I think you should be looking at some adult dogs at some rescue's. One's that have been fostered so you get some idea of what they are like.

Labrador hip score 8 - 7 on left side
Rebanne replied to Smb091's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
agree with ish. 7 wouldn't bother me either. Just be aware, as you should be with any dog, that too much or too hard exercise may create problems. Keep her lean and just enjoy! -
The same

You don't get points for just winning your age class you get points for winning the challenge and best of breed. The winning dog gets 6 points for winning and one point for each dog they beat. I think most state authorities would have a table on their website to help new people work out the points

I've raised large breed pups on Supercoat puppy and puppy milk but added the raw chickens bits and other bits and bobs. My pups were taken off all puppy food by 4 months of age. Fed half dry food, half raw, though sometimes the raw might have been cooked, all dogs enjoyed a warm stew in winter time or a bowl of porridge. Do you feel you pup needs more food or do you just want to mix things up a bit? If he was mine, he would be nearly down to 2 meals a day, one of which would not be commerical food.

What did his breeder recommend? I always like to add raw chicken necks/wings.

I've not had this problem so not sure I will have any helpful suggestions. Is the mum not allowed to feed them at all? Cause I wonder if the pups could go in with her after you had fed them? What about a tight fitting t-shirt on the Mum? A sedative to ease the stress of the Mum. What a nightmare for you both. I only live in a small house so would never be able to seperate them enough so Mum couldn't hear the pups.

well it turned out alright, defrosted well, so all's good.

Opinions please, ACD for begniners?
Rebanne replied to BarkingPups's topic in Training / Obedience / Dog Sports
My first dog, when I was 20, was a GSD X ACD. I didn't have any problems with her. It's really up to your friend on how this will work out. All you can do is suggest puppy school and then an obedience club. Mind you I never took mine to either. -
I always tell people what the price is. No point hiding it.

Can you freeze the dog roll food? Warrior, Greyhound, is 10 1/2 now and is getting a bit ho hum about food. I'm happy to spoil him. I bought some V.I.P dog roll this morning. A 3 kilo roll. He'll get a kilo a day and I'll see how his weight holds on that. If he seems happy with this I'll buy several at a time and cut it up and freeze it in meal sizes if it's ok to be frozen. He had bloods done not long ago and a dental. All was fine. Normal diet was minced chicken necks and dry food, about 50/50. He's not fussed about it any more though happy to eat whole chicken necks, which he'll continue to get.

Get them on video and report them

time and meds from the vet is the only things I have heard helps from someone whose dog was severely attacked twice in 3 weeks.

Liver Toxicity In Dogs From Contaminated Pet Food
Rebanne replied to Deeds's topic in General Dog Discussion
Would have been horrific for all the staff, so stressful. -
So sorry this has happened to you. I've had a pup like this, I got her at 8 weeks. Saw her several times at the breeders first. This was many years ago. I knew she was on the timid side. She was a very unhappy dog and I relieved her pain when she was 21 months old. No drugs to help, that I knew of, all those years ago.

I give my 35 kilo dogs a child's dose for things like that

My experience with Vestibular disease is it's sudden onset and quite severe. My boy could barely stand up. I have read some dogs can never fully recover but mine did in a month or so. Can you get a 2nd opinion?

big hugs to you all @Merc

I have heard some pups have this reaction, particularly to the liquid. Give him a different brand in a tablet next time.
-
If I was the breeder of said puppy I'd be delighted to get puppy back and give the buyers their money back. To be honest I'm not sure what you are asking, not are you the buyer or seller. I'm guessing what is at stake is the clause about only giving back half the money paid, if that.

oh Emma is so pretty!

Costs of conformation showing?
Rebanne replied to WanaHavanese's topic in Training / Obedience / Dog Sports
That could be possible with a neutered older dog. There are neuter classes. It is a good way to learn the ropes. -
Can I have a couple of recommendations for a Greyhound with some issues please. Not mine, a newly adopted one
-
Um you need to get a reputable behaviourist to come and see your dogs, all of them. Impossible to diagnose or offer any suggestion over the internet and so much info not given.
-
be very fussy about breed! What's the point in buying a dog, and that's what adoption is, that does not suit you? Dog is unhappy, people are unhappy, something bad can and often happens.
