  1. I have a whippet here who will kill them too, and I'm pretty sure he will attack a snake if one comes in. Lucky for him the only one I know that he's attacked so far was a copperhead which is not an aggressive snake. I love the blue tongues and hate to think of my dogs killing them. I saw a video where dogs are trained by conditioning with an electric collar to fear snakes. I'm sure it could be applied to any scaly animal.
  2. I rang Elite and they asked where I lived and then told me the nearest retailer.
  3. yeah you're right. sorry, I'd seen mention of it here and was like you, didn't really know what it was for. I'm feeding it for it's supposed inflammation reducing effects but it's supposed to help reduce tumours too. I'm on a facebook page and some people seem to think it has all sorts of healing abilities. I will wait and see. Here's a link for more information. http://www.turmericlife.com.au/turmeric-for-dogs/how-to-feed-turmeric-for-dogs/
  4. I would imagine it's OK long term otherwise millions, perhaps billions of people who use it in their cooking would be affected.
  5. this is the company that distributes it but they wont sell it retail. They gave me the name of a business in my town who they sell to and I have to order it from them. http://www.elitepet.com.au/home/index.php?route=product/product&path=3_52_137&product_id=1563
  6. wow, so many beautiful dogs needing homes. Good luck with it. I saw 2 dogs I know there.
  7. I tend to think of Neko in red, but I really think she looks great in any colour.
  8. that's so cute. We will want to see photos Yonjuro
  9. I'll be interested to see if my dogs start stinking, I hope not. I wonder if it affects humans too, cause I've started taking it. I suppose I'll get the hint sooner or later.
  10. Yep, I guessed it was something like that. I think they need a safer system, an uncrating room.
  11. I see the Ceylon cinnamon to stop the pee smell. what do they mean pee smell. Does it smell like pee or does it make your pee smell worse?
  12. I've decided to give it to everyone here, including me! I've already had my dose this morning. I think I can get used to it. The boys like it. Neko thinks I'm trying to poison her and not sure what Feather thinks. I just put it on my finger and rubbed it on the roof of her mouth
  13. New owner opened the crate door when he arrived in Canberra. He ran. I dont know what the facilities are for collecting dogs but common sense tells me crates need to be opened in a secure room. Or car. New owner probably wanted to toilet the dog. Who knows? Probably. I've never picked a dog up from the airport so I dont know what the set up is, but I hear quite a bit about dogs escaping from them. There was a really sad one years ago of a whippet in the US. I dont think they ever got her back. I think the crates need to be opened in a secure room to give the person picking the dog up a safe place to put a collar and lead on.

  15. I hope it doesn't spoil it if I use already ground black pepper. I bought it before I knew it was supposed to be freshly ground. I got all my ingredients from Oasis bakery, it's a Middle Eastern shop on North rd. I dont know about the pee smell yet, too soon.
  16. I've just made my first batch of this. I've seen some varying recipes, some with 1/5th cup of tumeric, others with 1/2 cup. I've gone with the 1/2 cup recipe. I will start feeding it tonight. So far so good, the boys licked the cooking utensils clean for me. :D I've got 3 aged dogs here and me riddled with arthritis so thought I'd give it a go. Feel free to add your success stories or any helpful information to this thread.
  17. Are they any good for border collies...I usually use a rake they're called a rake so I assume they'd be similar. The teeth are fairly short on them so they wouldn't tangle or pull too much in a long coat I think. That's my opinion only, I might be wrong.
  18. That would have been one smelly and unpleasant job to fill (and empty) the road kill bucket
  19. thanks, yep that's the one. I've actually found a wholesaler who distributes to a local store so I'll be ordering one soon. They are fabulous for getting old coats out of dogs like GSDs It's that double coat that it is perfect for.
  20. I dont cope with the heat very well either now and poor little Feather, it doesn't even have to be hot for her to be wobbly, sort of fainty, just the sun shining on her seems to bring it on. The other day it was a sunny 14c and she got the wobbles in the sun. I picked her up and carried her to the shade and lay her down on the cool grass and she immediately recovered. We all try to avoid anything over 30, I'd prefer it to only be about 25c max these days. Maybe I should move to Tassie.
  21. perhaps they do, but I'd have to buy both of them so easier to just buy the product that was designed for it.
  22. I would LOVE that!! I will pay you for it. Let me know how much. Stop Press!! Thankyou for your kind offer but I've found them new and a local shop can get them in for me. They're exactly like mine, haven't changed at all in 50 years. http://www.elitepet.com.au/home/index.php?route=product/product&path=3_52_137&product_id=1563
