  1. Yeah, this is what I would do too :) I introduced Em to the mirror and she ran into into the mirror and nearly knocked herself out. She was 10 weeks old. Charlie approached it slowly and started to paw the mirror and he got bored and walked away. Skeeter hasn't shown any interested in the mirror.. we have mirror at the end of the hallway and it's like be is very oblivious to it
  2. She sounds like my Charlie. He doesn't make an appearance till after 10am, and if we make him get out of bed before 10am, he will give you a dirty look and walk to his day bed and go back to sleep. If you try to wake him up there, he will turn his back at you and give a huge sigh as though you're annoying him and to go away. I understand how difficult it is to try to wake up a dog who doesn't want to wake up..
  3. that was very nice of Jasper to put the shoes out for your husband :) tlc.. cutest photos! your baby looks so happy with a sock in his mouth! fake limping..
  4. Skeeter, my Samoyed puppy, is my baby. I loved him even before he got him. I've waited a long time for him and now that he is here, he is everything I've ever want/dreamed for.. and then some!! Here is one of the "then some" story (and I have plenty of them)... Skeeter has this weird quirk that he likes getting my LEFT shoe and run around the house with it and then hides it (he often forget where he hides stuff too). So far, the boy hasn't been a chewer, he just likes carrying things in his mouth and hides it. So this morning, I worked out what I was going to wear to work, it was all planned out. Black pant, white top and black flats. Simple. Easy. Walked into my clothes room and noticed my LEFT black flats is missing. Everything was in a neat order and there was a gap missing where the flat was suppose to be!!! I knew it was Skeeter who did it, who else will take my shoes? Charlie has never taken shoes in his life and Emmy, well, she likes thongs and shoelaces (thankfully has grown out of that phase). And if Emmy did take it, she is the worst hider in the world and if you tell her to get something, she often does. Anyway, I spend 45 minutes looking for my left black flats, I eventually had to give up and now wearing my grey flat that doesn't go with my outfit. So, today, whenever I look down at my grey flats, I'm shaking my head with a sigh and then start giggling thinking that people have warned me that you have to have a sense of humor to own a Samoyed... I now understand :D I wonder how long it will take me tonight to find my shoe? Do you guys have a "then some" stories?
  5. I have a JS and she's not barker. Only make noise when there is a need for it. She loves being her with people. She gets walked twice a day and she gets to go the park and free run. Hands down the most sweetest dog I've ever own (we just don't talk about her puppyhood, i block bad memories out of mind :p ) But saying that, I feel that JS aren't the perfect apartment dogs because most of the JS I know, they love being outside in their yard too much. They are very busy and active little dogs, who are always up to something. They all love to run around like nutters. But, I will suggest: Havanese Cavaliers Tibetan Spaniels
  6. My 4 months old Samoyed puppy jumped off things without fear either... off his show trolley, grooming tables but thankfully I've been able to catch him in time. Skeeter can't figure he can't jump on the bed or couch yet, thank god, so until he does then he isn't allow on the couch or bed. Hopefully by the time he can figure it out, he will be big enough that he doesn't need to jump.
  7. Sounds like your pup just hit teenage phase.. let the fun begin :p I don't think its separation anxiety, I think it's just to boredom. How much outside time she gets? Do you do a lot of training with her? Tired dog is a good dog. If not a Kong, have you considered getting a Bob A Lot? Bob A Lot I feed my pup his breakfast or lunch with this. He is hungry at meal time, he will do anything for his food. This will keep him amused for a while.
  8. My 3 are called the Sibs (short for siblings)... Emmy is the diffuser in my pack. We call her the peacemaker. Charlie just makes an unhappy sound and Emmy is between Charlie and the other dog, and she either bumps the other dog away or turns to Charlie and starts licking his face.
  9. Both are real cuties :D Puppies don't usually have control of their bladder till they are 6 months old, so toilet training is consistency and patience :D Good luck
  10. Cheese, Spam, roast chicken, maccas chicken nuggets (gotta peel the batter off) Skeeter gets bored of food easily, so I have to mix it up a lot.
  11. Thankfully my pup (4 month old) sleeps to about 6am now, but before wake up call from him was 4.30am. It's going to the toilet, giving him something to eat and then it's back to bed. No play or interaction with him. We don't usually hear anything from him till the alarm goes off but for the pass 2 weeks, he has been sleeping in to 6am. He has learn there is no use bothering the other 2 dogs to play at 4.30am. Charlie isn't a morning person and you don't usually see him out of bed before 10am, and Emmy goes and bury herself under Mr W and ignores him.
  12. Sardines.. yeah, I give it to the dog whole and yes it really grosses me out too that they love it. So happy to hear that she is doing well.
  13. Depend on what the blood is getting tested for.. Sometimes you get the results in 48 hours, but I once had to wait 2 weeks for one of Charlie's result Pathologist has certain days to test stuff, so one day they do blood test looking for certain things... also sometimes they have to use different machine etc. waiting sucks
  14. 1) What was the reason why you stopped training your dog? Charlie - he can no longer do most physical thing. Emmy - run out of things to train her, but we are working on proofing her and getting her to work in unfamiliar surroundings Skeeter - just started. he is still a puppy 2) Do you feel your dog is well trained enough? Charlie - Yes Emmy - She knows her stuff but we are working on proofing Skeeter - hell no 3) Did you not get results from previous training attempts? Charlie - Yes Emmy - She fails miserably at dog clubs. i've taken her to a few and she gets so weary.. she is a working progress. Skeeter - first day at OB and he was knows as the Naughtiest puppy 4) Is training too far away/ too often/ too expensive? Not exactly far from home, but traveling in Sydney through peak traffic to training is very time consuming. If I work late, I will miss OB and that's usually the case. Training is usually on the weekdays where I'm most busiest. If they had it later then it will be easier for me to go to training more frequently. On weekends, Skeeter is at shows and I can't make OB on weekends. 5) Are you simply too busy? That's the story of life at the moment. 6) Did you find training boring? No. Charlie and Skeeter does though. Emmy loves training (at home) 7) What would prompt you to start training again or would you not start training again regardless? If I find a good club that has classes on the day I'm free that's not far from home... We do training at home every day though.
  15. Charlie is 3 years old but he has an old soul, and people think he is a lot more older than he is. But he is really like a Grumpy Old Man... he grumbles and moves very very slowly, so i can't blame them for them thinking that. I think that! I call him 'Old Man'
  16. I wouldn't take it to heart... I was sensitive at first when people made comments, but then now I just shrug it off. people will always makes comment on stuff, if it's not the age, it will be something else. People have said a lot worst when I take Charlie for a walk.
  17. BYBers trying to make a quick buck, and unfortunately there are some sucker out there that will believe it. It's really really annoying to see ads like that. There is so such thing :)
  18. Not all dogs can. Charlie can swim but he gets tired and then stop swimming.. even though he is in the middle of the fricking lake. We have a life jacket on him and I still have to go out and pull him into shore. He kills me that dog.
  19. Yes, I see them all the time :)
