  1. and she is my friend I am very lucky to have been gifted several of her paintings/drawings of my dogs
  2. https://pbase.com/greytails/artwork&page=all something like this?
  3. No ticks where I live and rarely do I see a flea. So I'm not much help.
  4. if the owner is not a member of a state body i.e. DogsNSW and has not done the breeder course then the pups will not be able to be registered. Have the parents of the pups had their relevant health tests?
  5. Opal is one to go out into the rain as well, she'd be so restless, pacing around and around, inside and out. She's the one that put herself into a crate last time and stayed there.
  6. I have a shear magic and they use batteries. I bought them to trim the Greyhounds "skirt" mainly. Belly hairs. I still have it, about 15 years old. I think they would be pretty light weight for a coated dog but having Greys I'm not into real clippers so don't know much
  7. Yeah I have one is is very worried about thunder and fireworks, one medium worried and one not worried at all. I do use an over the counter calming tablet and many doses of rescue remedy. Last time my most frightened dog found a safe place for herself and put herself to bed in one of my crates. (no door) I was thinking of getting some valium from the vet for New Years Eve but have decided to ride it out and see if the safe place helps again. As you know it's not always easy to know when you are about to get a thunderstorm and sometimes you aren't home to give the dog meds. So beside meds I suggest a safe place for your dog, the bathroom, bottom of your wardrobe etc. Always with the door open a bit. I can't help with the mowing except to put your dog inside
  8. You can make pants like Asal said but he also needs to see a vet. My first dog had both elbows operated on many years ago at age 7. Healed very well and never had another and died at 13.
  9. Penny is a lucky girl to have landed with you @raineth
  10. I use a large rubber rubbish bin. Sometimes I tip the dry food straight into it and sometimes I just pop the open bag in, depending how much food I have to go in. Easily takes a 20 kilo bag but I doubt you need that size
  11. No ideas here sorry. I have mats down in the kitchen on the lino and they do work well
  12. I usually take out the stitches myself after a spey. If you are confident dog owner you could ask your vet for a stitch cutter and do it yourself. If not I must say I would err on the side of caution and book her in for the Wednesday after. Yes that's 15 days, but she was speyed very soon after being in season. And you wouldn't want things to "fall apart" over the holidays.
  13. While I am happy you are happy some of that wording is strange. Good breeders do know heaps about their dogs and medical histories. Just as much as "some government agency"
  14. I think you should be looking at some adult dogs at some rescue's. One's that have been fostered so you get some idea of what they are like.
  15. agree with ish. 7 wouldn't bother me either. Just be aware, as you should be with any dog, that too much or too hard exercise may create problems. Keep her lean and just enjoy!
  16. You don't get points for just winning your age class you get points for winning the challenge and best of breed. The winning dog gets 6 points for winning and one point for each dog they beat. I think most state authorities would have a table on their website to help new people work out the points
  17. I've raised large breed pups on Supercoat puppy and puppy milk but added the raw chickens bits and other bits and bobs. My pups were taken off all puppy food by 4 months of age. Fed half dry food, half raw, though sometimes the raw might have been cooked, all dogs enjoyed a warm stew in winter time or a bowl of porridge. Do you feel you pup needs more food or do you just want to mix things up a bit? If he was mine, he would be nearly down to 2 meals a day, one of which would not be commerical food.
  18. What did his breeder recommend? I always like to add raw chicken necks/wings.
  19. I've not had this problem so not sure I will have any helpful suggestions. Is the mum not allowed to feed them at all? Cause I wonder if the pups could go in with her after you had fed them? What about a tight fitting t-shirt on the Mum? A sedative to ease the stress of the Mum. What a nightmare for you both. I only live in a small house so would never be able to seperate them enough so Mum couldn't hear the pups.
  20. well it turned out alright, defrosted well, so all's good.
  21. My first dog, when I was 20, was a GSD X ACD. I didn't have any problems with her. It's really up to your friend on how this will work out. All you can do is suggest puppy school and then an obedience club. Mind you I never took mine to either.
  22. I always tell people what the price is. No point hiding it.
  23. Can you freeze the dog roll food? Warrior, Greyhound, is 10 1/2 now and is getting a bit ho hum about food. I'm happy to spoil him. I bought some V.I.P dog roll this morning. A 3 kilo roll. He'll get a kilo a day and I'll see how his weight holds on that. If he seems happy with this I'll buy several at a time and cut it up and freeze it in meal sizes if it's ok to be frozen. He had bloods done not long ago and a dental. All was fine. Normal diet was minced chicken necks and dry food, about 50/50. He's not fussed about it any more though happy to eat whole chicken necks, which he'll continue to get.
