. What did they say about his heart this time? Is it enlarged/ damaged? Problems with the heart can lead to other organs being damaged and shutting down especially the lungs.
  14. Congestive heart failure? Ongoing lung infection that the current antibiotics can't help? How often do they cough? An ex foster of mine would cough every now and again. Xrays were taken, antibiotics were given and of course no improvement. Ended up putting her on half a claratyne (antihistamine) every day and it has cured her cough which was most likey a bronchial irritation. Could be worth a go with your neighbours dogs.
  15. What exaclty are you feeding? I find that after bones, I feed lamb flaps once or twice a week, my two will make more smells then normal. But, thinking back, on the whole I would say that my two make less smells on the BARF diet then on their previous diet that contained dry food.
  16. What sort of bone? Hard or soft. I suppose it could have irritated him throat if he had a piece that was to big and didn't go down properly. Could also be that he swallowed an ant/bee/wasp etc that was hanging around the bone and it has irriated his throat. Or maybe even dust from outside has irritated it. If he doesn't seem to be in any breathing distress I would wait and see. You could perhaps give an antihistamine tablet to help with any swelling if he has swallowed a nasty.
  17. Put your dog outside. So much more exciting for him. Make sure you fencing is secure. Maybe block off under the house if you are worried. Make sure he has plenty of water and a sheltered area with a bed in it.
  18. It's up to you. It seems she is not throwing up all the time and not big amounts. If she was constantly throwing up and all the time then you would have a problem. Personally I don't think that a vet could tell you much more then most of us have already. See how she goes with you getting rid of the rawhide, pigsears and other nasties. And feeding her a little later in the night.
  19. Agrees. Does your dog look dehydrated? Has the vet said your dog is dehydrated? You can't be watching your dog 24/7 so you wouldn't know if they went and drank when you weren't watching. What do you feed? If you are really concerned set up a webcam or similar showing all your dogs water bowls and record what happens. Lastly if you really think your dog is not drinking get yourself a big 60ml syringe. Fill the syringe with water. Get your dog and syringe the water into your dogs mouth slowly so that it drinks it.
  20. Get rid of the pigs ears, raw hides and any other treats like that you give her. They are full of fat and nasty stuff. Alot of dogs can not tollerate this fat so throw up small amounts of bile because of it. What treats are you giving her as reward treats? Read the labels very carefully of these things as they often contain a multitude of preservatives which cause problems. Go to your butcher and get non weigh bearing bones thta your puppy can eat fully. I usually feed lambs ribs (lambs flaps) or lambs back bones. The dogs, even puppys, munch on these till they have eaten them in full. Lastly sometimes puppies do have a bit of reflux just like babies. Could be something she gorws out of.
  21. Are they browny or redy? If they are browny then I would say a yeast infection but they do look red don't they. Could be that she is scratching herself where she has less hair. Give the Curash a go I'm pretty sure it will sooth it at least a little bit.
  22. Could be anything from an allergic reaction to plants, hot spots or a food allergy. Check your garden for nasty plants. Get some salty water and bath the spots and dry and apply some curash powder, if weepy, or curash cream if dry(curash is babys nappy rash powder & cream from the chemist or supermarket). If the sores don't improve in the next few days she could have a staph infection and need antibiotics to get rid of it. Remove all grains and processed food from her diet.
  23. Sounds like an infection from rotting teeth. The dog will have to dog under GA to have them cleaned and any rotting ones removed. How old is the dog and what breed?
  24. Do you have any medicated creams or even Physohex (the human acne facewash cream)? These would be a better option.
