They still don't understand that effective policing of current legislation would probably have the desired effect -rather than just adding another layer of legislation that won't be policed effectively to catch out those actually doing the wrong thing... *sigh* Effective policing of legislation would require an investment... and no government wants to be spending anywhere near enough on that... grrr! T.

The transcript of the Pets Australia submission is interesting... the committee keep referring to "scum" (certain breeders)... WTF?? T.

I read a number of the transcripts, and have come to the concluson that the committee isn't in the slightest bit interested in changing the bill as proposed. They were downright sarcastic and rude in many instances as well, which did not come across as very professional IMHO. T.

... but we don't have to take any of it into consideration because the animal welfare activists will be off our backs, and they are louder and nastier than those who just want to get on with doing the right thing... T.

Massive hugs westiemum... the pain doesn't go away, but we can smile at all the happy memories our pals left us, yes? T.

Funnily enough, I got mighty lucky with the adopters of my foster pack of 9 pups... no-one questioned the $400 adoption fee at all... ... then again, they were the most socially well adjusted and healthy pups I've ever had here... massive credit to the lady in Tennant Creek that raised them from birth until sending them to us! Didn't hurt that they let me take some pretty awesome photos of them doing fun puppy things too... hehe! T.

So - last night having dinner at the pub with friends, and friend says a workmate was asking about how to get a puppy. Puppy must be small breed, and not going to grow very big. It's for 11 year old daughter. Workmate and family are of Asian background, so most likely want white and fluffy. When friend advised about toilet training, workmate said he'd read that you could get dog nappies... WTF!?!?!? Imagine SWF in a nappy... how gross would the back end become? Told friend to tell workmate to buy a stuffed toy, as he's obviously not ready for the real thing... *sigh* T.

Awww... it's so nice when they decide to be besties... T.

Set up a playpen or largish crate to put pup in and let Raff greet without being jumped on or pup getting frightened of his advances (if he's a bit boisterous or feeling nervy). Every time I get a foster, I set them up in a large crate before I let the resident dogs meet them one at a time... just a bit of a barrier in case one or the other isn't fussed at first. T.

I've used both on my pet foxes and dogs with no issues... and foxes can be a bit touchy with certain medications... T.

My council (in NSW) only just realised this year that 2 of my dogs weren't registered yet... Pickles is 6 and Harper is 4... lol! T.
