  1. I've got proplan bins coming out my ears, I think we've gone from 1 to 5 I had to say no last week when they offered another one  They're great even for general storage.
  2. If you get worried about how they'll react, one or both are probably picking on your anxiety.
  3. Nice looking fellow, but that photo looks like he has been cut out of another picture and plonked in the middle of that yard? Or just badly photoshopped in general? J, the pic is just badly scanned by the looks of things, the person selling the horse is a legit mini breeder. If I was in the position to buy a decent one, i'd buy one from her.
  4. Ahh Dyzney, after all this time I think you solved my problem  OH would do 99% of the loo runs and he always (even 3 years on) praises the dogs as soon as they start!! I never looked at it that simply
  5. I read it somewhere that it is dog's nature to roll in the poo? And others as well? I have all kind of wipes with me just in case too! Most dogs don't roll in their own poo or other dogs poo. They like rolling in possum, rabbit and cow poo because it smells good to them.
  6. If all tests come back fine, then he's obviously not emptying his bladder fully the first time. My dog was a pest, he would go outside, go to the loo, come inside, pee immediately, put him out he'd go again, and bring him in and he'd pee AGAIN. I learnt pretty quickly to read his signals and know when he hadn't fully emptied the first time. I'd have to keep telling him to go and he would. He'd run around outside, pee, run around, pee, run around and then come inside. It took him until he was about 10 months for it to stop happening. I would just have to let him out, bring him in, then take him straight back out, and so on until knew he was finished. He was crate trained from early on, but we left him in there even longer, for a few hours at a time which helped regulate him more.
  7. Sounds like you need a fence, or need to have a chat to your inlaws about boundaries and what you're trying to achieve and get them on board.
  8. Ohh poor old girl. If our oldest wasn't such a fussy bum, I'd snaffle Mum up in a heartbeat once pups were old enough. Poor old girl.
  9. Yep ours watch animal cops, border security, monsters inc, shrek and many more
  10. Saff, how'd you organise the assessment? I'm mobile again so hoping to join in the next few weeks.
  11. Janis's boy... He looks like a lovely old fellow. Sorry the pics are a bit big, I took them off FB as my photobucket is being a pain and won't let me shrink it tonight .
  12. Grieve as much as you need to, it may not ever go away but it does get easier. He is free of pain which is the best gift you can give him, and you'll never forget him either. Big hugs from me, I was thinking of you all day today My girl who left 2 weeks ago today will be showing him the way :)
  13. Hope he's ok Janis, how's he feeling?. You can send me the pic if you like and I can upload it tomorrow?
  14. Me too, when I was a child. My beautiful companion and best friend of 16 years was given her wings 2 weeks ago. She was fit and healthy until she just went downhill. In 24hs she went from fit and healthy to being on deaths door. 3 days later she was gone. I saw her the day before, she hung in for me so I could see her. I took one look at her and just knew, they really honestly DO tell you, I really thought she wouldn't but she did. The next morning I tucked her coat around her as she lay curled up in her bed at the vets unable to walk or stand. She leant forward and licked my nose just once and burrowed into my arms like she always did for cuddles. That was the first and last acknowlegement she gave me that she knew I was there, and I have some beautiful last memories.. It was by far the hardest thing I've ever had to do, and I will never ever forget it, but I know in my heart it was the best thing for my beautiful girl. EVen now I question my decision, but keep reminding myself even though I miss her desperately, it was time for her to leave. Knowing what you need to do, and actually doing it is so incredibly hard, but as so many people said to me, you have to focus on the wonderful amazing years you had together and not focus on the sad stuff. I'm currently wearing my girl's collar tag on a chain, I'll get a proper memorial pendant made up as soon as I have the strength to look through all my photos. I know this is probably waffling but it's so close to my heart right now and I'm struggling to see through my tears. Trust in yourself, and in your relationship with your boy that you will make the right choice for him tomorrow. Thinking of you xxx
  15. Saff, Action Dogs intake was in August, so they probably won't do another till around March. Geraldine is a possibility for me once I get off my crutches, it's just disheartening when you've put all this work into your dog an dhe loves what he does but it's still never good enough to make it into any clubs so you can learn properly.
  16. Erny, I looked at your classes and they sounded amazing, however cost was a factor. I wanted to get into agility with my boy, but it's awfully disheartening at the lack of options available, I've just about given up on the idea now.
  17. I was talking about classes with one instructor. 12 in a class and 2 instructors isn't too big at all, whereas 12 to 1 means that some people are going to struggle and miss out on help.
  18. Large to me would probably be 8, but I have trained successfully in a group that was about 12, but that was the limit of Bundy's coping ability. Is there such a thing as too small? Possibly, but i think that would depend on the instructor and the group dynamics I guess.
  19. Sounds great Tamara. There are things in that list that we still need to work on desperately  It sounds like there's a lot of variety which is good. I'd definitely attend a class like that, provided the class sizes weren't too large. I'd also have the release word as one of the first things you learn, because I know from experience that trying to remember to use one when you've started training the basics without one is awfully difficult!! As a result I still don't use one and I should
  20. Amypie, I have one of those too... So funny.
  21. Hi Janis, guess who this is :p I know it could mean a lot of things but panting and then drooling were the only signs our girl was sick.I'd take him for a check up.
  22. When Bundy was a pup we fed him frozen carrots in summer and to help with his teeth. Our two line up when they hear me chopping up carrots for dinner and would happily sneak off with their own. They don't love them enough to work for them in training like I know some dogs do.
  23. 6 weeks is awfully small to leave mum Just keep offering her food as you are, she will eat if she is hungry. WHen pups go to new homes some of them go off their food for a while, mine did. Have you called the breeder for advice? I wouldn't be feeding her weetbix and milk, i'd just keep her on the dog food. Don't leave the food out and don't pander to her or you'll cause ongoing issues. Just feed 3 x a day, and take it away if she doesn't eat.
