  1. Maybe K9 is starting a rival forum for training in drive and seminar discussions etc? ;) Thats what I thought when I read that.
  2. Oh no so sorry to hear of your loss ;) He sounds like a special boy and will be sorely missed. Run free at the bridge Olmpus Hugs to you Caesars Mum ;)
  3. I didnt even notice the RSPCA man, I found out about it after the fact. I think I was too cold, brain must have been numb
  4. I may be interested in the workshop. Depends when it is though.
  5. I think Steve usually books some private consults as well if he comes down to do a workshop. If he has enough time that is
  6. I took this information to my vets a little while ago and tried to discuss three yearly vacs for my dog. They just sort of fobbed me off with we follow the protocol the vaccine company provide for their product. They say you need to administer them yearly so that's what we recommend. They wouldn't entertain the idea of three year vaccines. I really don't know how they can just dismiss what the AVA are saying. I was very disappointed, but they are really good vets for everything else and I have no other vet to go to. I decided not to get my dog vaccinated again. So far they haven't harassed me, we have a silent agreement not to bring it up.
  7. For a non complicated snake bite treatment it cost me $1250. Thats just one vial of antivenom and home the next day. My vet did let me know about cost but while she was setting up the drip etc. They would NEVER delay treatment to get payment up front. But maybe that vet has had trouble in the past with people paying
  8. X 2 I made a $1200 claim just one month after signing up. No hassle or fuss, cheque came in the mail a few weeks later.
  9. I tried to set up a system along the bottom of my boundary fence to stop my girl going under the fence and chasing roos. The smart bugger learned very quickly how to worm her way around the tape and not get zapped. It was something to watch, she became quite a contortionist.
  10. I have a 5 acre 'bush' block in a 'resource zone' . . . also a kennel area. I had a lot of escape problems until I put two strands of electric fence (no collars . . . the stuff they sell for horses and cattle). I can't say the dogs were pleased by the electric fence . . . but they respect it. Have had no problems since it went up. It can be made inconspicuous and I don't think your local authorities will give you grief. If she's jumping (mine were digging under), electric fence won't stop her . . . but you may be able to teach her it isn't safe to get near enough to the fence to jump . . . eg, put up three strands a metre inside your boundary fence. I had to do this for my GSD. She was fine when I was out but would jump the fence when I was home and had to go out onto the block to check the horses or what not. I can tell you I felt terrible when she got zapped, BUT it only took one go and she has never jumped it again. I dont even have it set up now. You can get 'stand offs' that will hold the tape out about 20cm from the fence, so they should not be able to get to the fence to jump before they get zapped, or it should zap them while on your side of the fence. It does depend on how your dog jumps I guess, it could still clear it.
  11. When my GSD girl was 12 weeks old, I took her with me to a horse sale as I didnt want to leave her home. When I went to register the lady cooed over her, what a cute puppy etc. She then asked what breed she was. GSD I said. She immediately backed away with a look of horror and disgust. "They arent very nice dogs you know, she will turn on you when she gets older, dont trust her for a second. Horrible, horrible dogs" she said. I was crushed. She was only 12 weeks old, the lady acted like she was going to rip her thoat out at any second.
  12. I couldnt see him on the site. hopefully he has found a home. There was however a Black girl that looks just like mine. If only I could have 2 dogs!
  13. Great looking dogs Are there many in Australia?
  14. I second what secertkai says. My very tall GSD fits into her 107cm comfortably. I think a Frenchie would get lost in it
  15. Ooh in that case I would LOVE you to come up to Mansfield :D . But seeing as how I am probably going to be the only one here wanting to see a specialist, I would love Wangarrata, but would go to Albury if you go there. Do you have any idea when are you thinking of?
  16. Excuse my ignorance, but will this just be for certificates or will they be doing other things as well?
  17. K9 force have good ones, I got mine from them http://www.k9force.net/index.html?row2col2=mart.html I also have one for sale in member market place Its a black medium size.
  18. So sorry to hear of your loss Keplie-i. RIP Buddy  ETA Im glad you took the day off today and could be there with him. Im sure that Buddy appreciated you being with him
  19. Mica has done this. She has high prey drive but didnt want to play sometimes in the early stages, mostly when we started to take the show on the road and train in different places. It was a bit disheartening but you get past it. It did help that Steve didnt give up on us :D at the cat. Distraction training for Daisy??
  20. I wish could forget I must have looked like an idiot, hope the neighbours werent watching. They allready think Im a bit weird though.
  21. Yep, but only cos I'm so bloody stubborn that I refuse to give up ;) I wouldn't be getting anywhere with Daisy if I weren't so stubborn! Dammit, beagles can do it just as well as any other dog, and I WILL prove it Just as well you are stubborn then. I have no experience with Beagles but I think Daisy looks great! Youve daone a great job with her
  22. I think you look good secretkai. I remember back to my first training session. I thought this will be good, no worries, Ive played tug with the dog before nothing to it. I produced the orbee, dog launched like maniac. Me, completely unprepared for the 'enthusiasm' shown by Mica moved backwards in a rush only to trip over a stick on the ground. I ended up flat on my back with a 34 kg dog who decided I must have wanted to play stacks on, on top of me trying desperately to get the orbee. I was laughing so hard I couldnt get Mica off me to get up and yes I am glad i didnt have the video set up for that one! I think the most embarrasing thing though, is I think I tripped over the day after too when I stepped in a hole. I learned to check my ground thouroughly before commencing training, even a tiny stick could end in disaster. I felt pretty awkward when I fisrt started the training but with practice you do get better and more coordinated. keep at it!
  23. Yep, I think so to. How is Kei going Secretkei? Hope your still enjoying your training. Mica and I have had to go back a step, seems I got a little carried away and moved ahead a little to fast
  24. Who the hell buys a tiny puppy from a 12 year old in the middle of the night?? And what was a 12 year old doing outside a shopping centre 'sometime' between 11pm and 5am? or was it not the child that sold them?
