Penny was pretty happy when she found this, and she ate it all. Gross warning
-
One of mine, Feather I suspect once ate the elastic netting that you get on some preserved hams. I only realised when I was doing poo patrol. She's the one who jumps up to raid the rubbish bag before I bin it. I was lucky she passed it with not problems.

that is horrendous. the blokes who helped him deserve bravery awards.

that plan may leave you in a pot of legal hot water --- the owners might be a bit precious about it and you've left a calling card... just sayin' so you dont get yourself into legal hot water make it anonymous. It will have them scratching their heads too they'll be like, Huh?
-
I agree with that.
-
I dont find her cute to look at.

since Kirty knows the owner it might be a good message to anonymously groom it and attach a note to its collar letting them know this is how the dog is supposed to look and that it was suffering with painful knots that pull at its skin and probably dirt and fleas. They can just have this tidy clean surprise when they come home. Perhaps also attach some grooming business phone numbers as well.

Hard to know for sure, although I think if I had a bitch whelping and something like that was born I'd have it humanely euthanased.
-
I just read one part where Rosie wore her skin away from a joint until she exposed the bone. The owner said it was one of her few working joints and she has a high pain tolerance.
-
it reminds me a bit of that paralysed kangaroo that some woman had in the US and she'd carry it round and dress it up. I think sometimes, just because something can be kept alive, it doesn't necessarily mean it should be.
-
I dont think so, I haven't seen anywhere that says she's being bred from.
-
I dont think they're breeding from her, but I too wonder and about keeping her alive, I hope she isn't in pain.

I've just seen this dog come up in my facebook feed. I was a bit shocked, I didn't know what it was at first. I cannot help wondering if it has complications just living its life with the deformities it has. I certainly hope not. Warning, the photos are rather confronting. https://www.facebook.com/MalibuRosie

Impounded Bull Breed Put Down Before Breed Assessment In Nsw
Kirislin replied to BlackJaq's topic in In The News
So the dog is not actually dead? Will there be a breed assessment then? And why are the owners claiming the dog was killed? ETA: Re: Owners being away and leaving the dog at home, we do that as well... We do have escape proof kennels and my father in law comes over and feeds everyone and checks on the auto waterer. I am very reluctant to leave my dogs in a commercial kennel or pet hotel when we go away and judging by the threads on that topic on DOL many others also avoid it if possible. Unfortunately my family lives overseas and we are unable to take pets when we go to see them. I don't think there is anything wrong with leaving pets at home in a familiar environment as long as they are cared for and cannot escape. I read Trisvens post as there's more than one dog. -

How sad that the dog wasn't registered and microchipped, it could still be alive today. -
the owners wouldn't recognise it as their dog if you cleaned it up.

geeze he really loves it doesn't he.

Does Anyone Have Advice For A Dog With Soft Pads?
Kirislin replied to Fordogs's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
I think I'd try once a day wash with betadine solution. Even if it's not fungal it wont hurt her, might be worth a try. If you do, make sure you get in between her toes as well. -

great shots, and it was all in real life, not staged like alot of nature shots are on a forum I am on. Is this far from where you live, if not, you're sure to be able to capture it all some day. What a beautiful place it is too. Lucky you. -
Normal Worming Regimen For Breeding Bitches?
Kirislin replied to Kirislin's topic in Breeders Community
I'm not breeding a litter, I was curious as to the norm. -
I have an elderly friend with a beautiful white shepherd that was a perfect 24kgs when he got her as a young adult rescue. He told me once he spends about $60pw on dog food!!!! Now she is massive. The last time I took her down to the vets to get weighed she was 34kgs but she looks alot fatter now. I used to take her to the park to let her run with my whippets because she loves them, but I dont dare now for fear of her doing herself an injury, like his last shepherd. I have tried many times to tell him she's too fat, and now I've said I cannot take her for walks because of it, but nothing will stop him feeding her, he equates it with love and affection. The funny thing was, when I was looking after her for him, she didn't seem like a food motivated dog. He's a dear friend, but he's a stubborn old thing and there's nothing I can do or say to get him to understand he needs to stop feeding her so much. It saddens me to see her like this.

all mine are in excellent condition and I'm constantly amazed at how little they actually need to eat to maintain a good body weight. me too. same here. I wish I cared as much about my own diet as I do for my whippets

A tablespoon? What is she, a mouse? She must be tiny! Although I'm used to my 45 kg boofer  I need to get me a little dog and save some cash! I was just thinking that! Mine go through a 20kg bag in a week and half-two weeks. No, she's not a mouse; she weighs in at 6.6 kilos. I've tried giving her more than a tablespoon, but then she seems to pack on weight -- this seems to be a good amount. She also doesn't just get the RC either -- there are plenty of treats during the day and a chicken wing every second day. I've actually had a lot of trouble with Kirah's weight since she stopped growing as a puppy -- it was hard for me to keep her at her ideal weight. Now I've figured out the balance! Zeus only gets 1/2 a cup of RC daily too and according to the pack, being as highly active as he is, he should be on close to 2 cups daily. He'd most certainly be a porker if I followed this guide and I can't help wondering if this is part of the reason there are so many overweight dogs around. I've found it's a matter of balance and a lot of time spent making sure you find the suitable amount for each individual dog. Plus it helps having a dog like Zeus -- he does nothing but motor around all day. He has two speeds: zooming and OMG MAKE WAY I'M TEARING THROUGH!! Good on you for not overfeeding her. Do you put it in her plate and think surely that's not enough, but then look at her and know it's right. That's what I do with my lot. 5 whippets only get about a kilo a night between the lot of them, and 2 are big boys. I should take a photo of the tiny amount I feed out.

Bloody Psycho Eat Anything Whippet/s!
Kirislin replied to Kirislin's topic in General Dog Discussion
 You know what they're like for sure. I thought the same thing and went shaking out blankets and other bedding. Haven't found it but it might even be outside. They've stolen avocado seeds before and licked them clean but never eaten one so I'm hoping that's the case. Then again, they've never eaten capsicum cores or eggplant before either. (I would insert mr rollyeyes here if we still had him) -
yes, I'm concerned too. Thinking of Rommi and hoping all is going well.
