  1. is there somewhere one can do a course on safe snake handling? When I had the copperhead by the kitchen door with dogs going crazy I either couldn't get anyone to come, or I couldn't afford them. I ended up picking it up myself. I was lucky it was a copperhead and not a tiger snake I suppose.
  2. there has to be much more to this story if it is even true. Dogs dont just stroll up and start eating us while we're sleeping.
  3. going from first mating this Saturday, Aug 3rd. I cannot sleep, I'm worrying about her, hoping all goes well. last email I had was last night (Thurs) and her temp was normal then.
  4. I got some teats from the vet. Hoping we wont need them anyway. I wouldn't tube feed, I'd be too afraid of getting it wrong. I saw an idiot bloke kill a calf that way, it was a horrible death. I'm sure it's easy when you know how, but I've bottle raised a litter before and if I need to, that's how I'll do it again.
  5. yes it's a push pull isn't it. much quicker than the twist once you get used to it, so if something's coming towards you at speed you can zoom out as it gets closer to keep it all in frame.
  6. I'd love to!Hey, you could come down and use it at one of our fun days! :D
  7. lucky you. I know what you mean about being intimidated by it. I think it took me about 3 days to unpack my first camera, I was so scared of it. That's the lens I would love for the whippet fun days. I think it would be perfect. I'll be looking forward to seeing your photos. Have fun.
  8. I used to work in the public service and very occasionally I took a whippet to work. My boss at the time was understanding and said as long as she's quiet she can stay. She was injured and I was worried about leaving her at home. This was about 25 years ago so I was pretty lucky to be allowed to take her. She'd just lay quietly under my desk but sometimes a client would notice and loved to be able to pat her.
  9. Had a quiet day yesterday and she doesn't look like she's going today either. Her owner emailed me this morning that her temp hasn't dropped yet. This is what she looked like yesterday. Compare it with the pic 3 days earlier. IMG_4948dppttime by kirislin, on Flickr
  10. We're really hoping so, still no temp drop as of this morning. I've had a sleepless night worrying about her and her owner, and it's nothing to do with me! other than being their friend. (mr rolly eyes directed at my silliness here)
  11. Oh dear, look at her today, just 3 days after the last photos were taken. IMG_4948dppttime by kirislin, on Flickr compare with Sunday 5F6A7115dpp by kirislin, on Flickr
  12. Lovely shots. I really like the out takes  they're cute.
  13. I'm on Dr watch today, I'll be staying with her, so she and I will be snuggle buddies on the couch together, which I'm looking forward to, because I haven't slept much.
  14. Of the few I looked at they all seem to be indoors. Try taking photos outside in the daytime. Then you can reduce your ISO a bit and increase your shutter speed.
  15. Ok, without even looking at the photos I'd say your shutter speed is way to slow.
  16. Post some photos and tell us why you aren't happy with them. Disclaimer I dont claim to be an expert, or even a photographer.
  17. Had there been any complaints or threats prior to this happening. Have your dogs ever escaped your property? Did you actually call the police to come and see what had been done to your poor dog. Perhaps just calling them wasn't enough. You need to make it an official report I would imagine. I admit I'm not up on police procedure.
  18. They must look like big fat blind seals  We need some photos.
  19. Even though the little girl is tiny she's still in good condition isn't she. She's got the best boobie.
