Does Your Dog Have A Bad Photo Habit?
Kirislin replied to redangel's topic in Photos, Photos, Photos
Feather seems to be caught blinking alot too. -
The pink you see inside the nail is the quick, the brown staining you see on the outside is different. It might be something to do with the nail bed which is where the nail goes inside the toe. I've been told it's an infection but also told it's nothing to worry about. Not 100% sure. My 2 boys have it and it hasn't caused them any problems but I keep an eye on it to make sure the skin doesn't get red and puffy.

It looks like a set up to me. No bedding or nesting area, just plonked on wooden floor boards. It doesn't look right.

Planking Is Passé. The Stump Jump Is In!

Does standing on dining room tables, picnic tables and kitchen benches count, I'm sure I could provide a few of them -
Come on everyone, more photos!!!!!!

Yes, this is what I was trying to say, it's how I feel about these sad times.

I have been considering a purchase from DWI for a while, but I have been wondering about the customs duty, and if id have to pay it. Do they do a dodgy on the invoice with the value of the items? I've been reading some threads and some people have had bad experiences with DWI and Im now im really hesitant to buy from them. They have the 7D for $1545 currently, but I can get a non grey import one, from a local retail shop for $1898, with the canon warranty. Im probably going to go the local seller, unless DWI's price falls a fair bit more. At that price I'd probably buy it from the shop. DWI's price doesn't include shipping and you still need to buy the CF card, and as you say, no warranty with Canon. You might be able to negotiate a card with the retailer.

This is so sad, what an awful thing for you to have to decide. I feel that it's all about quality of life, not quantity. If it's only going to get worse, and it's not good now then I think if it was me I would let him go. I had to put a horse down once who had arthritis in his hip. At the time it was bad but he still had good days. I decided to let him go then though, I didn't want to wait until his life was just one constant blur of pain and misery. I chose to let him go before it got to that stage. It was hard though, and even now over 20 years later I sometimes think I could have kept him longer. Then I ask myself why would I do that to him.

Phwoar! How exciting! have you taken any pics yet. Were you terrified of the 7D beast like I was (and still am sometimes )

I wonder how much money it cost them to find this out when all they had to do was look on youtube.

I think they're both pretty good Fattima, the light in the frozen motion is pretty. For the hardest thing about getting panning shots of my dogs is getting them to run side on from me, at a time I happen to have my camera in hand and at the right shutter speed. Sometimes they go pelting past me and I think Oh, if only I had my camera with me, then when I do have it all the want to do is trot calmly along in front of me. I suppose I could go practice on cars but it's a different speed and I dont have much interest in photographing cars.

as soon as I saw the heading rare Liger cubs I thought let me guess China The only reason they are "rare" is because it's a forced mating. Lions and tigers dont mate. It's worse than designer dogs. Why dont they spend their time and effort in ensuring the continuation of tigers and lions in the wild instead of creating these gimmicks.

Fair Dinkum Whippet Racing At Tooradin
Kirislin replied to Kirislin's topic in General Dog Discussion
where are you? I'm thinking about going back next month. -
I dont consider you are hijacking it, it's all part of the discussion.
-
And I do understand where you are both coming from, and support what you say, I just didn't know what to do in my situation which seems to be a bit different from many whose long term goal is to become a professional. Ash what do you suggest in my situation? I thought Persephones suggestion was a good one, but do you have another?
-
No worries Ange, I dont mind if it goes on a tangent, these discussions come up every now and then, usually I haven't really read them much as they didn't concern me. They still dont really because I dont have a long term goal to become a professional. I have decided what I will do in my situation. :D

I'm always confused about lightroom and photoshop. There seems to be so many versions. Shipping adds quite alot onto this too. I'd be tempted but I dont have a credit card and they dont take paypal.

That's what I was wondering too. the 2nd pic is the way I cropped it first, I thought that looked best but then I went back to look again wondering how I could give the impression of a proper race, not a dog running solo, but it seems the general consensus and I think it's the right one is to go with the 2nd pic. Thanks all for your valued opinions. Thanks Persephone :D

Ange I haven't even gone as far as you, I dont watermark my photos, I dont do sessions for people, I just take my camera with me when I walk my dogs or when we have our whippet fun days, or last Sunday at the Tooradin whippet races. I am not even thinking about going professional in the future. I just happen to have a fantastic camera and lenses, because now they are accessible to the masses and sometimes I get really good shots with them. When I do I am happy to share them rather than have them sitting on my computer unseen by anyone else. I appreciate what Huga is saying, and this is my concern, I dont want to devalue (thanks Huga, I couldn't think of the word) the professionals, but I want to continue to enjoy having fun with my camera. I suppose if someone approaches me about taking photos I can just refer them on to some of the DOLers I know who now do it for a business. LindaK no one is advising me to go professional, it's just that lately I've been asked to sell some of the photos I've taken. Each time I just offered to email them copies but I kept thinking about what I've read here and on photography forums in the past about people cheapening the industry. I feel a bit bad about it. I think for me, Persephones suggestion is the one I need to follow, if someone asks for a copy of a pic, I'll put it on redbubble for them and send them the link. Thanks Persephone.

I have got a redbubble site but I only started it to make calendars for friends, then I started putting the whippet racing ones on to make calendars for our club. All the money for calendars I sell there I donate to the club.

I take photos purely for fun. I dont consider I have alot of ability or even a real eye for photography. I'm not fishing for compliments here, I know I have taken some good photos, ones I am happy with. I have no desire to do it professionally. I've read that professionals dont like people who sell photos cheaply or even give them away because it detracts from their work and probably makes people not appreciate the work and skill that they put into their photography and I understand their point. So is it wrong of me to give my photos away? I am starting to get a few people offering to buy them, particularly the ones of their own dogs, the last 2 days in a row people wanted to buy them. If I sell them it takes everything to a different level, even with regards to insurance. I dont want to go there but what am I to do? I dont want to stop taking photos and if I get a good one I love to show it to the owner, that's half the fun of it for me. I hope I dont incur the wrath of the professionals here but I am not sure what answer is.

thanks everyone. Decision made. :D

I'm no expert either, I think you are right about the rule of thirds, I just wondered if having the dog in the distance told more of the story. thanks redangel.

as the title says. I'd like more opinions please.
