Every time hard rubbish comes around I'm amazed, and kinda saddened at what people just throw away. There will be no such thing as antiques from this current day and age because they're either not made to last or just aren't kept anyway because people want something newer. Often I cannot help myself, and today was one of those days. I picked up this little set of drawers, hand made I suspect by a hobby carpenter perhaps. It was once a labour of love. 5F6A7448dpp by kirislin, on Flickr Look at the dove tails. 5F6A7449dpp by kirislin, on Flickr I've got a pretty new water bowl for any thirsty animals passing by or birds with a death wish. 5F6A7435dppt by kirislin, on Flickr I got a really deep wheel barrow and the bowl is undamaged, just a bit of dirt on it. 5F6A7436dppt by kirislin, on Flickr an old box that looks alot better since I've cleaned it up. I might try selling it on ebay. 5F6A7437dppt by kirislin, on Flickr

that's good news then. Royal Park is a long way from where he lives. It seems like he was caught in Williamstown area so he traveled a long way back and forth.
-
could this be the same whippet? If so he's been found! Where's Cuba? I'm not certain it's the same dog though, this one is around Williamstown.
-
It wont hurt to give it a go. I dont hold out much hope but I've got nothing to lose. Thanks!

Not long before Christmas I went out with Neko and foolishly left the kitchen door open so my whippets had access. I didn't think there was anything edible on the counter tops to tempt them. You'd think after 10 years I would know not to underestimate Tag and Puck. I came home to find Puck had grabbed the 2 litre cask of olive oil, torn it open, drank quite a bit and spilt the rest on the carpet. I took this photo at the time. IMG_0771dppt by kirislin, on Flickr anyway, since then I've tried to clean it, knowing it would probably be futile. I tried soaking it up with kitty litter with weights pressing it down, I tried shampooing it and the stain just grew and grew. Yesterday some friends came and helped me rip up the carpet. I'd hoped it hadn't gone completely through the underfelt as well, but of course it has. We hit it with liquid magnet, sugar soap, CLR as well as good old hot water. It seems all we've done is ensure it remains forever. I cannot afford carpet so here is the room now. Pucky's stain lives on. Just showing it in the context of the room 5F6A7407dppt by kirislin, on Flickr and here's a close up of his handywork. Tag used to want to sleep on my bed in the middle of the night. No amount of stern voice, telling him to go away worked until finally I did my best impersonation of a growling dog. It worked.
-
Good job, at least they know there's been a sighting.
-
It will be a whippet not an IG. I'll check the facebook whippet pages I'm on.

Well done. You must be pretty thrilled with that. The model is great, she knows how to switch on for the camera doesn't she.

Well, actually, they do, that's why there's so many of them. -
the photos of her closing her eyes and sniffing the air, or is she just enjoying the sun on her face are very cute too. Does she do that alot? It makes for great photos.
-
thanks T I have to say she's a bit easier to live with now, she maturing, just gone through her 2nd season and no longer has attacks of the daily crazies that she used to have where she'd start digging on my leather sofa and ricocheting off them, zooming around the lounge room like it was a cycling velodrome. Although it's easier and less stressful, part of me misses that side of her though too.
-
No CC from me, I found my self smiling while I looked at her. Neko would love a play date but she's a bit far away. I do especially love the one of her on that wooden walkway, 4th pic down. You've also captured some great examples of the double suspension gallop, or in her case frolic  that someone, was it you? started a thread about the other day.

I've seen rabbits attack too, and not just in Monty Python, I mean for real, they're scary! -
Here's the thread I started a few weeks ago. It might have some answers for you too. http://www.dolforums.com.au/topic/261135-what-is-the-purpose-of-a-breed-club/page__p__6625184__fromsearch__1#entry6625184

I posted something similar a few weeks ago. I used to be a member of a breed club but I left because the committee on that particular club were horrible. They seemed to go out of their way to be rude to people they considered of no value to them. I believe it's all pretty much the same ones still on the committee there, most of them have been on for 20 or more years and consider it their club. So that's my reason for NOT being a member of a particular club.

It's been over 15 years since I've had a dog I could take walking off leash somewhere other than an off leash park. All the current whippets I've got would take off. It was so lovely this evening when I went down to talk to my mare I decided to take Neko. She was very excited and alert, as you can see here, but she didn't take off into the wild blue yonder, and she absolutely loved it, so I think we'll do it more often. What a pleasure it was!! :D Look at her, senses all tingling with anticipation. IMG_1134dpp stamp by kirislin, on Flickr My little explorer IMG_1140dppt by kirislin, on Flickr

I know. A friend went there and told me about what she saw. It's really upset her too. I keep thinking about those poor dogs, just existing.................... like prisoners.
-
I've heard some awful stories about so called reputable breeders who keep their show dogs confined in small cages in a darkened garage with no toys, or sounds, just dark and silence, and that's where they stay unless they're required to be shown or bred from. There's some dogs in miserable conditions but because they're fed and sheltered and their kennels are clean, there's not a damn thing to be done about it.

This surprises me. Can you provide the evidence please. I am interested to see it. http://www.ncis.org.au/wp-content/uploads/2011/12/FACT-SHEET-Animal-related-deaths-final.pdf You've been a bit unfair to poor little shetland ponies, giving them all the blame. -
Tui Dixon is up that way, you could see if she's sold any pups to people in Cairns. I also advise you to join the facebook page I suggested in my previous post. good luck, oh and how about posting some photos, we LURV photos!!!
