  1. wow, you've got a real eye for this. I too love the 2nd tree one in particular and the ruins.
  2. definitely haven't taken offence. I had Ashs' comments ringing in my ears, about how people say Oh you've got a good camera, can you take my photos blah blah blah. Truly, I had no idea of what I was doing and I can honestly say, I've done a lousy job of them. I did warn my friend. sorry I wont be showing them. There was one bit I enjoyed doing in post processing, removing their zits!! and they have plenty, it was fun, but I had to remember not to get too carried away. I felt like a plastic surgeon.
  3. I dont know how wedding photographers do it. My friend was asked to take some pics of her friends son for the deb ball. She asked me to come along, she stressed they will be getting a professional to take proper photos later in the day, this was just as they get into the hummer. Thanks goodness they're getting a professional. I didn't want to do it but thought it's all practice for me cause I really only take pics of dogs. With the girls in dazzling white and the boys in blackest of black my camera had a hissy fit. Then I had to contend with proud mothers boof heads in the way, mud, girls squinting, OMG, it was a thoroughly unpleasant experience that I hope to never do again. No, I wont be posting any photos of it either.
  4. apparently they live in Yarra Glen/Steeles Creek which would explain why I saw them at Chirnside Park that day.
  5. What brand camera do you have. I only have very basic editing skills and only use the programs that came with my camera but you would be able to lighten that tree pic up and play around with shadows and contrast more to give more definition to it. I really like it though.
  6. Huh?! why aren't you happy with these? They are warm tones and lovely shallow depth of field and I think that tree is amazing!! Very moody and eerie, kinda spooky, I half expect to see a witch on a broomstick flying by. I love it. You can play around with the depth of field, I'm guessing you had it wide open for the doggy shots which gives a limited range of what's in focus. I like the effect but you might want it wider. They greyhound has lovely kind eyes doesn't he/she.
  7. I love it, I took some very similar ones of Puck and Penny a while back, but I dont know how to edit them like you. Justice is nearly as cute as Puck
  8. great, they're practically my neighbours.
  9. Please post your pics, no one will laugh at you here and you might get some good advice from someone who's had the exact same problem. You might be better off trying a side on view of those greyhounds with their long noses otherwise you might struggle to get what you want in focus.
  10. I've seen these 2 on ACA quite a few times over the years, usually painted in an eccentric but humorous light. I saw them shopping at Chirnside Park once and wondered if they live in the Yarra Valley somewhere but I dont know.
  11. No, I mentioned it in the post above yours.
  12. they showed footage of this poor dog last night with a kid trying to ride on its back!! As if its joints weren't overloaded enough.
  13. wow, she looks like 2 different dogs! Is she going blind though, her eyes look funny in the first pic. You've done a wonderful thing for her.
  14. aww thankyou! I feel like I am finally starting to get the hang of the 7D. It's only taken me a year and a half!
  15. Not as late as it appears, around 3pm. I like the warm look it has too but because I know it isn't the true colour I wasn't sure if I'd got carried away and made it too exaggerated.
  16. Yep, I just saw the front page of the Herald Sun, shamefull to let a poor dog get to that condition. I noticed the line asking if you have a bigger dog, idiots. It's nothing to be proud of. Interesting. They're doing a poll asking of the owners of fat pets should be prosecuted for cruelty.
  17. It was no trouble to give the B&W a go though, worth it just to see, but I am not keen on it. A more skilled editor would have been able to do a better job on it than me. My editing skills are very basic.
  18. thanks for the positive comments on my action shots everyone. I have been getting more practice and I too feel like I'm improving and starting to get the shots I've craved for. :D
  19. Thanks Shell. Stutterfly I've gone back and added a B&W version.
  20. I thought that's what I was doing. I might try a B&W version but I quite like the colour, I just cant decide which colour.
  21. hahaha you guys are no help! I've ended up going with cloudy which seems to be the inbetween.
  22. I had my WB on shade last Sunday, because I quite liked the orangy yellow cast it put on the pics, but I'm starting to think it was just a bit too overdone, so I've gone back and put it on daylight. Now I'm thinking it looks better. What's the general opinion please. WB Shade WB daylight and now I've added Cloudy to the mix and at Stutterflys suggestion. B&W I still prefer colour but it was worth a try.
