  1. So looks like I haven't got the Sunday off that I wanted for racing Buut that means ET is back on. We should be fit enough I think Can someone walk me through the process of entering please :D
  2. Looks like an alaskan husky, or racing mix. (ie hound husky mix )
  3. If I can't convince OH to go down the multiple husky route, then I seriously seriously want a chinook I wanted a Tamaskan for a while, but my allegience quickly changed to chinooks
  4. Congrats. :) He certainly stands out from the white dogs  Sooo cute
  5. My tie outs are a decent chain ( < 2m ) and a Kramar cable which is coated in plastic (4.5 m) I would suggest using one of these for tie outs and keeping leads for walking. I never had a leash chewer, but to stop chewing on other things I used something foul tasting, like vapour rub, which prevented the dog chewing.
  6. There was somewhere training in it. I'll edit this when I can find who it is: Dover trains Rally O http://www.doverdog.org.au/rally-o.html
  7. I would like to live with a male husky. I think it would even the pack out and also be a better match size wise for Esky. I find some females can be a bit arky with other females as well. Having said that if someone offered me a sibe that could run, it could be male, female, both, neither, blue, pink or yellow.
  8. The puppy probably won't be comfortable to sit in someones lap for the whole trip anyway. They tend to squirm a lot  A crate would be ideal, or failing that a harness that attaches to the seatbelt area of the back seat. It could be very dangerous for all parties if the pup gets loose and makes its way over to you while your driving! Congrats on your new puppy by the way :D
  9. Just watched this on facebook. I was in awe. Chaser is such an amazing dog! Who else pulled out all their toys teach their own dogs ?
  10. Others have said that Esky and I could pass, so I'm sure you'll have no trouble Snopaws Not sure if we'll be doing it this year. The SA ET coincides with one of the biggest races on our calendar.
  11. Have you considered a Rottweiler? I'm not sure on the drooling, but everything else fits your bill. Look intimidating to people, but most are big softies. I used to be quite afraid by them, but OH loves them and on further reading they sound great. In the wrong hands they could still be a handful, but compared to the LGDs you mentioned I think you'd have an easier time.
  12. Favourite breed: Husky Least Favourite: Anything to small to gigantic to pull a racing scooter  I love dogs too much to hate any breeds
  13. What size crates have you got, that fit people. ( A new way to get OH coming to racing weekends ) OT but have you finally found a dog friendly rental where you wanted one?
  14. Racing Line Sibe Racing Line Sibe Racing Line Sibe Show and racing line sibe Why can't I have one more
  15. A small brag for me. :) We had the SA Sled Dog clubs sprint race on yesterday. Basically a drag race for dogs :p Two dogs compete over 100m distance and the top time over 3 heats wins. Esky had the 3rd fastest time out of our class. 1 dog. And we managed to top our division and come out with first prize. Super consistent runs too 17.59, 17.57, 17.58. I also got the joy of running Whisked Away's Akira in Novice Class. She took out first prize in that class, and beat ever other dog in the heat by 9 seconds The crazy fluffy one
  16. Oh dear! Cheeky dogs! I once had a dog and cat team up turn and devour half an uniced cake Was not impressed
  17. Are there allergies as a reason she wants non shedding, or just as a cleanliness thing. If it's not related to allergies maybe a spitz breed could fit the bill. Good on you for trying Nik :D
  18. Not personally but a few people I know through DOL speak very highly of him. I know he helped KelpieHoundmumout a lot with her bloodhound :) He would be my first port of call if I needed those kinds of services
  19. OMG So sorry to hear that You've had some real ups and downs with this litter Hope the remaining pups do you proud. Run free litte shelties
  20. Not at a show but the pet expo in Adelaide everyone thought it was their god given right to pat all the dogs. Esky is very very good with strangers and being handled, I made a point that we did a lot of that as a pup and it's really paid off. It annoyed me that some parents didn't ask, "of course you can pet the dog sweetie" I guess it's fair enough because everyone else was. I was a little annoyed when I was sitting a bit further back in the display letting Esky have a drink and a break and people were still coming up to pat her. There were still other dogs to pat . I was using a lot of positive reinforcement on the children " That was very good of you to ask :) Yes Esky is very friendly she loves being patted" I was also showing some of the kids where to pat Esky when I could see she wasn't enjoying being touched on the head. I'm not sure if I would feel differently if I was at the expo for another purpose though *shrug*
