  1. Exactly what I was going to say. My old ACD girl was blind and if I let her lead go she would be off! Obviously her other senses were enough for her to cope really well That reminded me of her visits to the vet in her later years. She would sit facing the food stand in the corner
  2. Because you will be closer to the bush there will be more ticks. Their natural host is the bandicoot but they are also found on echidnas, possums and wallabies which, of course, you will be a lot closer to. They are more prevalent after rain as they thrive in the humid conditions. A friend of mine used the tick prevention collar with good results but also did the daily checking.
  3. Cats like the smell of bleach so it will attract them back so best not to use it. Urine Off is great and so was Bio Zet but I believe it has changed its formula so not so good any more.
  4. I found this site the cheapest, delivery was cheaper than quoted and fast! http://www.kennelsolutions.com.au/f10_disi...tant_f10sc.html
  5. Perhaps it is time to remind everyone of the forum rules and reporting procedure. Here's the link for those that need it: http://www.dolforums.com.au/forumrules.html
  6. As he is only small you could use a pill popper very easily. Ask your vet about them too. They are fantastic for cats that suddenly have the strength of Mr Hulk and 16 legs so should be fine for a small dog!
  7. All mine eat anything. If I need to give them a tablet I drop it on the floor as I walk past and they gobble it up thinking it is something I was eating I think
  8. He is gorgeous and I look forward to seeing many photos of him
  9. I remember now - thanks Trish for prompting my ailing memory. Her sister was putting goose eggs under the chickens
  10. Imy posted the story as a practical joke on her sister I think. And it was hilarious.
  11. I'v been a member since 2004 and lurked for a couple of months before hand I think. :D
  12. :D I thought I had hearsd and seen it all but obviously not! Sadly it is the humans that tend to disappoint us the most.
  13. I joined DOL when I was searching for rescue web sites and came across the forums here. I have learnt a heap of information about dogs which has, hopefully, made me a better pet owner.
  14. Was that post for me? If so the collar was a freebie so no replacement expected.
  15. I got an almost immediate reply from Houndbags and it was explained that the huge collar doesn't fit my bag and it is a promotion item from the expos. I am happy with that as I did wonder why I received it when it wasn't in the product description. So does anyone want a huge reflective collar?
  16. I am having a different problem! I thought it was odd that I was sent a horse sized collar and then wondered if it would clip on to the handle but it doesn't. I have a standard bag and the prongs clip on the collar are too big to fit into the clips on the lead. Off to email Houndbags to see if it can be rectified.

    Rocco

A beautiful tribute for a very special dog. Hugs to you Rocco1 and please look after yourself.
  18. RIP Rocco, you are a DOL legend and will always be remembered in the hearts of many.
  19. Just joined and there are 228 members.
  20. Looks like he is having a great time!
  21. Pop on your rubber gloves Cynthia and go over your furniture with your hands - works really well to get rid of hair.
  22. Me as well. It is also highly toxic to cats in small doses.
  23. When I first started breeding cats a friend lost most of a litter of kittens when they first started running around which is highly unusual. After lots of investigation, the vet discovered that the pine wood used in their enclosure had some of the chemical used to treat pine on it. They could only surmise that somewhere the untreated wood had lent against some treated pine. They used a sealer to seal the plywood and didn't have any more problems, thankfully. I have been following this thread since Christmas Day and hope you find the cause and Grover is back to himself very soon.
  24. My Cav is known for a few of her speshal behaviours and one of them is to run right through the middle any clump of prickles or burs and get most of them caught in her ear fur. I have found a Mars Coat King great for getting through the resulting mess of tangled hair and stuck prickles without taking away all the coat.
