  1. Well done!! I love that photo, it has to be about the cutest spider I've seen. It does look like it's doing a doggy head tilt doesn't it.
  2. That's a good idea - I'm thinking somewhere that people at least have other options for things to do That would be awesome, if you're happy to take some photographs Actually, it'd probably be a nice opportunity for any mad keen dol doggy photographers as well. Let me get my map book out As far as taking pet portaits I dont have the experience to be confident at that but there are other really good photographers who might be interested in doing that as well. Becandcharch comes to mind, as does Clicking Mad, perhaps PM them if they dont see this thread. I'm sure there are others as well.
  3. Never heard of them before but I just went off to google and to my untrained eye they look alot like min pins. Very cute, I bet they'd be feisty little things if they're ratters.
  4. Not officially racing but because Feather is so damn cute, by popular demand here's a few more of my cute little tigress. ambushing Puck beating the cr@p out of Puck beating the cr@p out of someones jumper that was left at the sports ground wearing an old towel as a bathrobe and having a staring competition with me
  5. Beautiful photos Ripley. If I remember rightly, you owe us some photos, a few months ago now, might be 6 or more you went out in a boat I think, you might have had new equipment, lens or camera, I cant recall, but I'm sure you said when you got back that you took tons of photos and would edit them and then post them here. well.....................???? ....................... have you edited them yet? :D
  6. thanks Missymoo and Sezz. Of course Feather is my fave too, she's so little, only 9 kilos if that, and most of the dogs range between 12 -15 kilos, plus she's incredibly keen and excited when she runs. It's a pity I didn't race her there in her prime but there were a few reasons why that didn't happen which I wont go into now. I hope the club can get some more members, they've been going a long time now and they do what they do very well. I hope posting these photos gets the word out to whippet owners just what fun can be had racing your whippet. Of course if you dont want the serious competition, just fun runs, then come to our club at Healesville.
  7. Thanks all for the positive comments about my pics. I do love taking them. :D
  8. I think a while ago Ruthless had a 10-22 to sell. Not sure if she got rid of it or not, you might PM her. hmmmmmm?
  9. Isn't it always the way. I got my lens case back in perfect order which was good.
  10. If you are happy with the 1.8s perfomance I'd be waiting until it dies before replacing it. Cant advise on the other lenses only to say you will always find someone willing to can something. If I beleived all the negative threads about the 7d I wouldn't have touched it with a barge pole.
  11. I cant see a curve, that's why I thought you must have corrected it. I know DPP has a lens correction for distortion so I'm sure other programs do too.
  12. the bloke in the boat looks like he might be on the phone. "nah mate, nothing here, it's dead today"
  13. CM with that beach pic at 10mm did you have to correct the distortion? I thought it would make the horizon line look bent if you didn't.
  14. The Yarra Valley is lovely, lots of eateries for afterwards too. ;) I can provide 5 hounds for you to practice on. I can bring my camera and take pics of the drawings for you if you want.
  15. More pics. these two doing their dinosaur impressions. I have a girlfriend who cant stand seeing whippets in this position, it freaks her out for some reason. this photo would have her quivering in the corner. and those naughty salukis, not sure where the lure was here, he might have been chasing it or he might have just been taking himself for a gallop Pretty impressive seeing them run though. In front of the lure here, just going for a gallop and then jump the rails and pelt around the inside for 5 minutes or so Here's his buddy doing the same thing. tra la la la la, not ready to be caught just yet. nup, not yet.
  16. hahaha it's no secret, I bought it specifically so I could take action pics of whippets. I am obsessed! I've got the Canon 7d and that lens is the 70-200 2.8 IS.
  17. Yep! That's Al Muzdaher Farousi Razeel, or Razz, to his friends. My Mabby's brother. she rattled off his name and I just said I'll take your word for it. I loved him though, I'll post some more pics later. I think she said 4 were imported is that right? Was it you who was flown to Bahrain to whelp the bitch?
  18. I loved the imported boy. They both seemed heavier set than I remember Salukis but then I've only ever seen a few and that was years ago. They are very independent willful dogs by the looks of them. Once they'd run the course they both jumped the rail and ran around inside the track. They were in no hurry to be caught. The way she got them the second time they ran was to get the lure driver to keep them running around it twice to tire them out, they still didn't look very tired, I get the impression they could run for miles.
  19. Tooradins next race meeting is July 31st. Here's their calendar http://www.wrcv.asn.au/Calendar.html
  20. stride for stride Feathers sprint race, she took off like a rocket but the male got onto the inside and caught her in the last 15 metres or so. He reminds me of a soccer hooligan here.
  21. I enjoyed myself so much last month I went back again yesterday, besides I had to retrieve my good lens case that I'd left behind. Here are a few highlights. I wish I could manage to get pics of my own dogs as sharp as this but somehow it never seems to happen. This dog won but was disqualified because his owner forgot to muzzle him. My own tiny Feather at 9 years old returned as a guest competitor. She was soundly beaten by a much younger much bigger male, but neither she nor I cared, look how happy she is. :D a great big burly bloke in a tender moment. waiting.......... I saw Salukis run for the first time. This beautiful dog was imported from Bahrain
  22. Ooh when and where? I had a look at your facebook page, your work is fantastic, especially the whippet!!! :D
