  1. I would like to donate for Group 2 please both days. Let me know how much and when you need it by.
  2. Ahhh. And WAY TO GO SASSY!!!!! Not that I would expect anything less from her
  3. I wondered where you got to, MM!! you were there... Then you weren't lol. Baby was the Border Terrier Minor was it a Gordon? Inter was the Border Collie Bis was Open and RUBIS was Aus Bred My dogs failed dismally. Again. Getting used to this
  4. I have no issue with tipping the dog off the table (although I prefer to drop the back legs - have never done the front but know people who do) but the fact that it was the judge doing it and also the rest of her actions ......... As for the dog not returning to the judge afterthe up and back- my puppy does exactly te same thing(although gaining in confidence now) however has never been abused in the ring. (just motioning this in case non show people are watching a show and it happens- it may just be a phase, not abuse- likewise tipping off the table). I am always wary of Spanish judges, to be quite honest. I have found through personal experience that they tend to be very heavy handed with the dogs.
  5. I usually only have Ziva on the bed - Caber cannot be trusted not to mark overnight and he doesn't like his belly band so is crated, which he loves BTW. And Casey has been crated as she is still a puppy. However I had her on the bed a few weeks ago when I had a nap. She was very good so last night I let her sleep the whole night on the bed she picked a pillow for herself and was quite happy. Once she saw I was awake though, she pounced on my eyes. So no more on the bed until she is a bit calmer LOL. Ziva is dangerous on the bed- she licks as soon as you wake up and it's not nice. However she is spoiled and will not sleep in the crate all night :embarrass: She moves off the bed etc without a problem but in the crate she carries on at 3am without fail.
  6. I sold a Border pup to a family who was pretty much as you described (mum & dad both had dogs growing up but this was their first of their 'own', they also had a 6 yr old son) and so far, it's a perfect match They did puppy school, found a good vet, listened to my recommendations etc. As long as you understand that a Border is very smart and well behave but not always obedient... They are pretty much suitable for someone of any experience level IMO. Easy enough for a first timer (especially one with a chilled temperament) but also challenging enough if you want to do more with them.

  8. You have no idea why any dog is muzzled unless you are told- the dog may be on a strict diet, it may be a serial ball theif (I had a friend who muzzle their Lab in the park for this reason), it may be a stick chewer, or yes it nay be aggressive. What I'm more concerned about is whether or not a dog is under effective control, muzzle or no.
  9. I'm thinking of heading up Boxing Day too, but if I can't I'll let you know. Thanks! No probs. I'm looking forward to it as I missed out last year good girl Ziva for waiting to come in season this time LOL. We camped in a different spot than we did last time you camped. Over the other side there is a big power outlet thing. I'll try and get there early enough so I can have power, I love camping but power makes it soooo much better Ooh okay! I want power too lmao. Where abouts on the other side? We have an outdoor power cable. As you drive in, go left. It's under the first lot of big trees wher people usually park. Nice and quiet there too and close toilets Ah I think I know it! Awesome. Getting kinda excited now

  12. Well as we are both going we decided we needed a new tent to accommodate everyone lol but didn't want to spend the money if we weren't able to use it! Now to remember that I have 2 cheques to be taken out at $90 each oh well. It's still a pretty cheap holiday BB yeah, hopefully the weather will be better in December! Will try to find somewhere higher up... Hey Weis, we are heading up Boxing Day- did you want us to snag a spot for you?
  13. Please let the neighbors know nicely. As for no toys- the dog may not care for them or may be a destroyer so it's not safe to leave them. It took my male about a month to really settle in here- until then he would yap at everything. I kept him inside during the day but when I was home he'd run around like a nut.
  14. Mum just got off the phone to the secretary and camping is fine!! First in, best dressed. There *may* be a $10 charge per night but that isn't confirmed yet. Woo hoo. Tent shopping next week LOL.
  15. The sticker is way too big for the form? Which why I wrote mine on and it didnt get put on the ped cert. Eta...you have already mentioned this Kerry. Same ;) I waited until my pups were 7 weeks old and this microchipped before I registered them, paid the 24 hr fee (which was actually worth it- posted the form off Sunday afternoon and had the papers back on Tuesday), but because I didn't know you couldn't write the chip number on the form... It was a whole lot of rushing for nothing (could have just done what I was gonna and register before chipping). All you need to do is stick one of the labels on the form. I didn't know that at the time I thought it would be fine to hand-write the numbers as the stickers didn't fit.
  16. You would do it if you had a yard full of dogs which were not selling.Do you lower the price of all of them to equal the ones that dont sell as quickly and sell the others faster and still be left with the ones people dont like as much? Makes no sense to me. Not sure what you're saying here??? I should have amended my first paragraph to say 'I don't personally agree with chargning separate prices for littermates based in color provided the colors met the standard'. I am fortunate in my breed as all the standard colors are equally popular- there are people who don't care, there are people who will only have blue and there are those who only want a grizzle. Reds are relatively uncommon and I've not yet had an inquiry specifically for one. Wheatens are extinct apparently or incredibly rare. I would perhaps sell a black and tan Border for $800 and sell it's grizzle or blue or red littermates for $1000 AS AN EXAMPLE.

  18. I would pay more than average for a quality blue & Tan Border terrier but that's only because I desperately want one! I would not purchase one at a higher price than it's littermates but what I mean is I would be prepared to pay more for a good blue as they are harder to find than grizzles, so my 'budget' would be larger. It would also benefit my breeding program to have a quality blue with correct tan. But I do not believe in different prices in the one litter based on color. I know of cases where breeders have sold pups of an unpopular or non-standard colors for less. I can understand this but not sure if I'd do it. But I guess if you have a black & tan Border or a white GSD for example, they are not to standard so ARE they worth as much?? They do take just as much care and expense to rear and of course are just as good as pets or companions but I dunno..... Fingers crossed I'll never have that issue
  19. I don't have brachy dogs but my Borders have a muzzle that's 1/3 the length of the skull. Is that suitable or do you want specifically Brachy dogs?
  20. yep, new laws to give them powers where it comes to local plannig, where previously it was the domain of council they'll be able to walk and and shut down every breeder that has a litter on their loungeroom floor Spikes, nothing has changed but it's always been policy of the RSPCA to seize first and ask questions later when it suits them. Yep, knew that was just wondering if I had missed something!!! Ta.
  21. Since when is it illegal to have a debarked or docked dog in the house? I thought it was only illegal to have the animal docked or debarked illegally and/or exhibit a dog that has been docked or debarked illegally. I only read the damn legislation last week!! Have they changed it again already?? ETA sorry, didnt mean to sound narky, just concerned I've missed something else
  22. I have occasionally used mine for other things in emergencies but mostly I just keep a few in my handbag, along with assorted collars, leads, a harness, bits of kibble??? :D no wonder I can't fit any of MY stuff in it
  23. Should rename this thread 'free Eukanuba for rat owners' :D Mine got a mix of grain and seed, dry dog and kitten food, dried fruit, cereal, assorted legumes, dry pasta, rat cubes and pretty much anything else I could find I was going to pick up my Euk today from the pet shop near work but I left my voucher at home. Oops.
  24. My understanding is that the dogs should be able to stand up straight in a crate, not just be hunched down to fit in there. I too have seen the "worse" but that doesn't help the dogs and doesn't help people to learn how to do things better. Rescue places have to do the right thing for the dogs, just like the rest of us. If the dog cannot stand up straight in that crate, then a taller crate is needed, or the dog gets harnessed into the vehicle. That is what is required by law and it is better for the dogs. Souff The dog just looks upset to me, and has her head lowered because of it, there is space for her to sit up taller. I don't think there are strict rules for car travel as long as the dog is restrained and within reason, but it's airline travel which has the strict requirements. I'll double check the legislation if I get time today. I'd rather see a dog in a good crate slightly too small than in a harness of cheap quality or one that is ill-fitting. But will check the legal requirements
