Not in Victoria it is not.

I wouldn't leave it another month I'd be chasing them up now. if you get no joy from the breeder then go to Dogs West ( or whatever they are called ). Do you have proof like a reciept or email from the breeder saying your pup was to come with main papers? Include a copy of that in your correspondence. I am surprised you had to give the breeder a microchip number, did they not chip the pups before selling them?

Maybe just take him out regularly instead of waiting for him to tell you? Of course the fact that he wee's inside while you are away doesn't help but you know that. Could you throw down some old towels for him to wee on, they are easily washed.

I had a dog seriously injured in my back yard once. Took a while to get him over the fear of it happening again. I just kept taking him outside.

Nsw To Ban Greyhound Racing From July 2017
Rebanne replied to The Spotted Devil's topic in In The News
That is a very different statement to what you posted above. Stop exaggerating and being ridiculous. And I'm no fan of the RSPCA. Their kill stats are abhorrent. But he did not say that every single greyhound that comes to them will be slaughtered no questions asked. Pointing to RSPCA kill stats is classic diversion tactics. Again the industry and its supporters try to just point the finger away from their own failings rather than accept the unacceptable issues from within. This is exactly why shutting down the industry is the only answer. Now, anyone want to provide any evidence of the move to erode pet ownership in the many countries that banned Greyhound racing long ago? Or is that all just scaremongering and sky is falling reactions from those who think that the level of 'wastage' needed to support people gambling is just fine and dandy? I think I know which it is... Could you please post the names of the countries that have banned grey racing? The USA for one has banned it in almost all States for some time. As for your quote - again, that is NOT what Asal said, which is that all Greyhounds will be automatically slaughtered without even being given a chance. I want a source for that quote (there isn't one, beecause it was never said). No they haven't. What has been banned is betting. Big difference. -

Yep I read the RSPCA quote of 50% will be PTS (slaughtered) due to being not suitable for rehoming. So they have a closed mind already -

Why should they? Are you saying they are all liars? -
where's the link to the proposed changes?

me too, I wouldn't risk one of my animals just to keep another. They don't have to love each other and be best buddies but there's a line they can't cross and this dog is over it. Poor thing, it wouldn't be any fun living in such a state.

If this 'fact sheet' is the best they can come up with I don't think they will convince anyone! Just the first few things to jump out at me are 'We already know injuries and litters are just a fraction of what was guessed during the Inquiry' Since when is 'We already know' evidence of anything? Who already knows, how do they already know? What evidence is there that "they" know anything? What "fraction" was it? The fraction could be 99% of what was guessed, it is still a fraction. This isn't a fact at all yet they have it listed on a fact sheet. Anyone can read a report and say 'I already know this is wrong', that doesn't prove anything as fact. 'The figure of "50-70%" of greyhound pups being euthanised is a fabrication, with less than one-tenth of that number being the actual figure - and most of that figure is for illness, old age and other' Even if they were going to prove that the actual figure is less than one-tenth... they have just claimed that some of the greyhound PUPS euthanised were done so for reason of old age. Not a great way to state something as fact. 'Many rehomed greyhounds were previously counted as part of 'wastage' when they were actually healthy and happy pets' How many is 'many'? 1,000? 15? It's just a meaningless thing to say, the word 'many' is completely subjective. Looks like you can't read. They're saying that most greyhounds have died of old age, they were not killed. I have heaps of old greyhounds here, I am like most people in the industry, we prefer to keep our old greyhounds for ourselves as pets, we don't like giving away older greyhounds to rehoming groups. Plus, when people try to give older greyhounds to rehoming groups (I know for a fact, because I've been trying to save other trainer's retired greyhounds by helping to rehome them and their older greyhounds were always knocked back by these rehoming groups apparently because people don't want old greyhounds, they want cute puppies or young greyhounds. Just yesterday I asked a rescuer group if they could help my mum rehome 7 of the pet greyhounds (aged between 5 to 11) because the owner died 2 weeks ago of lung cancer and my mum is too ill to take them on herself due to her age, and the rescuer group said they can only help with the younger greys because they find them easier to rehome.) If you look on my FB page friends list, you would see hundreds of them posting on their own walls, pics of their old greys lazing about on their lounge in the house. Most of these friends have between 1 to 18 pet greyhounds EACH. They've never given them away to be rehomed. This is why you don't see many older greyhounds in full sight, because trainers don't generally take them all out for walks in public. I certainly have never taken any of my 8 retired greys out in public as I don't trust the off leash/uncontrolled dogs (esp pitbull types, staffy types, doberman types, german shepherd types etc ) as so many pet owners are just plain irresponsible and don't care about training their pet dogs to be good dogs. Years ago a unleashed Doberman took off from his owners while walking along a highway and he crossed the highway to charge at me walking my 3 greyhounds and it was only my frantic screams while I was trying to get the muzzles off my greys so they could defend themselves against this raving 50kgs monster, that brought a passerby to my rescue with a big stick to beat off the Doberman. He was still trying to mouth at my little grey's throat and I was screaming at the stupid owners to pull the dog off, they finally managed to pull him off but told me off for having greyhounds even though mine were on leads and muzzled. They didn't see anything wrong with their dog charging at my dogs unprovoked. This is just one of the few incidents that's happened to me so 10 years ago I quit taking my greyhounds out in public and just preferred to let them potter on my acreage and gallop about in my paddock. They're happy and safe. And certainly living a longer life not being mauled every day by irresponsible owners' dogs. Ahh, I'm actually quite glad you explained that to me. I thought I was pointing out what nonsense it was that they used the term 'greyhound PUPS' (a pup being a young dog) and then said they had died of old age. But you must be right, the actual problem is that I don't know how to read. What a terrible shame it is that my illiteracy has stopped me from bothering with the utter drivel that was the rest of your post The rest of the post was (a) about dogs being attacked, (b) about people keeping their old greyhounds and © about rescue groups not wanting old dogs. Hardly drivel. I don't walk my greyhounds around the streets either, too many twits and nasty dogs. -

according to a Greens page on FB they are going to have Greyhound sanctuaries where all the lucky greyhounds get to go. Pity he couldn't answer any of my questions such as what happens to the ones that can't be adopted out, what happens to the ones who could be adopted out but the homes aren't there, what's the timeline of these greyhounds etc -
Kings, you are obviously very happy with your choice of breeder, I am not sure why you bothered to ask anything here as you seem to disagree with any comment negative about the breeder, no matter how slight. So just enjoy your choice, visit your pup when you can and wait until you can bring him/her home.

Great post Steve. And for those that think that after a few generations the racing bred grey will lose thier instincts Besides the fact that hardly anyone (if anyone) will bother to breed race bred greys for pets my showbred greys have had no race blood for many generations and they have plenty of instinct. Long before greyhound racing and coursing they were hunting prey big and little. It's all still there, under the skin and it doesn't take much to bring it out. -

Very happy about this yet your next sentence is lots of dogs are going to be destroyed. There is no plan in place as yet. Maybe in 3 months according to the Government. What happens to all the greys in Vic, for example, waiting their turn to go into GAP or rescue? Will they be displaced by NSW dogs? Are all the bleeding hearts a suitable home for a greyhound? I'd suggest no. It's not as if they couldn't have adopted a greyhound previously so why didn't they? Cause they don't want one. The homes aren't there. The ANKC world had better hope eyes aren't turned their way, after all they have a few bad eggs who do the wrong thing, much like the greyhound world. And look at what has happened to Greyhounds NSW. think is pretty obvious answer. The precendent is set. some bad eggs mean the rest go too. was wondering why no questions in the censis asked if a household had pets , what species and how many? now that would have let the cat out of the bag as to how many there actually are would have been seriously interesting to have accurate instead of estimate figures well apparently some in the farming sector think they will be next under the spotlight Yes I think so and I very much fear that if NSW wins then the rest of the country will fold within 10 years and what becomes of my beloved breed then? -

I understand that all greyhounds born after 1st July 2017 will automatically be allowed to be muzzle free. Disaster waiting to happen. Once a few unsuitable greyhounds rip apart a few small fluffies they will go the way of the pitbull here in Vic and be banned totally. BSL at it's finest. -
Same breed ?? Different breeds, this one is a cobberdog and the older dog was a mixed small white fluffy (very gentle personality) dog but who liked sleeping/cuddling a lot What's a cobberdog? I know it's some sort of a cross breed but can't think what for the life of me. It's mostly a multi-generation labrador x poodle, but also has some spaniels in there - its a breed in development at the moment. I think the MDBA are trying to register it as a Cobberdog and there another group called the Australian Labradoodle Association which is registering it as an "Australian Labradoodle" Ta, I couldn't for the life of me recall if it was the lab x poodle or the other one also supposedly in development which has bulldogs? being crossed

25 puppies of the same age! Guess they need better fences. I worry that you think "your" litter will get better attention then the others. All the pups should get the same attention and inter action but whether that happens you'll have to put your trust in your breeder. Have the teenagers all left school? Have the pups parents been DNA tested? Some deadly diseases in Border Collies. (Although, as one of the planned litters and from the breeder's favourite dog, the whelping box for my litter is in the breeders own bedroom and so this litter is likely to get the best attention).
