  1. congrats on the new camera, the dogs are obviously very happy there. didn't the camera come with a manual, sometimes they're not written very well for a beginner to understand but they're still a good start to get to know your camera. I used to mine to take mine to bed and read it there before I nodded off to sleep.
  2. some people never upgrade if their camera gives them what they want. I suppose I did when I was sure the camera couldn't get the shots I wanted. I first got some good lenses and when it still wasn't fast enough I upgraded. Even then it's taken me a long time to get some decent shots of the type I like. I still probably get more misses than hits, dont know if I'm just expecting too much from the camera or if I still lack the technique required. Lucky I dont have to pay for film to be developed before seeing the photos.
  3. Speak of the devil, I've just got off the phone to Pennys breedr, he wanted to thank me for all the lovely photos I've been sending him of Penny and her kids. He's such a good bloke, I love talking to him.
  4. I love to hear back from my puppy people and the only 2 litters I've bred are now 9 and 7 years old. I still keep in touch with Pennys breeder and I've had Penny for 12 years. Happily it's usually him who calls me and we talk for at least an hour.
  5. It's not hijacking the thread posting your photos. I love the middle one, especially the way you've processed it.
  6. great idea for a thread kja. I did these ages ago with just zoombrowser. all taken with my first camera, the dear little 400D I like this one, it looks old to me.
  7. what an awful situation to be in. I know this isn't the best solution but what about buying a small portable electric fence controller, you can run them with D cell batteries and set it up a few feet inside you boundary fence. Once the dogs get zapped they will keep clear of it. It doesn't seem fair punishing the dogs like this for something that probably isn't their fault but if it keeps them away from the fence it might still be worthwhile.
  8. congrats on getting a "real" camera Dont worry about photoshop, I dont use it at all. Just concentrate on learning to use your camera controls and understanding photography. You need to be able to take a good photo in the first place, no amount of photoshopping will make a bad photo good. Have fun. Horatio is gorgeous, he looks very content, I bet he was purring, cute name too.
  9. I've repeatedly said I do photography for fun, a hobby, but someone has asked for copies of photos I took at the recent girls motorbike track day. She said would it be alright if she paid me some money and I put them on a disc for her. I had previously said if there's any she wants I'll put them on redbubble. I have no idea how to much charge for such a thing and I actually dont even know how to burn the photos onto discs. I've got some discs here but I dont even know if they're the right kind. they say DVD-R Can someone who's done it all before please advise me on a fair price to charge and if I even should give her a disc. Is that what people do when they sell photos or do they give the old fashioned paper kind?
  10. although he looks nothing like a whippet something about his expression reminds me of my beloved Puck. those clever expressive brown eyes.
  11. Polar bear ......that's a new one for her Come to think of It, Imagine how hard a polar bear In the ice Is to photograph Thanks guys, I'm going to leave It as Is now but there's nothing there that's what I meant, the photo isn't showing up.
  12. looks like a polar bear in a snowstorm to me, I cant see a thing.
  13. that looks pretty sharp to me. I would expect to see those hightlights in her eyes, you might find if you cloned them out her eyes would look flat and dead.
  14. oooh all the best, I'll keep checking in here. Push girl push! I hope she's OK
  15. Is it just a pup? Hope he doesn't start doing that on the dining room table! I've got some good ones for motion after last Friday.
  16. going by your reckoning girls I am well overdue for another purchase then, I haven't bought anything since my camera in march 2010. :D
  17. awwww chookies! are they silver laced wyandottes? I had one of them, my last glimpse of her was in the jaws of a fox.
  18. I was given a bottle of that. I see people in the US buy it too, Whippet world told me that.
  19. No, it was stressed to me not to get on the outside of a turn, I was mostly on the inside or catching them as they straightened up. The distance ones of them going on the outside turn were taken from a long way off and behind a fence, too far really for my 70-200. The photos have had the most hits on my flickr account. Normally not many people look at my photos of whippets but they like these ones. Personally I'd still go for the whippets No, what I meant, is that apart from a few shots, you have had to take the pics from the outside of the circuit...ie; the viewing or spectator area. I was more refering to being able to be say, on the inside of the last turn onto the main straight. So you can get pics which show the bikes REALLY cranked over!!! Kinda like this little avatar pic...... This is the last left onto the main straight. Because the road is cambered off to the outside of the turn, it gives a a greater impression of lean angle. For those who ride, this is often an influencer in purchasing pics..... Aah I see. I think that last left hander is the only place they let me go on the track, I was up near a gum tree. I was quite restricted as to where they let me go because I told them I am a complete newbie on the track. I think they were right to restrict me for safety reasons so I have no complaints. Because this was a track day I didn't see many girls getting really low like your pic. They are pretty gutsy aren't they. I actually watched some motorbike racing last night for the first time and my heart was in my mouth, they are absolutely incredible, they have no fear.

  21. It's scrummy alright, I think I got mine not long after I met you at the zoo, I'll call you my enabler. aren't you ashamed of yourself, making me spend all that money. I'm especially loving mine after the last few outings with it. I've been having lots of run at the whippet races and now with the bikes.
  22. awww thankyou, I finally feel like I'm starting to get some decent shots. It's taken me a while though.
  23. OMG how cute is Barkly with the leaves in those last 2 pics. creamy is good. mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm here's some from when I first got the 70-200
