  1. I hope you get her back safely and soon.
  2. Do everyone else's dogs become especially attentive when you whisper to them. Mine always look at me really intently and concentrate really hard.
  3. What!! only one photo?! of a puppy?! not fair, we want more! He's very handsome, and cute and fluffy from the and only photo anyway :D
  4. when Penny had her puppies I posted a notice with photos up at the dog park. Not to advertise them, but as a birth announcement.
  5. It's a snapshot of life isn't it. I've often talked to my real life dog park friends about this too. And it's not just the dogs, I think about the people I've known from the park who've grown old, got sick and died. One day someone might mention me, remember the crazy woman with all those whippets?
  6. Poor Cloud I'm sorry Perry's Mum.
  7. He? looks so happy and relaxed, just soaking up the cuddles.
  8. what did the owners say when you showed them. Usually they just go Oh, I thought he was limping, he always licks his paw.
  9. an ex friend of mine had a hot water tap outside installed when she built her house about 35 years ago. I thought she was overdoing it at the time, but it was a really good idea.
  10. My whippet Kibah understands the wild magpies warning call for FOX! It took me ages to work out why all of a sudden she'd go nuts and start barking, then one day I followed her outside and there were the maggies all making their warning call while watching a fox trotting across the paddock.
  11. I used to be able to hypnotise my previous whippets Kiri and Iris. I'd just say sleeeeeepy whippet gently and they'd close their eyes. I used to do it with Feather but I've stopped now, but once when she was younger I did it while she was standing up and her eyes closed and she hung her head down, while still standing. It was very cute.
  12. Puck is very cute of an evening when he wants to go to bed. He'll come to me and I'll say, "do you want to go to bed?" I can see by his reaction that he does. I go into the lounge room with him and if he jumps on the couch before I can spread his blankie out, I say "hop off and I'll make it nice for you" he immediately jumps off again and waits. Then I say "Ok, get comfy" and he jumps back up and does his required number of turns before plopping himself down and waiting for me to cover him over. I know it's a learned routine, but if anyone was watching they'd think he understood every word I said.

  14. It sure seems like sometimes they understand what we're saying doesn't it. I think the closer your relationship with your dog is, they learn to read your body language, tone of voice and routines.
  15. great shots, I like the sepia to give them the old time look. I think the slipper is Gary Brett, he's the better of the two I know of. Very flamboyant isn't he. :D I took photos of him slipping when I first got my 400D and gave them to him on a disc. He was quite chuffed I think. They weren't anywhere near as good as yours though. I wasn't able to get very close. All the other coursing meets I attended I was driving the lure so couldn't take shots.
  16. If you have a Canon camera it comes with free editing programs. Basic, nothing real fancy, but you can sharpen, straighten, adjust colour, contrast, saturation, white balance, clone, and HDR, and probably a whole lot of stuff I haven't used.
  17. thanks, he said he's already got the biolac. I think he had it in mind to supplement mum if she needed extra nourishment but I think he should have the bottle and teats for bubbies just in case.
  18. a bit of light reading for you to absorb.
  19. thanks, it's been so many years since I've needed them. I'll check with my vet on Monday.
  20. not necessarily premmie, but I was talking to him about getting everything ready and suggested he have a bottle and a couple of teats just in case she doesn't have milk or for some reason cannot feed her newborns. I was speaking from experience because it happened to me with my very first litter.
  21. I have a friend who's Italian Greyhound will be having a litter soon and I suggested he have some rubber teats on hand. Do vets stock them?
  22. I didn't know he'd been at Melbourne all these years. For some reason I thought he'd been sent elsewhere years ago. What a sad life he had.
  23. did it come with the grog too? I'd say they printed the manual out. The Canon ones are probably just as big in that format.
  24. she looks pretty pleased with herself doesn't she. She found it at the park and paraded around with it for quite a while before eating it.
