I know a whippet called Vlad. I got a funny sequence of him running by his mums kids at the beach and he accidentally knocked one of them over. The next photo the little kid stood up in tears and I called him Vlad the Destroyer. The boy was fine folks in case anyone's worrying. It took me ages to come up with a name for Neko, until I took this photo. Maneki Neko, my little Lucky Cat by kirislin, on Flickr them I named her after these, well, just the cat bit.

that's great, I hope it works. I liked seeing the photos too.

I agree with this. Sometimes pets pretty much name themselves. I took about 7 months to name my colt. I was getting worried because I couldn't come up with a name that fitted him. I'd tried lots on and they just didn't stick, then one afternoon he was hooning around the paddock yelling his head off, with is tail up over his back, pelting around until he turned and came at a flat gallop towards me. My heart was in my mouth worrying that he couldn't stop in time and then he just sat on his haunches and came to a sliding stop, all huffy and puffy and I said "ooh you're a rowdy boy aren't you" and suddenly I thought Rowdy!! That's his name! And it suited him perfectly.

OH MY GOD, CC! Okay I have been trying to remember this kids' show for YEARS and nobody I described it to ever remembered it and googling was no help. I can't believe I know what it's called now! Off to watch on youtube and relive a part of my childhood. Thanks! never heard of it before so went to youtube. I swear that's Prince Charles narrating it!!!!

Dogs are imported to add to the gene pool usually. I'm importing frozen semen for the same reason I agree, I was a bit surprised that someone would be confused as to why a person would import a dog. There much more common breeds than Afghans still being imported for the same reason.

OK, so I'm having a smug little brag now. I had Mittens and Woody and their Mum stay overnight last weekend. Mittens is settling in well by all accounts and I hear has already left her mark.....on a few things around the house. Another friend came for the day so we had 10 dogs here for a while. Here she is having her first introduction to a show slip. IMG_2290_1 by kirislin, on Flickr 9 other dogs running loose at the time. Woody thought a brace would be a good idea IMG_2293_1 by kirislin, on Flickr then it was all, "what about ME, Look at ME" IMG_2295_1 by kirislin, on Flickr Dont look at her, look at my magnificent ears!! Where Do You Buy Your Collars?
Kirislin replied to Pretty Miss Emma's topic in General Dog Discussion
what breed is your foster that it needs a limited slip? -
well done Jolie, they're beautiful.

Happy Birthday little fella, enjoy that cheese.
-
they look like big puppies from the photo, compared to Jolie. What do they weigh?
-
Once they're all out, I always find it amazing that just a couple of hours before they were somehow all squashed inside her. You must be thrilled Kirty.
-
she needs some pearls and a little pill box hat.

I love getting (and giving) presents for no particular reason, and this week I've been lucky enough to get one such present for me, and today, one for my darling little old whippet Feather. A friend made her this pretty coat Made with Love by kirislin, on Flickr then earlier in the week a friend gave me this gorgeous scarf out of the blue, I've worn it every day since. 5F6A1549_1 by kirislin, on Flickr

I didn't know they came in this colour. He is very handsome and looks full of naughtiness

You dont know me IRL but my whippet Kibah had hers by caesar during the day and Penny, mother of Tag and Puck had her puppies during the day. Started sometime around 11.30am I think and finished while the footy Grand Final was on. Also Widget, Nekos mum had her babies during the day. I agree most seem to be born at night, but not those ones.

can you get anyone to check in on them. Marcus had a whole roster of people for weeks, it was probably overkill but I didn't mind at the time.
-
anyone want to place bets? I'm going for Sat night/Sun morning. Winner gets a free puppy!
