  1. I have Smooch covered by Pet health Plan (Insuranceline). About two months after taking out the insurance in 2002 Smooch had a Spinal Stroke(FCE)from which he has never fully recovered. Massive vet bill of which they paid 3/4. The vet bills have been ongoing and they have always paid out within a couple of weeks of lodging the claim.
  2. Can't vote in Q3. My insurance is with Pet Health Plan (Insuranceline) wasn't sure if it is the same as Pet Plan but don't think so. You might need to have Other...
  3. If you have cats, I would advise against permoxin. Permoxin is toxic to cats. Just as well you mentioned the cats, but we don't have any cats so not a problem for us.
  4. We haven't had a lot of flies here over the last couple of years. Only those horrid biting ones. I sprayed my legs with repellent when outside and still got bitten. the only thing I have found working on the dogs ears is heavy thick grease. The down side is that it attracts dirt but I would rather see the dogs ears plastered with dirt than fly bites. I don't know if it is the dirt plastered on that stops the flies but at least its working. The stuff I have is very old stuff that used to be used on dairy cows teats. It is that thick that I have to stand it in hot water to make it usable. The product is basically a very heavy Lanolin with some type of oil addeded but over the years has separated.
  5. Nice to see Rusty is happy. Its also nice to see follow ups on the poundies. And thanks to David and everyone else that made it happen.
  6. Smooch (Kelpie) has used one for quite a while now. I empty it every morning, spray the fake grass with a order neutralizer than wash it with the garden hose. I bought some fake grass from Bunnings, cut it to the same size and when I think I can still small it I change it over and leave the other one in the sun, normally change it about once a week. Smoochies urine does smell strong at the best of times due to his disabilities. The Reject shop have them for $30 atm.
  7. Another one here for a basket muzzle, Smooch wears one every night as he has a sore on his leg that I have been trying to heal up for months, he only licks it off a night when I am asleep or when I am in the shower, he is so cunning about it. It is nearly healed up I just have to make sure I put it on him of a night. One of these. http://www.farmerswarehouse.com.au/product.php?productid=22552&cat=606&page=1
  8. Six weeks, I was in Sydney having skin grafts and treatment to my arm. Smooch was only six months old, when I got home I got the shock of my life to find he had lost a lot of weight and had also forgot me, After a couple of hours he worked out who I was. These days I can't leave him for more than about four hours, in summer not even for that long as he won't eat or drink if I am not home. It is a real issue. Our other dogs couldn't care less if we are not around. If your dog's are happy when you are not around they should be fine. I think it all just depends on the dogs.
  9. She was in NSW when we had dealings with her, don't know where she is now.
  10. Link doesn't work for me. Smooch licks his back leg, it has been going on for years now. Vet has checked him and can find nothing. He only does it when I am home. Off a night he has to ware a muzzle as he only does it when I am asleep, he sneaks to the bottom of the bed so that I don't notice him. I have now also had to put the muzzle on him while I am in the shower, he will come in to make sure I am actually in the shower than he goes out onto the lounge and start licking. He is just so cunning in doing it. He never licks when I am not home.
  11. Ok. Sorry didn't click that its in NSW, my bad Do you know if it is legal in VIC? No idea in Vic. Your vet should be able to advise you.
  12. Is de-barking illegal? Because I have a friend that is considering having her dog de-barked, she hasn't spoken to her vet yet. I'll have to pass on the info. :) In NSW its illegal unless you have a council nuisance order and a stat declaration signed by a JP sense order
  13. Was thinking the same. I have one on my bed for Smooch as he sometimes has accidents especially in cold weather. I washed it yesterday in the washing machine and it was dry by night time.
  14. I live about 5klm's away from Pokolbin and in 20 years have never seen a tick on any of my animals, dogs, horses or cattle. But than I can't guarantee there are none. My daughter works at our local vet, will get her to post when she gets home from work this afternoon.
  15. I just bought 3 +3 and the postage was still only $3.00 that makes them $5.50 each, pretty cheap. I had some tags (some old stock) engraved and the engraving cost me more than these tags are.
  16. We have a storm approaching one clap of thunder and Smooch was heading towards ES's bedroom to hide, I grabbed the thundershirt and got it on him. Smooch is now laying on the floor next to me, still trembling a little but no where near what he used to. Everytime there is a huge rumbel he lifts his head looks around than puts his head down although he is still shaking a little. I am really surprised as I didn't really think it would work on him, by now he would normally be hiding under my computer table shaking the table.
  17. Smooch is the same, but if I ignore him he puts his nose under my arm and pushes it off the keyboard LOL.
  18. This is Diesal. He does have tan points that don't really show up too well in the pic. and Paige, Smoochies full sister 2 years younger.
  19. This is Jimmy my new working dog. I would class him as a fawn although he has now gone more of a chocolate colour in the couple months since I got him. Smooch is a Smokey, no tan whatsoever only a little white on the chest. The Smokeys are very hard to come by.
  20. I don't have pics of my fencing atm. but mine is similar, I added the heavy gauge chicken wire to the barb wire, added a strand of plain wire right on the bottom of the fence to secure the chicken wire to. I had to run a second lot of narrow chicken wire to the top and next strand of barb. I also have a strand of off set elect fence about one foot from the bottom and about half way up to stop the dogs trying to dig under or to jump up on the fence. None of our dogs are jumpers and all are elect fence trained. the elect fence also stops the cows or horses rubbing on the fence when they are in our top 2 acres. No idea of cost as the fence was replaced a few years ago, I have added the chicken wire to the fence over the last couple of years.
