I'm not too good at this uploading pics...give me a chance though... Know these aren't doggie pics but these guys are my other family pets. The cat, Lily and PJ, the Lorikeit were raised together and hang out. This was ANZAC Day and my Dad after marching was taking a nap on my couch and Lily agreed with him about a nap.PJ wasn't happy to be left out and came storming in to cause trouble...all unbeknownst to Dad who was snoring away! Untill the rough housing got so rough, they woke him up...he looks down actually saying what the hell!I got the giggles so bad I could hardly keep the camera steady..sorry for not editing but its late at night. It won't let me add all the pics at once so I'm trying to add more in the reply...bare with me....

I've done years at Pony Club, shows, Royals...I wouldn't be too worried about permission if you out of the way with long enough lense and what the pics are being used for.Its being a few foot away continuously snapping children that would have parent's start to wonder who you are. If you were taking a pic of my child on her pony, I would just be happy if you didn't publish online a clear view of her face, otherwise wouldn't worry me.I've got dozens of pics I've taken of Em with other kids managing to get into the shot through the background...wouldn't have a clue on who half these kids are but I just make sure they don't end up in public.

What Does Your Dog Do That Makes You Laugh?
chelle~aussie~dragon replied to fiveplusone's topic in General Dog Discussion
My dogs are obsessed with car travel...they will get past any open car door or tray back to hitch a ride so I have to tell people to always shut their doors and sometimes windows. This includes when I get home, usually after picking my daughter up from school, they both always greet me along my driveway and after Emily gets out, she usually dawdles and they use this to their advatage to sneak in. Numerous times my parents have dropped my boys back home after looking after them for me for a weekend and gone back out to their dual cab to go home and boys are back in there waiting to leave. It also includes when I'm putting items in the trailer, even if its not hooked up...they will jump in while my back is turned, cause if I'm putting something in I MUST be going somewhere. Just to keep them happy I usually take them up for school pick up in the afternoon...which is only 2 seconds down the street...might only be a minute trip but they get so excited! -
I do not have any help for you but I would just like to extend my sympathy and say no dog can compare to a human life...you did what you could and now you need help through no fault of your own.

What Can I Do With My Lovely Jack Russell
chelle~aussie~dragon replied to hshen's topic in General Dog Discussion
Great effort.Sometimes life just happens and as much as I love my dogs, things can happen. As for pointing out someone only being a member for a month.I have actually been coming on here myself for 7 years but half of that, not a member just lurking, (sounds creepy doesn't it) and untill this year under another name, (not creepy, just forgot password).Best not to make assumptions on people or events. -
Love reading these stories. After all the bad things you hear in the media...this makes up for it.

I got my dog Dragon at age 4 but didn't get him desexed untill he was 6 as I always hopeful I could show him.Age 6 decided it was never going to happen and he hasn't changed at all from before to after.

Junior Handlers - How Did You Get In To It?
chelle~aussie~dragon replied to Trisven13's topic in General Dog Discussion
Is the age rule for children still the same in QLD, I thought your child could start at age 7 aswell in QLD now? -
Started reading tonight after wondering all today if Magnus had been found.I actually got chills reading the update and trying not to cry in front of my daughter with horrible aching lump in throat.May they all rest in peace. What a terrible, terrible tragedy but like so many tragedies, it certainly brings the best out in people. Sometimes I feel a bit silly in front of my partner when he sees the extra mile I go for my pets as he really isn't an animal person. To come here and know people feel that same bond with their dogs and to know right now that crying over someone I have never met but can emphasise with because I couldn't bare to think of losing my boys in any circumstance...is reassuring. I hope in the future, when Jane can see the support from everyone that it can ease some of the pain...to know that she won't be alone in her grieving process, that so many people are willing to share that burden with her...it humbles me.

My boys always run out and greet me when I drive into my driveway.Dragon sticks his head in and ALWAYS gives me a big Dally grin. The funny thing is that you never get as big a warm reception from anyone human in the family but animals always look excited to see you.

If You Had To Pick Ten Breeds...
chelle~aussie~dragon replied to pixie_meg's topic in General Dog Discussion
Dalmatian Cavalier King Charles Rhodesian Ridgeback chihuahua border collies pointer Beagle Italian Greyhound Malamute Finnish Lapphund, never heard of them till I came on this site and love them.. My family have owned at least half of the breeds I have mentioned but I would love to have the others as well.I think the Ridgeback is so majestic and handsome, next on my list down the track. -
I remember when I was a child about 8/9 when I first started loving Dalmatians, we called a breeder who had advertised a retired show girl which I was able to adopt. We kept in contact and they invited me to come and watch them at my local show as I had never been to a dog show before. Now I don't know why I did it from already having shown ponies for a few years and knowing about keeping a coat clean for the ring but I ran my hands over their dog's coats without asking first and put a film of oil on them. Then with horror realising what I had done.I was very lucky the owners were understanding and managed to clean it up before they went in. From that day on I never touch another's person's animal without asking.I have started noticing my daughter aged 7, will speak gently to an animal first and doesn't crowd them. Our back neighbour's Dashie who doesn't like people coming up to her has accepted Emily because Emily would wait by the fence and just talk for ages at a time.Their best buddies now. I think it really is a lot of ignorance, if I at that age could do it with really knowing not to I can kind of understand how it happens.I think the EKKA's dog pavillion is one huge temptation to kids walking through that don't understand about keeping coats clean.Parents should know better though.

I lived in a suburb just outside Darwin for 9 months housesitting for my brother while he went to East Timor with the Army.I also had to look after his dog.Note to anyone thinking of moving to NT.Re-think if your about 4 months pregnant! Its a great lifestyle, beautiful country and some great people but I couldn't handle the humidity...I actually think I went a bit loco...hence why they call the wet season the 'silly season'.Carrying round a 8 pounder didn't help.Saying that I don't mind high dry heat, coming from northwest nsw originally...no problem. I also noticed the dog had lots of skin problems and spent a lot of time being treated by local vet. Some animals can't handle the conditions. I would take a trip first and check it all out.Problem now though its still hot, its coming out of the wet season. Goodluck!

Advice - Neighbours Noisy Dog
chelle~aussie~dragon replied to Outkast1972's topic in General Dog Discussion
Ive got the same problem, new neighbour moved into our rural street about three weeks ago and him and his dog have been making loud noises ever since. The dog barks non-stop and the guy gets drunk just about every single night and yells and screams like a banshee.I've lived here for three years and its gone from a few dogs barking if theres something spooky around and even a few coming visiting but really no noise to hear about and to the point I felt so safe I didn't have to lock house or car to now being quite wary at night as his part of the duplex sits right next to my driveway and he can look over nearly straight into my kitchen and lounge room... Where he lives is about 4 duplex units that were built two years ago and never sold so the developer has rented the first one out and it sits right next to my driveway.I went and saw a worker that is completeing the gardens there, the other day to ask his advice and he told me after dealing with the dog himself barking all day non-stop he and the bloke had an argument about it and he advised me not to go near him and that he was very rough and abusive. So a week later after been driven insane I spotted the developer and went over to him and he first denied being the developer and when I called his bluff he admitted he was but he refused to do anything. We have a council here but no police so I went down and made a complaint so in the middle of doing a diary of the dog barking(which is ALL the time basically noted). But what do I do about the noise level from the guy?He is screaming and shouting this very minute outside my lounge window and when he stops for a breath, the dog is going off.I was even thinking about seeing if I could adopt a older dog breed like a Doberman to feel safer as my two would welcome any intruder and point him in the right direction to me. I loved living here, absolutely loved it...now I'm thinking I might have to move...which sucks because I have no other neighbours, an acre of land and my daughter's school is literally at the end of our street. Would the police be able to do anything about the guy? -

I have a liver Dalmatian and Ruby Cavalier...I would love to even come and watch if they wouldn't be needed! -
We have a maine coon whom I took when my brother died.He called him Mr Bigglesworth from Austin Powers. Our little Tonkinese girl rules our house, Emily named her Princess Lily from the Princess Diaries and yes we do use the formal when calling her. Dragon loves to give chase when cats are outside but things are fine inside and he is happy to snuggle.Aussie loves to play and will squish P.Lily flat, Mr B is too smart and manages to be out of there! P.Lily has adopted our newish lorikeit as her charge and PJ, the Lori does think he is a cat.He nuzzles P.Lily and hops on her tail for a ride. We have had all on the bed including bird but Dragon is obsessed with wanting to eat PJ so it doesn't last long before there is chaos!
