  1. The newcomer would've been on a one way trip to the vet if he did nasty damage to my existing dog the first fight. Wouldn't have given him a chance to do it again... I'm sure you'll make the right decision for your situation.
  2. Took my boy 9 months to be completely reliable... his sibs all took different amounts of time. It all just depends. He slept through the night by 10 weeks, but we had a lot of inside issues for a loooong time.
  3. Pretty much anything we eat except tomatoes and lettuce. Weirdo dog was at a bbq on the weekend with us and my brother who doesn't eat olives had some on his plate. He fed them to the dog happily
  4. I think at 5, it's highly unlikely he'll have accidents in their house. If they're dog savvy they'll know when he needs to go out even if he can't use their dog door. Just make sure they know his usual routine :)
  5. Thanks. Just thanks. Did you really have to put that song in my head. I think i'll go find the card my aunt bought with the song in it and play it now .
  6. How is it any different to crating the dog for 12hrs overnight? The dog doesn't know the difference, just knows it needs to pee when you get home  Ours are outside during the day, at night one is crated and the other had run of the house (until he broke the curtains) so now he's down the back in the 'dog room'
  7. Burg, Burger, Bugs, Burgermonster, Monster, Bundle, and many many more. Apparently he has too many nicknames We tested the theory and he doesn't answer to "Anything" or "idiot" even when called in a happy voice  Ian
  8. I'd ditch the partner  The second time I saw my OH, i went to his house to watch movies. His dog greeted me at the door and quite literally threw himself at me.. He covered me in licks and was completely thrilled. OH was standing behind him like this I asked him what the problem was, and he said that the dog didn't like strange females just showing up at the house, even when he was home. Said dog spent the rest of the day either on my lap licking me to death, or curled up on the couch behind me. He told me that night that he decided I must be ok cos Diesel liked me  The love affair between Diesel and I still continues three years on, although he's not quite as enthusiastic all the time.
  9. Oh wow Gayle, I know where I'm going when I go visit Mum next.. Stunning!
  10. I know but I'd prefer to get answers from people who have been here a while. You'd still get replies from people who have been here a while in general? You are highly unlikely to recieve the responses you're after by posting it in here, as a lot more people frequent the other areas. There are a lot of knowlegable people who don't even bother to look into OT.
  11. You'd probably have better responses if you put it in General Dog discussion not off topic ;)
  12. It seems most of my street must have vacated for NYE! There is no-one around and no fireworks for a change.
  13. When I say every 2 -3 hours that is me taking her out, that is picking her up and carrying her out. She is only inside through the night - no problems there - but she spends more time outside with her brother - who as I have mentioned does not have a problem. I have even watched her poop outside then she comes in waits maybe 30min and then goes. Diet is that same as when i collected them week and a half ago. So, that means she needs to go out every half an hour, regardless of when she last went.. remember, she is a BABY and has a tiny bladder. if my pup didn't go outside every half an hour, there WOULD be an accident. He'd even get distracted going to the loo, come inside and pee straight away. You seem to have a lot of excuses for why it's happening, but don't seem to be taking suggestions on board as to fix it.
  14. Every 2-3 hrs is not enough... If it was she wouldn't be pooping inside. The seconod she circles, or nose hits the floor, out the door. At 9 weeks you can't assume they know to go outside. It takes months for dogs to be reliably toilet trained.
  15. If you want a beach that just permits dogs, make sure you check the hours they're actually allowed down there off lead. This time of year there's specific time frames.
  16. If it's only recent, maybe allergies. Both my boys have pretty mucky eyes this year and they're really red. The vet says it's just allergies. One dog isn't on any treatment, the other has cortizone tablets every 2 days as he's got rashes under his armpits and gets itchy all over.
  17. Bored, or seperation anxiety is my thoughts. How much stimulation does he get from you at home, aside from just being with you? My fella needs at least an hour walk every day ideally, and 2-3 training sessions a day to keep him ticking over. Even with that he is still destructive and stressy. I've just put him on a calming supplement for a while to see how he goes. He's only been on it since Friday and we were home all weekend, so time will tell whether it keeps him calmer and stops the digging (his stress reaction).
  18. Leave the agressive one behind. You'll be working with children, so it's not worth the risk. If your mum can manage him appropriately then it's the best place for him.

  20. Greyhoud zoomies are awesome. I saw my friends dog doing it on video yesterday... Never seen something so funny.
  21. Cottage Kennels is great, we've used them a lot for our older girls. They even do pick up and drop off. All Breeds look like it's good too but I haven't used them.
