The Karamar one was the one I was going to get. It is telescopic as Dot has said so it folds into itself & is light weight. Also agree online would be a cheaper option. I ended buying a small station wagon for myself to get around in instead & both dogs can jump into without any drama's. If for some reason I had to lift one of them I can as it isn't very high of the ground. The OH has the 4x4 land cruiser now as it was too difficult for me too manage with the dogs etc. I have hand / lower arm impairment so not able to do most things easily unfortunately.

I Have A Weeks Supply Of Vetmedin And Fortekor To Give Away
BC Crazy replied to Bow Wow's topic in Aged Dog Care
So sorry for your loss at such a grand old age -
I'm really enjoying this thread. Interesting to read about what other folks desire & would like in their 'perfect' dog. I adore both my dogs that I have at the moment. Sonny has a beautiful temp, bomb proof almost. Loves everybody & everything. He is very handsome. Also very easy to live with. His only fault would be that he can be a little aloof/ stubborn to train at times. Stella is a beautiful, sweet girl & a delight to train. However she is very reactive/nervous about pretty much everything which makes her life & mine very challanging. So I would have to say if I could mix the 2 of mine together. Sonny's temp & Stella willingness to learn. Either ones looks as they are both beautiful :p I would have my perfect dog. The best of both worlds & the breed I adore :)

I'd do the very same.

Exercising Reactive Dogs Thread
BC Crazy replied to megan_'s topic in Training / Obedience / Dog Sports
Hankdog, Jake sounds so much like Stella at times. When she throws a tanti or gets a fright she screams so loudly you can hear her several blocks away as well. You wonder how they could generate so much volume. Stella isn't a big dog but blimey she can be so loud  Luckily, with maturity it doesn't seem to happen quite as often. When she was a puppy, oh boy, say if I took Sonny out without her, you'd could hear her for miles -
I would go the quick intro that night at home then separate till morning IMHO. Too easy for things to go wrong in the car, uncrated & not worth the risk.

Oh that is interesting kirislin. My female BC has terrible nightmares quite frequently actually. She doesn't get up though or walk around thank goodness. I did find out after I brought her that her grand dam suffers epilepsy. Wonder if there is a link between the 2. Will do some research. Something to keep an eye on maybe then unfortunately. Sorry off topic folks.

Yes loved them all apart from the last one. He was having a bad dream, got such a fright. Poor boy

Couldn't agree more with this....

Quite. But you're supposed to know more about dogs than a terrible news report. Do NOT pretend that the reason you said that was because it was reported as such. If you read this thread, which I assume you did seeing as you are commenting, you know that it was not an APBT. That's hilarious... considering I would NOT be able to distinguish between all the different Bull type breeds of dogs by viewing them if I tried. Know me well obviously. NOT. Pretend !! ... You couldn't be any more wrong about me if you tried. Please show some respect for the grieving family that have just lost their little boy instead of grinding away with your axe behind some hinder personal agenda you may have. I am someone along with many other of this forum I suspect that is just trying to raise more community awareness so this tragedy may not occur quite as frequently & save maybe even one other family the sheer horror of it's consequences. The fact that ANY dog, no matter what the BREED with the right buttons pushed could turn on a child. There are some dogs that just shouldn't be around children. All dogs should be supervised by a capable adult when they are in the company of children.

Yes Haredown W... I must be getting too old as well. Heart breaking as I have previously said, just tragic poor little toddler.
-
It was our local channel 7 tv news reported him as an American pitbull x Mastiff at 57 kilo. Please don't shoot the messenger. Being totally unexperienced with either breed.
-
Thats what our local news reported him as ... Their exact words. Not mine. So if you have an issue please take it up with them BJ.

This horror story & death of an innocent toddler makes me feel sick to my heart On our nightly news the tragedy went on for 15 mins & the dog weighted in at a hefty 57 kg. The little boy nor poor 70 year old nan wouldn't of stood a chance The little boy & the dog in question grew up together according to his aunty. By all accounts the American Pitbull was a trained pig dog & he had the temp. of a very gentle giant. Until now. ....

No matter how rock solid your dog is there can never be a 100% guarantee regardless. I would say my basset hound was rock solid but I still have a little bit of fencing that I slide across in front of their beds when they are sleeping so they don't get a fright if a child was to trip and fall next to them or whatever. I would have said in the past that my kelpie was also rock solid but as she gets older she is getting less tolerant and while I trust my kids to behave appropriately around her I am less certain of other peoples kids. I honestly don't think she would ever bite someone(she just gets an unimpressed look on her face and looks at me as if to say it's time to go) but at times I can see when she has had enough and I like to be able to remove her before she ever considered snapping. Great work as a level headed dog owning mum that knows her dogs & takes the time to observe them & watch over her children at the same time. It can be done. Love your common sense approach

I wouldn't be able to cope with the loss that is why I would never become a breeder. I bet there would be tonnes of work as well. Time consuming too. But what a why to 'waste' time :)

A dog of a certain size and strength always has the potential to kill a small child...whether the owner or a parent is present or not. Previous history, behaviour, training etc is all secondary. The owner and the parent have made a tragic mistake, one that will be repeated again and again and again. We have had situations where people with big dogs brought them near my young kids, i put a stop to it, occasionally causing a few scenes where dog owner friends and family claim i am making a big deal...f. them...i am not taking those typs of risks with my kids safety. Other can choose to, i think its stupid. Then I guess you haven't heard the story of the little Pom who killed its owners baby? All dogs can be dangerous in the wrong hands. I would be wary of all equally, not just 'the big mean dogs'. Parents like this really rub me the wrong the way Yes, german shep fan. 100% agree with you.... Any dog no matter what size, breed etc are capable of having a brain snap. All dogs should be under adult supervision when children are present & if not able to be supervised then dogs should be crated etc. With no access to kids. The little boy in question was only 2 after all. It only takes a split second for something as horrific as this to occur. My sympathies are with this family, the mum & all concerned though as you wouldn't wish this tragedy upon anyone
-
Yes very heartbreaking at times I would imagine.... Beautiful photo's Kirislin. Gorgeous babies & mummy is doing an awesome job by the looks of things

Such a tragedy for all concerned The poor little boy who lost his life in what would of been I can only speculate, nothing short of sheer terror. The poor grandmother who would of been frantically trying to stop the dog but injured the whole horrific situation & the dog that for what ever reason, apparently out of character,I don't know, has a brain snap.... My sympathies & condolences to the poor family.
