  1. Thanks everyone. The conditions weren't good yesterday but I am tempted to go back on a brighter day in the hope of getting clearer shots. I wonder if they always howl in the morning.
  2. I've got a couple more awwooooos. :D see his pursed lips. he was wooing here too, then he'd throw his head back for the full throated wooooooooooooo. I wish they were a bit sharper though, the pics, not their teeth.
  3. I can really see the similarity with breeds like Shiba Inu and Akita.
  4. thanks, it was very dark and misty yesterday, hence they're not really sharp and clear but it was really pretty walking around there, just freezing though.
  5. I went to Healesville Sanctuary yesterday and could hear the dingos howling so hurried over to see this. Isn't he lovely. I had brought along a squeaky from one of the many dismembered toys I have. It was great for getting their attention. Squeak squeak! What did you say? I even got a cute head tilt.
  6. Yep, forget about Superman, Batman, Spiderman, and all the others. Now meet Australias very own Toilet Paper Man!!!!! Ta DA!!!!!!!!!
  7. Just keep practicing and taking note of the settings you have on the ones you like. It will start making sense after a while. As to getting action pics you just need to have a reasonably fast shutter speed, say, no less than 1/500th I suppose.
  8. I just went and set the redbubble one. Will it show up on existing works or is it only applied to new ones. I ask because it's not showing up on any existing ones yet.
  9. yay thanks persephone! annie I think I will have to investigate that, I've been far too trusting up till now.
  10. Well, this is timely, I was just thinking I hadn't seen you on DOL, I never would have looked in here though. Glad to hear you're on the mend.
  11. when you have the really shallow depth of field you need to focus on the eyes, unless of course you wanted to get the nose. Otherwise increase the f/stop number, the bigger the number, the smaller the hole and the wider depth of field, alternatively the smaller the number, like 1.8 means you get that very shallow depth of field, like where just the collies nose is in focus. You probably can sharpen your photos on the computer too which will make a difference. have fun.
  12. I've never worried about watermarks but a few photos I've taken I'm thinking maybe I should. I dont know how to do them though and I dont use photoshop. I have got picasa, can I do them on that? Also can people "steal" images off redbubble?
  13. Clicking Mad and I laid down on a very wet race track to get whippets racing. It was worth it though.

  15. I don't actually, I have... Wait a minute, you're trying to trick me! Post or get out
  16. Yes, this bit. Because it's fixed, it wont zoom things in closer, so if you want a close up, you move closer to the subject.
  17. What's wrong with starting to use it right now?
  18. Last months challenge was movement and this is what the 7D is especially good for. Since we haven't got a new challenge why not practice and post some shots up there. Yes all the dials and options are confusing and I still haven't mastered the art of quickly changing them. It certainly doesn't come as 2nd nature to me. There is the Q button though that might help you to change setting a bit quicker.
  19. She's massive!!!! Her personality seems to shine through. Is she a dilute harlequin? I'm not sure of Dane colours.
  20. Maybe we could just continue this months challenge. Here's Pucky yesterday. I'd planned on using TV at 1/200 but he wasn't running fast enough so I had to drop it back. Doesn't look as good but there's movement. I'm sure if I could just get them running flat out taken around 1/200 it would be really good.
  21. I'd be either taking them to the vet to get them to sick it up or giving something to them myself (as advised by the vet) to make them sick it up.
  22. that's a bit of a worry if they're so far out like that then. I might try mine in auto just to see how it behaves.
  23. I dont think I've ever used the green box setting, I would've started in AV but I too was confused and disappointed with some of my first shots and even now it can be finnicky, maybe it's like a finely tuned race car. You might have to look at all the custom functions and have a tweak of them. Almost everyone says the 7D needs to be sharpened. You can change it in camera but it's probably in post processing that you might have to do more. I shoot RAW and use the Canon program DPP and find it pretty good, but then it's the only program I have. Stick with it, it will get better, and when you get a good shot it will take your breath away. Go have a look at those tutorials I posted the link to, I found them very helpful.
  24. I've recently been given an old rangefinder camera, I think that's what it's called, does it count? I haven't got it working yet.
