  1. 60 kg ! Oh, poor old fella Oldler & obese must make it extremely difficult for him to even get around. I hope someone can help him out. All lovely looking Labs.
  2. Excuse my ignorance hankdog but what are lick sticks ?
  3. Thats wonderful news !!.... So glad they were both found alive & uninjured. What is bloody wrong with people. How could anyone do such a cruel thing to a beautiful dog. Wonder if they would like to be taped up,thrown in a river & left to drown. I think NOT
  4. If a breeder is trying to charge you more for a coloured puppy I would avoid them big time. A decent breeder will have one price across the board regardless of colour. Sometimes they will charge a little more for a mains register dog as opposed to a limited reg. pup but that is it. I am not a breeder, just going by personal experience. I think you will probably pay around $1,000 for a well breed dog from a reputable breeder. Hope I was of some help & welcome to the DOl forum :)
  5. Pers, funny you should say that as he did lift his paw up to show the Vet yesterday with a very sorrowful,' poor me' look on his face
  6. Oh thanks for the 'heads up' on that perygrine. I was not aware that there was a chiro in our area. Will definitely jot that down for future reference :)
  7. Sonny is a lot better this morning thanks Clover. Vet has given him some anti inflamitories. Apparently he has in laymens terms a slightly sprained wrist. Rest for a few days as well. So nothing serious which I am very pleased about. He is such a sook my boy. I am sure that he is in pain but he even made the Vets eye's roll with the performance right down to the 'look' on his face  He wouldn't even get up for his supper treat last night, so OH put it beside on his bean bag where he proceeded to eat it lying down
  8. Sorry Wobbley, I have you out of hospital & on the mend already  Just shows you how confident I am you will breeze through it  Best of luck for tomorrow, we will all be thinking of you Yes you are probably right about that wonderful seminar you attended being a bit much for Stella. Appreciate the link you have provided, that may be a good way for me to go with her. She really surprises me sometimes though e.g. today just got back from a 1.5 hour walk with her on her own. Walking in all different environments, bush/suburban/busy roads. Stella didn't have one reactive moment nor did she emotional. Did some basic obedience stuff with her & she didn't put a foot wrong but more importantly she was quite relaxed I'm wrapped. Maybe all my work is starting to pay off. Oh gosh I hope so. I will be thrilled
  9. Beautiful photos. No. 4 stole my heart as well. Awesome shots. They showcase the bond these 2 have so perfectly & it's so lovely to see
  10. dancinbcs, just checked Sonny over again & while there is no marks anywhere on his front leg he does seem to be sorest around his elbow area. That is where I am getting the most reaction from him. As he has made little improvement since yesterday we are off to the Vets this afternoon. Will just keep him very quiet until we go, although he seems to be doing that himself. We don't have any Chiro's around here unfortunately.
  11. toe & nails all good :) I seem to get the most reaction from him when I move his leg up wards & around, maybe shoulder
  12. Sheena I didn't think to check his toenails, good thinking. I was more thinking Stella might have nicked him with her teeth. I'm going to check him now thanks.
  13. Thanks everyone for your help. MY poor boy It is awful to see your dogs in pain for what ever reason isn't it Sonny has a very sorrowful look on his face atm. He looks at me like 'mum, my leg hurts'... & he is such a lovely natured boy. A real softy & Stella is my buggerlugs who plays a bit roughly with him at times. Pers, I was told that Asprin was OK to give a dog on very rare occasions when in pain. I won't give him any more then. Last thing I want to do is complicate things. PME, I just pick parsley out of the garden & Sonny eats so I just feed him some. He has ACV in his dinner every night Ness, I was thinking of giving that RHVC a go after I finish my Joint Guard that I have. You said it seemed to help Kenzie . If my boy is no better by the morning we are off to the Vets
  14. Raineth, What a beautiful big girl you have there. The camera loves her too Hankdog, maybe I should get the peanut butter jar out. Sounds like it is working wonders for you. I believe in what ever works do it !! Congrats on your progress with Tubby aka Jake...
  15. Hi folks, After Sonny & Stella's morning ritual of playing together this morning Sonny has pulled up very lame front offside leg. Stella does mouth & nip his legs during play. I checked his paw/leg all over for signs of broken skin/cut/bite mark but found nothing. It is very obvious that he is in pain. He is walking on it but very gingerly. So I have given him some Joint guard & 1 Asprin. He is sleeping at the moment. Was wondering how often am I able to give Asprin. I wanted to give him another tonight around 5 or so?? if needed. Naturally I will be taking him to the Vets if no signs of improvement after a days or so rest. Is there anything else I could do that would be of benefit to him? Many thanks in advance for your help.
  16. So nice to see you Wobbley. Hope you are doing OK after your opp. With your wonderful outlook you will be back to wobbley in no time, giggle :) Sounds like you had a great time at the seminar. I would of loved to have gone as I would have been very interested in her opinion of Stella & how she would go about training her being she is so reactive. Am going to try the little building confidence exercise too. Will also have a read of the link you kindly provided. Take care of you :)
  17. Yes working dogs sure know how to have fun. If there is nothing happening they will make it happen & involve anyone around be it 2 or 4 legged. If no one wants "in" on a bit of action, they we go it alone. Loving this thread. beautiful , funny pic's. Faces filled with such character. One thing for sure is there is never a dull moment no matter what their age. Gotta love em :)
  18. Oh yes, tuff at the top ! :) & very cute too.
  19. Way too much fun going on here  Great pic's
  20. I just had a look at mine & it is a Buster type one. Terrific & no issues with it coming off. Very strong My girl doesn't have to wear hers much at all either but even so you need to be confident that it wont come off & your dog is comfortable.
  21. I have a basket plastic muzzle for my girl as she has bitten our Vet out of fear. She is very nervous/anxious. Actually Pers has been kind enough to provide her first link was where I got mine from. IMO those fabric muzzles are far too restrictive. The dog can't pant & anxious dogs pant heaps therefore they can't keep cool. You also can reward your dog through a basket one where as you can't through a fabric one. I would go for a correctly fitted basket type :)
  22. Thanks for the link gillbear. Enjoyed very much. What a marvellous couple. They have hearts of gold. Their devotion to this beautiful breed is wonderful. Much needed organisation
  23. Am liking the look of Tuckertub. Wish there was one on the mid nth coast NSW. Thanks for your review :)
