  1. I was talking to a council ranger yesterday who informed me that there is someone in a one tonner towing a trailer with dog crates. Apparently the vehicle, has been seen in the Muswellbrook, Singleton and Lower Hunter area, no one as yet have been able to get a no plate. The sightings have coincided with dog thefts in those areas. Dogs have gone missing from back yards. I did see something about this on a facebook page as well. So everyone please keep your dogs very secure when you are not home. If anyone sees this vehicle please get their Rego No.
  2. Having a dog sleep with a muzzle on There are some horse products that you can apparently use for dogs, I'm thinking of getting them for my Pointer. The name escapes me but head to your local Horseland/Nag Mart and ask them. I guess some horses chew rugs too? Why not????? they are light wire and hundreds of dogs wear them to stop them destroying things. Some of my dogs had to wear them 24/7 to stop them chewing in the dog trailer. :) Are the soft plastic ones as effective, or would the dog push it into it's mouth & chew it???? I've thought about getting one for my young fellow to stop him chewing the inside of the car while travelling...or his seatbelt. I was thinking of using a spray. I use one of these on Smooch to stop him licking his leg off a night, they can drink through this one. http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/DOG-CANINE-PLASTIC-BASKET-DOG-MUZZLE-SIZE-MINI-AVAIL-BLACK-BEIGE-NEW-/110801341251?pt=AU_Pet_Supplies&hash=item19cc464b43
  3. A greyhound trainer who I have repaired rugs for has the front sewn together and reinforced with several layers of old elect blanket strips to make the front very thick, that seems to have solved the problem with the greyhounds.
  4. It reads similar to the ones they had for humans to stop mozzie bits a few years ago, I did try those and they were useless.
  5. ((((HUGS))) T & S RIP Beautiful Tara
  6. Unfortunately if the dog owners do not have any assets there is no point in suing as you can't get blood out of a stone.
  7. My kelpie does the same thing ie licks when we are not at home. Did this basket muzzle stop your dog licking his leg - I am worried that a dog could get his tongue through the gaps in the mask. thank you. It does stop Smooch, but he only licks of a night or if I am in the shower. He is too busy sulking if I am not home and doesn't lick than. I also have it on him pretty loosly so that he can get it off. I had tried the E collar but he really hated it.
  8. recent topic on the same http://www.dolforums.com.au/topic/237722-going-to-bed-without-chewing-stitches/page__p__5841131__fromsearch__1#entry5841131
  9. Looking through the catalogue their sale starts 31st May until 16th June. Weatherbeeta Buddy dog rug $14.95.
  10. Try a basket muzzel. http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Basket-Style-Cage-Dog-Muzzle-Size-1-/170798249388 Smooch wears one every night as he has a sore on his leg that he won't leave alone,he only licks when I am asleep or when I can't see him.
  11. Shredded newspaper in a doona cover or sew up a blanket. When it gets a bit smelly, throw out the newspaper and wash the cover. Great insulation.
  12. Same here. I think the old saying (What works for one doesn't necessary work for another.)
  13. Hope Clara turns up safe and sound. There is a good chance she is trying to find her way back to you. We had a foster dog here on temp care for a few days, she than went to a long term foster carer where she got away from, 3 weeks later was found on a property 20K away heading in our direction. She was handed into the pound. So good luck with finding Clara.
  14. I like these. http://www.petcompany.co.uk/acatalog/Online_Catalogue_Chain_Collars_and_Leads_71.html
  15. I think the bark collar would probably stop the barking. You would possibly need a remote collar to stop the fence running. With the remote you can say whatever command you want to use when the dog is fence running and than use the remote if the dog doesn't listen. We have a dog that runs all day and barks. The bark collar stopped the barking until she discovered how to wear out the battery in the collar without getting zapped, than she would bark. The fence running didn't worry us as there is no one near the fence so we didn't work on that.
  16. I didn't bother trying to send mine back, just going to use it this winter for PJ's for Smooch, will keep his belly warm, just going to fit it a bit loosely.
  17. I got one for Smooch, I thought it worked the first time I used it but than it never worked through other storms. I got better results with Rescue Remedy. I think it is just one of those things that what works for one doesn't for another. I just got Petbarn's catalogue and they have them for $44.82.
  18. http://www.abc.net.au/news/2012-04-10/man-sentenced-over-pony-deaths/3941514?section=nsw Earlier story http://www.abc.net.au/news/2011-12-19/highway-dumping-of-25-dead-ponies/3738186 http://www.abc.net.au/news/2011-12-23/man-to-face-court-over-dumped-dead-ponies/3744898 I think he should have got longer.
  19. This is so true with Smooch, my vet takes him in and I have to stay out other wise the vet can't do a thing with him. If I am not there no problems.
  20. I bought these tags and am very happy with them. http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/120545827497?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1438.l2649
  21. I have a dog that outsmarted the e collar, she worked out that if she barked once, collar would beep, that she would stop for a min, this would go on until the battery went flat, once the collar stopped beeping she would go into full bark non stop, driving everyone mad including myself as she had a very high pitched bark. I am lucky though that I live on acreage in town where I was able to build a yard further down the paddock where I can only just hear her barking. She was a rescue from a pound and she probably ended in the pound as she is a chronic barker.
  22. I was going to get some until I read somewhere where a snake had actually wrapped itself around one. So no idea really but I am not going to waste my money on some.
  23. So sorry for you and your sisters loss.
