Why Do A Lot Of Ppl Feel It's Ok For Pet Shops To Sell .....
Kirty replied to Chezy's topic in General Dog Discussion
I don't support pet shops selling animals at all, and only buy from produce type stores. My bunny is from a reg'd breeder too. But I don't think selling fish is really an issue. Having said that, I buy my fish from proper aquarium shops or breeders. However, I think that puppies and kittens are the ones filling our pounds and shelters and pet shops don't help that situation. -
I Think I Should Stop Going Into Pet Shops :-/

Ditto. I don't buy anything from pet shops that sell puppies and kittens because I refuse to support their business. -
Stubbs has a pedigree dog. Wonder why he didn't stick up for them?

It shouldn't be up to pet owners to get their dogs tested though. Breeders need to test their dogs PRIOR to having a litter. Sure an MRI is expensive, but I gather it is a one-off test for each dog and should be done just like heart screening and eye screening.

Unfortunately with so many BYB jumping on the Pei bandwagon, I am actually surprised they don't attack more people. There are so many grossly unsound (in mind and body) Pei's out there, its a real shame. It sounds like both people were bitten quite severely so I'm thinking the woman was doing everything she could do stop the attack and obviously stabbing the dog was a last resort. And when they say 'stabbed to death' - she may have only stabbed it once or twice in the back or legs in an attempt to get it off her husband. Lots of blood vessels down there to hit that would cause a dog to bleed out. I'm sure she didn't stand there assaulting it wildly in order to kill it.

I'd be interested too! I have a Greyhound who loves to pose! LOL!

I'm so sorry. RIP Baz.

You said you distract her with a toy when she air snaps - to me, that is continuing the game and possibly even rewarding her behaviour. When she does it, I would say 'ARGH' and stop the game immediately. She has to learn that using her teeth is NOT on and will end the fun instantly.

Disgusting.

Contact Nekhbet or Cosmolo. They are fantastic trainers and every experience I've had with them has been a positive one. You don't need a 'dog whisperer', you need a fantastic trainer or behaviourist.

Hope he isn't taking notes! LOL

Good luck with the surgery. He will feel much better once those eyelashes are gone!

What a crock of poo. So if they get a 10yr old Staffy x surrendered they will find a home for it? BS. They will get it PTS. But if a healthy 1yo oodle is returned, they will probably sell it again and get more $$$. I call a rat.

We have had so many 'lost' posters sent to our clinic for Frenchies, and all of them were entire. If you have a Frenchie, I would desex it (and tattoo) as soon as safe for the dog.

I'm so sorry Noisy. RIP Kaisie.

Is this the opinion of a specialist or a general practice vet?

I'm so sorry you've had to make this decision. I have tears in my eyes for you because I know exactly how you are feeling. Sending you big hugs.

There is a gorgeous Shiba Inu at the AAPS in Keysborough. Poor baby has lost an eye and looks so sad in her pen. I know the AAPS do a GREAT job but it would be great if she could go to an experienced home... http://www.aaps.org.au/dogs/dogs_page_one.html

Distichia can be present from a young age, but they can also develop or change as the dog grows. It might just be one stubborn hair or there might be a small cluster. They don't just go away on their own though unfortunately. They can be plucked out for immediate relief, but they will eventually grow back unless they are removed properly (cut out or frozen). But it might not be distichia at all. :D
