  1. Thanks Rascalmyshadow. I'm more inner SE 'burbs than Moorabbin so unfortunately our previous groomer was not you.
  2. Rascalmyshadow, Were you grooming at a vet practice in the SE 'burbs' of Melbourne. I ask because the groomer who ran her business in the same premises as the vets I attend left a few short years ago and I haven't been able to find out where she is now.
  3. Happy Birthday little boy. Westiemum you are doing a great job with your boy.
  4. I'm so sorry for your loss of Hamish
  5. A few weeks ago I lost my much loved Cavalier boy, Bronson to congestive heart failure. We made a late Saturday night dash to the emergency vet who did everything possible to bring my boy's oxygen level up, to no avail. Bronson couldn't maintain enough oxygen to sustain life. My Cavalier girl, Dana, who is 10yo had never spent time away from my boy. As well she is totally deaf and he was her ears. Whatever he did she did and wherever he went she followed. Dana is doing ok without him but is more clingy than she was when Bronson was alive. She did go into the garage a couple times looking to see if he was in the car but didn't persist with it. I lost my Rottie, Sophie, to the dreaded osteosarcoma and when I came home from the vet without her my Cavalier boy kept going to the car to see if she was there. He was jumping up trying to see through the car window. He adored Sophie and it was heartbreaking to see him searching for her. He did this on and off for 24 hours but then accepted she wasn't there and got on with life as it was. They cope in their own way. Tyson may carry on as usual or he might fret for a day or two but he'll be fine. You on the other hand probably won't cope as well as Tyson. I'm so sorry your Rottie has osteosarcoma I know how devastating it is. Osteosarcoma is an excruciatingly painful disease and your boy will need strong pain relief. At this stage pain relief is paramount, it's all that matters. That's really all you can do for him apart from love him for the time he has left. I wouldn't take Tyson to the vet when you have his brother put to sleep. All your attention needs to be with the boy you are about to lose, to love and comfort him. There is a palliative care forum in the health section. I don't know whether or not the "Unwell Rottie' thread is still there. If it is there are a few supplements we tried with our dogs might help you and your boy.
  6. I wouldn't do it. If I were to spend a night away I would have a friend stay the night. If that wasn't possible I wouldn't go.
  7. It's called the mandible (the lower jaw)
  8. Who told you the puppy was slightly brain damaged? The puppy is still very young. Which breed are we talking about? Some breeds are known to be slower with house training than others. Most of my dogs haven't been reliable with going outside to toilet until they were 15-16 weeks old.
  9. Hi Lucia, I pop in here every few days. Now I'm wasting my time on Facebook. It's so good to hear from you after such a long time. Poor Tex. I hope he recovers well. How is Sammi? I lost my little Cav boy to congestive heart failure last month. He had been on medication for a long time but eventually it fails to work. He was 3 days past his 11th birthday. I miss that little boy so much. Now I have just one dog, Dana, my blk/tan Cavalier. She is stone deaf but is a happy little 10yo girl. Please keep us posted about Tex.
  10. Good luck with your boy Ci and it's great to see you on here again after such a long time.
  11. My dogs don't live in the yard, they live inside the house. I would never leave them outside in the yard overnight let alone for days. Neither would I use a pet service that called in once a day to feed the dogs. They're either inside with me or home here with someone else if there was an occasion where I couldn't be with them.
  12. I wouldn't do it either. I would stay in the old house with them until the new one was made safe for them.
  13. Hahahaha Maddy. I'm guessing it will be only a matter of time before this pup is reported as missing.
  14. I pay about $70 and $59 for a follow up visit.
  15. I would have thought the first thing your vet would do would have been to ask you to collect a urine specimen for analysis. What is happening is not normal. I'd be seeking a vet who is more interested in the health of your dog.
  16. I'm sorry her time is near, Ricey.
  17. Dr Steven Coles at Sandringham Vet Clinic/Hospital is a dental specialist. I would have those loose teeth extracted. Loose teeth can be caused by gum disease. If the teeth are loose they're not healthy teeth and gum disease threatens the health of your dog's heart. Teeth don't have to be broken, cracked or rotten to cause gum disease and as you said, there is plaque present on all but one of the loose teeth. I think your vet has given you sound advice. Brushing daily at this point will not save the loose teeth.
  18. Hmmm, so many new accounts for what purpose? To have a go at eachother?
  19. Did you not read Kajtek's first post. She contacted the Qld breeder for an older dog, not a puppy. If you think it's too hot in Qld to be breeding BB's then perhaps you should contact that same breeder and let her know your thoughts on the matter. I'm sure she'll appreciate it.
  20. What a cold hearted, unkind and very disrespectful post.
  21. Anna, I'm certain there could be no better home than yours for a Bulldog in need or a pup if that's the way you need to go. There is a PM awaiting your attention, about a different matter.
  22. Thinking of you, For Benny. I know only too well how painful this is for you Excellent news to hear that Benny's pain meds kicked in so he was able to spend enjoying these few days virtually pain free.
