Dr Harry is a tool. I'd be hoping he doesn't show up.

I think Tilly has been here for 3 weeks now, so I doubt she brought it with her. We are surrounded by dogs here so perhaps one of them gave it to her? But none of my dogs are vaccinated against KC and none of the others have it? Its all a bit odd.

Tilly has been coughing all night. I suspect its kennel cough, but how would she get it? She has been here for weeks now and hasn't been for walk in over a week (because we have all been so sick). The last dog to go off the property in the last week was Pia to dog obedience. Could Pia have brought it home? If so, wouldn't they all have it? This is so weird!

Not that I know of. But your dog is GORGEOUS.

Oscar Becomes World's First Bionic Cat After Farm Accident
Kirty replied to Ravyk's topic in In The News
No its not like that at all aleeleewolfe. You can explain to a human that in x amount of time, they will feel better, etc. You cannot explain to an animal that it is suffering but in the long term it will be better. Animals don't understand the future, they only know the here and now. -
Are you sure his night vision isn't deteriorating? It can happen quite quickly. He might not be totally blind, but his vision may be impaired.

Aww looks like you all had a great time and perfect weather too! Hopefully next month is great too. And I will be there, I WILL be there...

I need money. Thats all.

I'm so disappointed, I was really looking forward to it. If it wasn't so far away I'd probably come but it will take me almost 2 hours to get there. My head is killing me so its probably not the best idea to be driving long distances by myself. Have fun and I am DEFINITELY coming next time! LOL!

Of All The Cheaper Dry Dogfoods Which Is The Best?
Kirty replied to Stitch's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
I have used Bonnie and Cobber and I like both. My 25kg dogs get 1.5-2 cups a day of this. -
I'm so sorry for your loss. RIP Chancey.
-
Sorry guys but I won't be coming tomorrow afterall. I've had gastro the last few days and am really not feeling up to it.
-
So sorry for your loss. RIP Jessie cat.

I'm pleased to report that Champa has recovered from his ordeal. I unfortunately came down with gastro two days ago so have been stuck in bed and unable to tackle the garage. My husband was not happy to find his games room trashed. The deal when we bought the house was that the garage was an 'animal free zone'. Oops.

They have DOZENS of toys in the backyard. And if the kids (or my husband) leave their shoes or toys outside, the dogs destroy them and don't get in trouble. Everyone knows if you leave something outside, its fair game. No point blaming the dog. Anyway, I am glad to read that other people have had dogs like Champa. We rescued him at about 5 weeks of age and he has done formal obedience training and had lots of socialisation. He is such a great dog is so many other respects - he is fine with the cats and great with the kids, he loves EVERYBODY (he was trying to lick the vet as he took Champa's temperature)... Anyway, I will definitely be looking into the containment systems.

Did the lady say when they were coming in? I'd be happy to post one to you from work if you want. I have no idea how much they cost.

Thanks noisy.

Thanks for the offer Chewy, but its OK. The paperwork obviously can't be replaced and the fabric wasn't expensive. It was just cotton for show curtains and polar fleece that I use to make blankets for the fosters. Apparently Spotlight has a sale so I'll have to head down there. The carry boxes will still function, they are just chewed and pissed on. He also ripped open the full bags of cat litter and threw them around too... Its quite a sight really!

Aidan, as far as I know he hasn't eaten anything unusual. The dogs are fed the same diet consistently. Raw bones and dryfood. Nek, he only bloats directly after a meal which, wasn't the case this morning because he gets fed at night. And even then, he is only bloated for maybe half an hour and its just a little bit, nothing that would indicate he was going to torsion or that he was in pain. Only other time he bloats is after he eats 8kg of cat food. His previous record was 3.5kg so today was a super effort. :D sas, will definitely look into those collars. Knowing him, it wouldn't stop him though. This is the dog who once ate so many lemons, his lips were ulcerated. But he kept eating them (he was climbing the tree to get them). Can you imagine how much it must have hurt to eat lemons with ulcerated lips?? Deterrants such as pepper, etc don't help either because he'll just eat it.

Thanks again everyone. Sorry for my rantings, I would never hurt my dogs - I was just so angry and upset. Tilly, Maisie is my good girl! She is NEVER naughty. I have given up on a backyard though. Its just not worth the stress really. The lawn is full of craters where they bury their bones but I'm happy to let them have that.

The frustrating thing is that he won't do anything for months and months, then he will do something like this. I was home the whole time he was doing this today, just didn't hear him. He seems perfectly happy 95%of the time. He doesn't bark or dig or cry or whinge to come inside. He is normally very happy to just chew on his bone and play with the other dogs. He LOVES the other dogs and they all sleep together, play together, etc. He loves his walks, he gets a good run offlead most days, etc. He has never injured himself and today is the first time I was actually worried about his bloating. He is not stressed as far as I can see. He always seems happy to me. Quite often his targets will be something totally new so its hard to predict his behaviour. As I said, I don't put collars on the other dogs now because he eats them (and I am not just talking about chewing them off - he EATS them) and they don't get beds. They get blankets and I buy very cheap coats so I can afford to replace them as required.

I don't do routines here. Its hard enough to get my kids in a routine let alone the dogs. Walks and meals can happen at any time. For the most part, I have found it keeps them more calm because they are never expecting a meal or a walk. bow wowy, thanks but I am far from incredible. If you had seen me sitting her a few hours ago cursing and bawling my eyes out you would have thought (probably correctly) I was just a crazy woman! LOL!

Thank you all so much for your support. We are back from the vet and Champa is fine. He threw up all over the car as we were pulling in to the carpark and was much happier then. By the time the vet saw him, he was fine. The vet felt his tummy and said its all food, not air. He gave him a shot of Maxalon to help move things along, but he wasn't concerned that he was going to torsion or anything. He said not to feed him today and probably not tomorrow either. The dog seriously looks like he has swallowed a barrel but he was STILL trying to scab a treat off the vet!! Little bastard. The vet was lovely and very sympathetic. He suggested that Champa was "missing a link" somewhere! LOL! So $70 and a filthy car later, we are home. I have calmed down now. I don't think I was hoping to achieve anything by posting this, I was just in shock I guess. I don't want to have him PTS and I certainly wouldn't rehome a dog like him. He does NOT have anxiety. He is a confident, happy dog. He is just a major turd. He can't do any sort of rigorous work to tire him out because he has a dodgy shoulder. Anyway, thanks again for the support. I'll get my husband to fix the door on the weekend and I'll look into the containment systems. He can't be put in a run because he howls, but the idea about the electronic barrier sounds good. Thanks again.

So looks like Champa has bloat. He has bloated heaps of time before and his tummy has settled on its own, but he is drooling this time which I've never seen in him before so we are off to the vet.
