  1. fast shutter speed unless you want to pan. :D If you can get down low it's effective, but if not feet well apart, steady stance so you can turn to follow them as they pass.
  2. the council found me by a search for who owned whippets in this area. I think they can search by breed here in Vic.
  3. Yep, sounds like he's up himself. no thought to the private intimacy of the content. I wonder if the families are aware he's showing off their grief like that.
  4. You have a ginger female cat!! I've heard that they're uncommon, but I've had 4 ginger cats in my life and all have been female, the last one looked very much like yours.
  5. how is she this morning? I wonder if in future when she gutses her dinner you might be able to simply burp her. When hand raising puppies I discovered that if you rub their back after they eat it causes them to burp, just like human babies. I still do it with my adult dogs sometimes.
  6. I'm not even sure how I sign in anymore, cause I never sign out.
  7. That's great news Kirislin. Wow, 11 yo and first mating! Did the owners have a sperm count done first? Either way, it was a gamble but it paid off. :) No test prior, just let nature take its course.
  8. agree, for all him capturing the moment and feeling of it all, I think he's shown a complete lack of sensitivity and empathy.
  9. well trained and smart, looks like a heeler cross.
  10. If they'd written the original story about Marius on April 1st we probably would've thought it was a joke too, in poor taste, but still would've thought it so ridiculous as to be untrue.
  11. did they first look at why she was shaking her head? Years ago Penny got a grass seed in her ear. The vet took it out but she'd already given herself a pretty severe haematomas on both ears. I was sent home with panalog ointment, and also told to ice pack her ears. I turned her ears inside out, folded them on top of her head and bandaged them like that for as long as she'd put up with it and laid an ice pack on top for about 10 minutes at a time. They healed perfectly, no cauliflower ears, she still has the beautiful folding rose ears of a whippet. I remember at the time the vet was impressed with what I'd done and commented that if anyone can get them right without the need for further treatment it was me.
  12. I think if you pay a fee you can get the paperwork from your canine authority, I dont know what it's called in SA
  13. Nothing that can be done about that. Once a pup leaves the breeder & it is entire with or without papers, limited or mains, any dog can be bred from. A stat dec or form of contract may intimidate & deter some people not to or to desex but that's about it. I'm aware of that but I still hope they dont do it.
  14. good you got the money, I hope they dont use him to make money with by breeding from him though.
  15. Yes, I definitely think he should have warned of what they were.
  16. that's along the lines I was thinking too.
  17. very cute doggies and photos. I need a set of stairs like that for Penny. She gets weaker by the day and I have to get out of bed to lift her up.
  18. good luck, I know we all worry when our babies have to have any treatment. I'm hoping it's all very boring and benign.
  19. was the vet an eye specialist? I ask because a couple of years ago my whippet Kibah had a red spot on her actual eye. My vet was pretty sure it was a tumour and her eye would need to be removed, although luckily he did say to me to just watch it for a few days. Fortunately, I was getting an eye specialist out at the same time to see my horse, and I asked him to take a quick look at Kibie's eye. He said it's nothing to worry about and just watch it. It was just luck that I got him to look, otherwise Kibah would probably have had the eye removed. I know yours is different but sometimes a 2nd opinion is worthwhile.
  20. I am delighted to announce that Vanilla (from Roskyle Italian greyhounds) gave birth to 3 little seal and white puppies on the 25th as predicted. 2 girls and one boy, all doing well. These puppies were sired by an 11 year old male who'd never had a mating before and some thought he'd be sterile, so very happy to report that he isn't. :D
  21. In Victoria it's more expensive to register an undesexed dog. Perhaps report them to council. They needn't know it was you who dobbed them in. Sometimes the council do random checks. They might not want her if they have to register her and it's expensive.
  22. I was bailed up on my own property once by an aggressive dog who used to hunt roos on my property pretty much every day. When I complained to the council they said I had to catch the dog and tie it up before they would come out.
