  1. Wow-interesting. I believe that in the big scheme of things this photo surfaced at this time to give you peace...not guilt. Keep it in loving memory that one day you will see her again over the bridge.
  2. I do not consider myself a talented photographer, thus I do it for free. Trouble is I have now got a handful of people who want me to take pictures...but only if they can pay me. What to do? I just love giving people joy of a "nice' keepsake picture of their pet/ child. I was going to charge per print & travel...maybe call it a sitting fee. Does 30.00 sound alot??? Its hard to charge for something you love doing for free.
  3. For one who has seen but never used a prong collar when I had dobes- are they not just like spurs for dogs not unlike those riders used to use????? Of course they are not pain free.....dogs do not behave because of how they look! In skilled trained hands they may be an effective tool where all other methods have been used and it is a last choice move, I shudder to think there is no licence of use and that the 'average joe' can purchase these freely IMO.
  4. My aunt lived in the blue mountains...lots of nasty bities there, I once got badly bitten by sandflies there. Hope your girl settles onight and all is ok at the vet tm
  5. If my girls come into season together (as usually happens) we get congo lines. My lil Miss 10 says 'Mummy the dogs are playing trains again!!!!!!!! It only happens then, Initially my younger dog went through a time of trying to hump other dog- it sorted iteself out once her place in the pack was established.
  6. Happy Birthday- dont samoyeds have just the most awesome smile!
  7. If you cant get a return.....your only resort is upgrade. How disappointing for you....been there done that with buying software.
  8. Went and visited a friend this week, wanted to practice taking pics of other dogs (not poodles) Their bunch is a real mixture of personalities. My fav was the pug x chi...I nickname her 'Bug"...she has such big eyes on a little head! was only there for about half an hour, hopefully my friend will have some keepsake piccys to treasure now. the "Bug" ..fav pic
  9. You know what they say about sarcasm....sorry but I read this thread for 2 days and I generally think that it was a dead thread from the beginning. In a forum where people are heartfelt about treating animals correctly a flippant statement as "lame still but as I paid a heap of money for the clinic..." how can anyone not see how this would enflame things? If the OP has issue with what someone has said or inferred- address it directly by all means but not with nonsense comments that only bring the thread to a even lower point again. Im happy that in all this the dog is recovered- which is really what this thread was all about. I hope in future dog & pony are kept apart to reduce chances of a reoccurance.
  10. Awwwwwwwwww run faster lil brindle pup...my arms are open wide............... cute capture anniek. Kirslin..the color is "red"...Luci in the background is a red /apricot (faded) I always had blacks/silver/blue/white poodles- I decided this time to try another color. Hint: red poodles like ferraris are VERY fast. They just like to sleep, then spend the rest of the day at their other speed- total zoomies-flat out., then back to the couch.
  11. P is for please...finish cooking my dinner F is for fruitbowl.. I is for...I think its still on...
  12. Well thats three as they say! My filters are on all the time, from time of purchase. Having had the mishap...Im sticking to em! My first incident was when I first got the camera and my Luci decided to headbutt the new 200mm lens.
  13. Just popped in to say hello Jed. Thinking of you and wishing you a smooth recovery. I am heartened to hear you are dong well. Never mind about the crewcut- hair is so overrated! Hoping you get an opportunit to see your kids soon.
  14. There is nothing that describes the anguish you feel when you remove the lenscap and see a shattered filter is there? Been there now, never want to revisit that feeling.... Trust us when we say 'Dont try that at home" ;)
  15. Best tip ever: get your light OFF your camera. Start with the cheapie ebay triggers even(I still have mine and they still work perfectly) - I think they are under Cactus triggers. Say what?????? Doesnt the nikon speedlite auto sync with camera off camera???
  16. Never too many! That first shot is just priceless.
  17. I love using my speedlite. I am just learning of its application outdoors. If you have a speedlite- how often do you use it, what situations is it best for/ not required?
  18. The ol girl (15) is crated, whilst the other 2 (2+1) are on my bed. Sleep well all night but if I change position at 5am they want walks. Lucky for me I have trained my noturnal teenager to let them out before he goes to bed so they now sleep longer.
  19. No doubt she will await the day you see her again as well....condolances
  20. Been a bit busy of late but snapped this one of my girlies play fighting (aka mouth warz) T is for tonsils....If Lucis got em- Rosie could tell you what they look like!
  21. Agreed this does get confusing with nikon.....I too purchased a 50mm 1,4 that was not af. Lucky I have a d90 and it has in built motor. How disappointing for you. Hope you get what you want.
  22. Slightly OT but how does a fungus affected lens affect pictures? ie what does the result look like? I am hesitant to go into humid areas with my camera (like butterfly house) for fear of this problem?
