  1. My boy developed allergies to chicken a while ago so we changed him to Pro Plan sensitive skin and stomach and that is brilliant. Cleared his issues right up.
  2. My boy wouldn't keep one on when he was younger, so he just had to freeze. Being a vizsla he felt the cold a lot, and dropped weight but there wasn't much we could do. Now he wears them fine.
  3. Our 5yo has recently started going off his chops too.. and I know why so now I have to unbreak the bad habit I created *sigh*
  4. E, you are awesome, you've come so far. Its only up from here xxx
  5. When we go to work, dogs are outside, this year both will have coats on during winter. If it's particularly stormy or the yard is a swamp then they'll stay inside, one crated and one not because we have a storm phobic dog. If we're just out on weekends and it's raining then they stay inside because we won't be gone long.
  6. Yup.. found him locked in the laundry and another time, like Liz.. he was still crated. His sister when she was a puppy was found 'lost' in Mum and Dads giant walk in wardrobe.
  7. They would've, but they'll have settles a little but will still miss you. the reunion will be great.
  8. They do. I went to NZ for a week, the longest i'd left them both. When I got home, I hid in the bedroom while OH let them inside. All i could hear was their thundering feet and I heard them stop in the kitchen and sniff. Diesel headed back outside sniffing madly, Bundy to the bedroom. He stopped in the doorway and just looked at me as I was on the bed, and launched himself across the room into my arms. Diesel thundered back through the house and threw himself at me whining with delight. Both dogs were bouncing around, barking and licking me. For the rest of the day I had two shadows. They both took turns glueing themselves to me for cuddles  I honestly thought i'd get their usual 2 min happy dance, then they'd leave me alone, but they kept it up for half an hour! I was pretty thrilled with their reactions, infact Diesel who's OH's dog was more excited than Bundy (he gave me the cold shoulder the next day!). The whole time I was away they coped fine, Bundy would just run to the window and check each car as it went past for the first day, after that I wasn't missed at all, they just figured it was the 'new normal' but once I was back they were happy dogs.
  9. Yes Bundyburger I forgot about the dobber.Stan will dob straight away even if he doesn't know what he's dobbing about...I open the door and there is Stan...it was not me I swear  It's funny, I don't have to ask what he's done now, he just slinks up to the front door to greet us.. and as soon as Bundy gets out of his crate if I haven't found the 'evidence' he always does :)
  10. If we leave ours indoors, B's in the crate and D has run of the house. We always know when he's been naughty because he looks sheepish, and then I have to check the house to see what he's done Last week he ate a plastic container, and he'd hidden it in the spare bedroom so it took me ages to find it, and even then it was only because Bundy had dobbed him in and found it first.
  11. I don't think you can really discourage it, and will probably have to let it run it's course, I'm not sure the vet could even do anything? If you do a search there might already be similar threads on this? If she's more relaxed hiding in the wardrobe, I'd just let her do that for now, it's not like it's dangerous behaviour, and I know i'd prefer a more relaxed dog than a stressy one. I think i read something about the dogs hormones telling the brain that they're pregnant or just had babies after being speyed so they go all maternal for a few days until the hormones settle again. Hopefully someone with more knowlege than me will be able to put your mind at ease :)
  12. I've only had one bitch, but I've heard of this happening before, as their hormones are all over the place and take a while to settle down.
  13. I'm assuming you're never out for very long? Why not crate train him properly? That'll help with toilet training too.
  14. The website has them at $29.95 for all sizes. It'll be online too. They have a good ranfe of coats. I was buying mine this weekend but might wait now.
  15. My first suggestion would be to talk to the breeder and explain the situation.
  16. I'm going away for a week and leaving the dog/s at home with my OH and I'm having enough trouble with that I'm sure he'll be just fine, and you'll get home and wonder what you were worried about!
  17. Our dog was scratching so we put them both on comfortis. It took a week but they haven't scratched in over a month. Now one is scratching again so I'll have to buy some more. Nothing else worked for us.
  18. I've used it on my two dogs. I used it on the vizsla because he gets very anxious when I leave for work and he digs holes a lot. It calmed him down nicely, and I stopped using it. I'm going overseas for a week, so he'll be at home with my partner, and I have a feeling he'll be 'calmed' up to the eyeballs for a week  It really chills him out and almost turns him into a 'stoner'. My kelpie on the other hand needs a triple dose for it to even touch the sides for him. He only gets it when we know in advance a really bad storm is coming, as he totally loses his marbles.
  19. I'll always ask first, but I'll only feed dogs who belong to people I know. If a random's dog came up and was begging for treats forget it... but even if I'm out walking with friends, I'll ask before giving their dogs treats.
  20. I like the one that has the little boy and the dog... and his sign says "Hey mcdonalds, my sister doesn't know she's adopted' Love the responses.
  21. Sounds strange to me... do you have any sticky plants that maybe covered it in sap or something??
  22. Oh Sas, he was so special. Big hugs to you.
  23. Pick it up?? I have heard that you can feed them pinapple or something acidic so it no longer tastes nice. Thankfully my boy outgrew that habit before it came an issue.
  24. Our dogs are our 'kids' but they are definitely just dogs and don't come close to being a child substitute. We often joke we don't need kids because the dogs cause enough mischief, but they never have been treated like children.. Can you imagine trying to teach them to sit at the table and eat politely at dinner time? Too much effort
