I love that blurred effect, not so much in horses, I love the crystal clear sharp shots that show the action and expression of horse and rider but for cars and bikes I think it's very effective. here's examples of 2 I took on Friday. Almost exactly the same angle shot, the only difference is the shutter speed. here at 1/100th and here 1/3200th which to me looks like she is standing still and might just tip over I much prefer the first shot.

These are the shots I've tried so hard to get and it is really hard. They're coming straight at you full pelt, it's very hard for your camera and lens to keep up. Do you have a zoom lens, that would be better and yes more chance with a smaller aperture/wider depth of field and a faster shutter speed. I took these 2 with a zoom lens at 1/5000th! but both were at 2.8 I had lots of misses though, I think you just have to accept that might be the case. Makes you treasure the good shots all the more.

Pretty quick I think, not far off being airborne I suspect. I got nervous just watching. There's some gutsy girls out there. -

I'm not sure because I have privacy restrictions on my facebook although I tried to make the pics visible to friends of friends, not sure if it worked though. You can let her know of the link if you want. My friend was on the electric blue bike, you'd recognise her if you've ridden with her, initials JD. -
what a terrible shock and an awful way for Brock to go. I am so sorry and I hope you and the other dogs are all OK. I dont know where you live, if you're over my side (Yarra Valley)or within driving distance and want some company let me know.

The link is up Luke. Actually I have no complaints with the marshalls, I think they were right in restricting me for safety reasons, they were very nice to me. What's a black R1 I'm not a bike person. The girl on the black bike went with my friend. Her initials are LD is that her? Small world if so. -

thanks everyone! Yes Luke it was the girls track day. I really enjoyed myself. Wish I had a longer lens. I told the organisers I was a complete newbie with racing, never been before so they didn't allow me alot of access, understandable, that's why I told them, I needed advice on the safe places but I didn't have alot of opportunity for pics. I'm in the process of cropping and adding to flickr right now, I've decided for the first time to put copyright on them though. If anyone you know wants a copy I can transfer the pic to redbubble for them and they can get it that way. There was a professional bloke there, actually I think there were a few, they might prefer those photos. Here's the flickr slideshow so far. More to come as I get them done. -
a friend went to a track day at Broadford and I thought it would be a good chance for me to take some pics and finally have a go at panning. I had fun, took almost 600 pics but have probably deleted close to half of them and probably alot more need to go. I'll have a better look tomorrow. Anyway here's a few, I'm hoping there's better ones but I'm too tired now to look. I think bikes might be easier to photoegraph than whippets not the sharpest but I like the sunburst

Grass In Paw - Two Operations Required
Kirislin replied to jin's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
before you have to resort to another surgery I wonder if you could try bandaging it with a good old fashioned poulitce, they dont seem to be used much these days. I recently bandaged a friends whippet using a horse product, animal lintex and it drew the infection out overnight. Nala is very cute too. -
Annie I love that last photo.

I think we'd better start a collection on DOL for a bed for poor Angel who's been pushed onto the floor.

One lens I wouldn't recommend is the 17-85 efs. It never ceases to disappoint me. Heavy vignetting at 17 and the colours are sort of muddy, well they are when I use it. These have been sharpened and colour "tweaked" as best I could.
 -
Not just you, I thought the exact same thing.

hahaha like we couldn't see that coming. good to see he's made the siggy line, it's permanent.
 -
So what do Bull Terriers dig up?
 -
What breed, is he old, or fat or unsound in some way or is he fit and healthy with legs in proportion to his body and can breathe easily. If he's the latter I would think he'd probably keep up with your lab.
 -
so, is there really a breed called Bull Terrier?
 -
Yes, I understood it as digging, earth dogs, although I dont know what stafforshire bull terriers dug up.
 -
	It's been removed.

Are Our Dogs Still Able To Talk Speak Thier Language?
Kirislin replied to miss whippy's topic in General Dog Discussion
Yes I do agree, what a good question. Not sure why, perhaps in some cases taken from their mother and siblings too soon. I know some idiot owners encourage aggressive behaviour, probably lots of other reasons. I see with my own pack clear body language that avoids and sometimes invites confrontation, it's interesting to watch. Kibah often turns her head to look away from Penny, they have a history, Penny on the other hand often glares at Kibah just daring her to have a go. I dont dare let them sort it out in a fight though because I feel sure I'd be burying at least one dog. -
Anyone remember the Blossom saga? I heard about her on a US based whippet forum, there was a campaign by her owner to get her back and word travelled far and wide. That's when I joined, and I liked the idea of an Aussie forum. There used to be at least one bitch fight every day back then and I got tired of reading all the nastieness so didn't visit that often. The same people are here but they are pretty tame compared to the way they used to be.

He is so cute, I've come in here a couple of times to watch him.
